Among the Easter Eggs on the DVD are The Public Enemy training Mikey Whipwreck for his ECW World title match against the Sandman, Michael Cole being shown an injury by Rob Van Dam from his feud with Jerry Lynn, and the build to Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow. Tazz also tells a story about a phone call he made to Paul Heyman while on his way to Madison Square Garden for his WWE debut.

I was told that the DVD is "great" for fans who were familiar with the company during it's run but will also be entertaining for fans who may not have experienced it when it was in business.

The first footage from the much anticipated Rise and Fall of Extreme Championship Wrestling DVD can be seen now at VideoDetective.com.

Promotional material for the DVD set reads as follows:

"E-C-W! E-C-W! E-C-W!"

- a chant heard in arenas around the world.

ECW: Extreme Championship Wrestling redefined professional wrestling in the '90s with a reckless, brutal, death-defying, and often bloody style that came to be known as "hardcore". It attracted a rabid, cult-like following that is still going strong today.

This 6-hour, 2-disc set follows the rise and eventual demise of the company that raised the bar and revolutionised sports-entertainment forever."

The DVD set is scheduled to feature seven complete matches as extras:

*ECW World Tag Team chanmpions Raven & Stevie Richards vs. The Pitbulls - Best of Three Falls Dog Collar Match (Gangstas Paradise, September 1995)

*Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Psicosis - Best of Three Falls (October 1995, ECW Arena)

Mikey Whipwreck gets his own chapter? I am so buying this.

Cactus: "Mikey, the Public Enemy is very mad at us. Do you know what that means?"

Mikey: "It means I'm gonna die."

Cactus: "HE LIKES IT! MIKEY REALLY REALLY LIKES IT!"

So nice of them to use matches that were on the ECW DVDs. Too much Barely Legal stuff on there. Yeah it was the first PPV but everything that didn't include an M-Pro guy completely sucked the meat missile on that show.

The ONLY match I have any interest in is the final Dreamer v Raven match, as my copy of the event is so bad it's unwatchable.

Mysterio/Psicosis might be ok but I'm sure it was done better in WCW.

I would've preferred Rey v Juvy from Big Ass Extreme Bash (hell, use their first 2-out-of-3 falls match as it is the only one of theirs that I know of that Juvy won).

I would've gone for Dean Malenko/Eddie Guerrero's final ECW match over most of the stuff on this DVD.

I'm not worried about the matches that are on this dvd, mainly because if their cut or something is edited out, I already own the entire matches on other VHS and DVD's. I'm just worried about the main feature not being very describitive about what was going on the time with the acutal storylines or wrestler or whatever.

That's already on the Eddie DVD, if you're still looking for it.

Good choice, Mike. I still love that match too.

I can't wait to see how they're going to spin the whole Mike Awesome jumps to WCW with the ECW Title deal.

Expect tons of verbal masturbation about how a WWE wrestler beat a WCW wrestler for an ECW Title and how that makes WWE rule all.

Sadly, they'll never mention one fact: If not for Vince giving them money, ECW would have died long earlier than it did.

This DVD lacks one thing and three words:

Angry.Amish.Warrior.

C.W. Anderson and Sign Guy as Lou E.

Roadkill + Rosie = Tag Team of the Year.

Roadkill + Sal E = the never ending JR orgasm.

This DVD looks like a buy IMO. I was a huge fan in years past.......but the extra matches are terrible. This one is for the chapters.....not the matches.
