Girls aren't funny.

Recommended Posts

Well, she'd watch the Three Stooges, which makes her unusual to begin with.

I'm not a fan, mind you, but most women I know have a VISCERAL hatred.

However, the idea of a serious discussion of the lack of reality in the Three Stooges seems like it has the potential for great comedy.

I had to twist her arm into doing so, once we had run out of options of stuff to watch. Before then, she'd always shriek "NO! All they do is HIT each other!"

Fortunately, I do have a female friend who is fanatical about the Stooges. That's how we met, really, when I commented elsewhere about how cool I thought it was to see a girl admitting she was a Stoogeaholic.

With my last girlfriend, it was easy to persuade her to watch certain comedies. She definitely had no problem with Python (except for The Cycling Tour episode) or MST3K, although she would overanalyze certain scenes that she just could not suspend her disbelief over. The Stooges were an effort. But there was no way in hell she was going to sit and watch South Park, no sir!

The one advantage to unfunny chick friends is that if you burn them they rarely if ever have a good comeback so you inevitably win every exchange.

Girls always have the "well yeah...I faked it! all of them!" card.

That's when you unleash the "I don't care!" card.

Which, at least, is undeniably true.

That brings up a good joke.

Q: How do you make a woman have an orgasm?

A: Who cares?

It's funny 'cause it's true.

The Stooges are so misunderstood. Fuck the Marx Brothers. Well, not Groucho, he was good, but the rest of them. Even though only 2/3 of the various stooges over the years were good, they're still the best old school comedy team, bar none.

Man, whatever. Harpo was the king of body language and Chico played "wily sleaze" to perfection.

The stooges were the shit too, except Joe, but who cares about him anyway?

I grew up watching Three Stooges on WPWR 50 in Chicago, on Sunday nights. For me, I only like Larry-Moe-Curly. Shemp I can tolerate, and it's just not the same with Joe.

And then there's Curly Joe. Yeesh.

But I prefer the Marx Brothers because I have an appreciation for Groucho's rapier-sharp wit. Also, he and my late great-grandfather (who represents my Jewish heritage) look almost exactly alike.

Quick: Favorite Stooges and Favorite Marx Brothers Movies/shorts/moments.

Stooges:

Taxi driver-"Where to?"

Curly-"Egypt!"

and the car pulls up in the desert with four flat tires. Close second goes to WWII propaganda Stooges where they dressed Moe up like Hitler and made him king of Moronica, or some shit.

Marx Brothers-A Night at the Opera. Hotel room scene where they move the rooms around.

Along with that, the final downfall of society will be when KJ is elected President.

With an inaugural mixer coordinated by Vice President UseTheSledgehammerUh. Then with them in charge, the United States will become Europe's bitch just for the sake of supplying them with comedic fodder.

That was before Chaplin's Great Dictator, by the way.

My favorite short was Uncivil Warriors (you can probably guess which one that was by the title), and my favorite scene was everything from when Larry impersonates Moe's father until the end of that one. They were hitting on all cylinders all the way through.

Larry is my favorite stooge, by the way, but I'm probably the only one you'll meet in your life. I like Shemp and Curly equally.

I'm a Moe kind of guy, but everybody likes Curly.

Hey, actually, Curly should be the mascot for your ice cream and french fries store, since everyone likes those things too. Curly's fries.

I get 50%
