Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 http://www.newsok.com/electok/article/1345390/ Marriage, family advocate to support Coburn By Carmel Perez Snyder The Oklahoman Taking a hard line against ads run by Democrat Brad Carson's campaign for the U.S. Senate against Republican candidate Tom Coburn, well-known Focus on the Family founder James Dobson said Friday, "It's wrong. It's evil." Dobson, who had been stumping for Coburn in Oklahoma since Thursday, said Carson was lying. "He may very well be a nice man, and I'm not attacking his personhood, but there's a gap between who he says he is and what he does," Dobson said, criticizing Carson for votes on partial-birth abortion and in support of same-sex marriage. Dobson warned those attending the Friday afternoon rally at Oklahoma Christian University that the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman must be protected. He cited examples of countries such as Norway that have allowed same-sex couples to marry as proof that fewer men and women get married. Dobson said 80 percent of children are born out of wedlock in Norway. "Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage," Dobson said. "It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth." Dobson urged rally attendees to reach out to homosexuals and "bring them to Jesus." He also urged supporters in attendance to fast and pray on the Thursday and weekend before the Nov. 2 election and to go to the polls to elect Coburn to the Senate. Dobson said a vote for Carson, "even if you think he's right," would be a vote for U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D.; Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.; and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont. "Patrick Leahy is a 'God's people' hater," Dobson said. "I don't know if he hates God, but he hates God's people." Dobson said Coburn was exactly the kind of senator Oklahoma needs. "I am passionate in my support of Dr. Tom Coburn," Dobson said. "This man absolutely has to be sent back to Washington." Also on hand to support Coburn, U.S. Rep. Ernest Istook, R-Warr Acres, said more lawmakers who believe in "the divine origins of the country" are needed. Coburn said he respected Dobson and was proud to have his endorsement. Feel the power of gay marriage! Dobson is such a nut.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 Dobson is a fan of intro-rectal digestion I see. Norway?! I fail to see any logic behind that argument at all. I guess "different culture mores" never occured to Dobson. I don't blame one being against partial-birth abortion, and I can understand being upset about gay marriage--but seriously...this is some of the poorest "logic" I could think of. Guest Nanks Report post Posted October 25, 2004 It's a pleasant change from the bickering that dominates the rest of this folder. It's amusing enough to be considered fluff whilst being topical enough to remain in CE.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 It's nice to have something people can peacefully hate on together, and fanatical social conservatives is one of those things. I heard that in the middle of the Death Star was a church where gay marraiges were performed, which is how they could blow up Alderaan.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 If Dobson was a politician, he'd be set to be Dobson's apprentice. I think that Mini-Falwell is more like it.

Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted October 25, 2004 Man, I thought all this time it was the threat of nuclear proliferation, or global warming, or a asteroid/comet crashing into the earth that posed the greatest threst to wipe the earth out. I am so glad that the major one threat is gay marriage. Man, talk about my priorities being screwed up. Screw North Korea or Iran, they have nothing on two gay people getting married. Man, the fact that gay men have their own Evil hour on Bravo (among every other show on that network), just might cause some men to groom, shave, and color coordinate. Ugh, with so many real threats to this world, James Dobson has his head so far up his nether region that he still thinks it is 1704. I usually think of evil people being Hitler, Stalin, Sadam Hussein, etc, but I am glad that Dobson thinks that evil also applies to gays, based on a lil nit-picking of the Bible to justify his case. I also think that he believes that if you sent all gays to camps for brainwashing, err, saving, that you can pray the gay away. Of course science might have a few insights to homosexuality, but hey, the Bible is the trump card over science . I also dislike that smug, arrogant 'tude he displays on Hannity/Colmes. He reminds me of a holier-than-though Bible Thumper who will call anyone who will listen a sinner, yet ends up being arrested for molestation, child porn, kidnapping, drug selling, or serial killing. A good lil advice to the so-called Dr., let God do the judging, unless thee be judged. And please come into the 21st Century and shut your mouth about assessing what will destroy the Earth, because somehow, two guys having anal sex, or two lesbians dyking out really is not going to cause God to destroy the world. Don't you think it would have happened already??
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 Imagine what would happen if gay marriage got a hold of those 300 tons of Iraqi explosives. Then they'd destroy the world, big time!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 "Man, I thought all this time it was the threat of nuclear proliferation, or global warming, or a asteroid/comet crashing into the earth that posed the greatest threst to wipe the earth out." Naw, just the first one--the second is a myth and the last one--well, you'd know hundreds of years ahead of time.
