Gary Floyd Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 I saw the start of the countdown last night (It's on at 9:00 PM), and for the most part, I'm pretty impressed. Surprised to see "Signs" and Fulci's "Zombie" on the list. It's also great to see lesser known films like "Black Christmas","Alice Sweet Alice",and "Blood and Black Lace" on the list. Any thoughts on the list so far? Anyone seen it, or planning on seeing it? Any scenes you think deserve to be on the list? Talk about it here! List so Far: 100.) 28 Days Later 99.) Creepshow 98.) Zombie 97.) Cat People (1942) 96.) The Birds 95.) Jurassic Park 94.) Child's Play 93.) Pacific Heights 92.) Village of the Damned (1960) 91.) Shallow Grave 90.) Night of the Hunter 89.) Alice Sweet Alice 88.) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) 87.) Black Christmas 86.) Wizard of Oz 85.) Blood and Black Lace 84.) Blue Velvet 83.) The Others 82.) Terminator 81.) The Howling 80.) Poltergeist 79.) Dracula (1931) 78.) The Brood 77.) Signs 76.) The Evil Dead
Guest BDC Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 AH, I hate Signs, but that's due to childhood scarring about aliens...
Guest Evolution Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 28 Days Later would be a little bit higher on my list, because that movie was freaky for me. The Others? I'm not feeling it. The movie was better than I expected, but it was more of a mindfuck than a scarefest.
2GOLD Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 100.) 28 Days Later - seems fine to me, wasn't that scary 99.) Creepshow - Classic, should be a little higher 98.) Zombie - Oh come on! At least top 75 for the eyeball scene alone 97.) Cat People (1942) - Eh, alright here 96.) The Birds - Should be higher, at least top 80 95.) Jurassic Park - What? Not even top 100 94.) Child's Play - Sorry, never got Chuckie 93.) Pacific Heights - Ahahahha, no. Not even top 150 92.) Village of the Damned (1960) - Alright, seems fine 91.) Shallow Grave - Fine 90.) Night of the Hunter - Fine 89.) Alice Sweet Alice - Too high 88.) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) -Alright 87.) Black Christmas -Seems good 86.) Wizard of Oz -What?!?!?! Are they kidding me?!?! 85.) Blood and Black Lace - Meh 84.) Blue Velvet - Huh?!?! 83.) The Others -Oh come the hell on! 82.) Terminator -What the heck was scary about Terminator?? 81.) The Howling- Should be little higher 80.) Poltergeist - Had some good moments, I'd say top 70 79.) Dracula (1931) - Classic, should be top 50 78.) The Brood - Alright I guess 77.) Signs- Bull, movie wasn't scary. Shouldn't be top 80 76.) The Evil Dead- Rip off, I dare someone not to cringe on the ankle and tree rape scene This list is bull.
Brocklock Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 As long as some Jacob's Ladder moments appear as well as a few of the scares in Candyman appear, I'm fine with it.
Crimson Platypus Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 I don't see any "moments" listed?
Gary Floyd Posted October 28, 2004 Author Report Posted October 28, 2004 This list is bull. Ok then 2Gold, you come up with a better list
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Terminator Huh? Jurassic Park Wha-wha-what?...
The Metal Maniac Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 What the heck was scary about Terminator?? Uhhh....the UNSTOPPABLE KILLING MACHINE? I dunno, I thought that Arnie continuing to advance, no matter what, was pretty scary. That said though, this list says moments, but then just gives movie titles. I'd like to know what the exact moments in question are, as it'd probably make the list clearer.

Watch the show, and you'll find out the moments For the list so far, updates, and scheduale times, check out http://www.bravotv.com/100_Scariest_Movie_Moments/ (Wow, I sound like a Goddamned commercial)
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 What the heck was scary about Terminator?? Uhhh....the UNSTOPPABLE KILLING MACHINE? Yeah, it scared me. When I was 5 (or whatever young age I was when it first came out). Well, at least Arnold's acting was pretty scary, but not in a "boo!" kind of way...
2GOLD Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I would have been scared....if my name was Sarah Conner. Otherwise, didn't care. I would have let him kill her, odds are I would die in the nuclear explosions anyway.
NoCalMike Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 So in theory, the same movie can appear more then once on the list, since a good horror film usually has more then one scary moment. I missed part 1, but a lot of the time, they repeat the the first parts leading up to the exciting conclusion~! Did they call Fulci's Zombie by it's correct name...Zombi 2? Ok Ok, I am nitpicking.....lol.
Guest curry_man2002 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 How in the blue hell is terminator more scary than zombie Yeah, it scared me.When I was 5 (or whatever young age I was when it first came out). I did actually see this film when i was five as i am 16. And trust me i was no more scared than i was at the cartoons i used to watch.
NoCalMike Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 This show is suprisingly good. I mean if you can set aside the ORDER in which some of the moments are placed in, they are actually using some very good, and rare movies. Kudos Bravo.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Yeah I'm not paying attention to the numbers at all, because other getting pissy over placement what's the point. I'm just looking at this as a discussion about 100 great moments. I do love that they aren't being predictable and mainstream with all of the picks. It likely bothers some genre fans, but I also like that it's not focusing solely on horror films. After this is complete I need to go over the list and catch up on some of these I haven't seen.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Oh, this is movie moments? Would have been nice if we knew the "moments" from each movie in question...
2GOLD Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I'm still not sure how the scene in Pacific Heights is scary. Because Michael Keaton happens to be behind the door in his room? That one confused the crap out of me. I'll let the Wonka one go, just because Wilder was creepy as hell in that boat scene. Did I find it scary? No, course I had already watched every horror movie known to man before seeing it so I was a mentally screwed little boy.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Wow...Alien was #2 and Jaws was #1, that's alittle surprising.
Gary Floyd Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 Audition made #11, and I couldn't be happier. If you've never seen the film,it's kinda like this: it's like someone saying "I told you I was Hardcore",only they really mean it, and they really are.
Corey_Lazarus Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Wow...Alien was #2 and Jaws was #1, that's alittle surprising. Well, considering #2 made me pray to God that the stomach ache I had wasn't an alien inside me when I first saw it at the age of 6, and #1 made people avoid going to the beach for the longest time, especially since the original novel was very loosely inspired on true events...yeah. I can see that.

Ravenbomb Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 I'll wait until they re-run the whole thing
Anakin Flair Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 I hate horror movies (hate being scared in general) but I was entertained by watching this. Loved the commentary by the various actors and Hollywood crew members.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 ...I wish horror movies still scared me. Ravenbomb...you just missed them reairing the whole thing. It started at 8 Eastern Time.
AmericanDragon Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Glad to see Audition in the final part of the show.
Ravenbomb Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 ...I wish horror movies still scared me. Ravenbomb...you just missed them reairing the whole thing. It started at 8 Eastern Time. so...what you're saying is that they WON'T re-air this on Halloween? And yeah, Audition being on it is great.
