Considering they've made exactly ZERO significant moves this offseason (no, signing two guys whose combined age is 500 doesn't count), why would they pull out. Goddamnit, it's really becoming difficult to be an Orioles fan. Angelos is going to get his guaranteed revenue and sale value of the Orioles, and then he'll have no reason what so ever to do anything to make the Orioles a better team. It will end up being an self fulfilling prophecy since people are going to get fed up with it. I wish that MLB would tell him to go to hell, but they wont do that because then it would get dragged to the courts and they could end up losing more than just the guaranteed revenue/sale value that they're going to put up. Peter Angelos is about to become higher on my hate list than Dan Snyder. Dan Snyder singlehandedly ruined the Redskins franchise and now Angelos is trying to do the same to the Orioles.

Advertisement Click Here The Mariners have hired Mat Olkin as player acquisition consultant to general manager Bill Bavasi. "It's more sabermetric than the job title necessarily implies," Olkin said. Sabermetrics, its named derived from the Society for American Baseball Research, is the analysis of baseball statistics. Olkin will act as a statistical sounding board for Bavasi in all things related to roster management. "Everything Bill does is his decision, and he's the one who's going to get the credit or the blame for it," Olkin said. "All I do is give him information and an opinion and try to let him make a more informed decision." Bavasi was not available for comment Thursday but has confirmed the hiring. The Mariners are joining a trend in major league baseball toward hiring numbers-oriented people to help with baseball decisions. Allan Roth pioneered the field with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940s. Craig Wright gained fame with the Texas Rangers in the 1980s with his book "The Diamond Appraised," and the Boston Red Sox made the biggest splash when they hired "Baseball Abstract" guru Bill James after the 2002 season. Most of the articles say a decision will come today.

Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a 1 year, $5.10 Million contract with SP Brad Penny. Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to a 1 year, $1.50 Million contract with 3B/OF Rob Mackowiak. Pittsburgh Pirates signed OF Ben Grieve to an MLC and invited to ST.

I can understand bargaining to up the price, but this was ridiculous. And now according to other talks, Delgado really had no intention of ever going to the Mets and his agent out right lied to Omar Minaya. I know agents do this, but this was a damn circus. Sloane makes Boras look like Danny Kay.

And once again, he never had any intention of going to the Mets, he always wanted to go to the Marlins. This whole deal was Sloane.

Wow. As long as they think they can afford it, they know their finances better than the fans. The landscape of the NL East just changed dramatically, and I'm of the opinion that the Marlins are by far the most complete team in the division.

Gonzalez Pitcher Looks like a good lineup to me. Think of the impact this will have on Miguel Cabrera. This was the KEY piece of the puzzle and the one I thought I could only dream about at the beginning of the offseason. This is also the Marlins biggest free agent signing ever.

Will Delgado fall flat just like Juan Gone did? I hope the Marlins win this year because the Marlins will not be able to stay together. And say hello to new Met Doug Mientkiwcz or Travis Lee.
