NFL Week 8

Recommended Posts

Goddamn, San Fran vs. Chicago...who schedules such horrific primetime football?

They don't know what will be crap and what won't be crap.

Sadly, that's the only downside with parity in the NFL. What team was great last year, might be absolutely suckfest this year.

I think anyone could have assumed there would be a better game today then SF/Chicago...several months ago.

Somebody should lose their job for this.

I am thinking, though, that ESPN doesn't have the same freedom to pick games that ABC does with MNF. Because ESPN usually has quite a few games each year that don't look good going into the season (honestly, if they had dibs they would have jumped on Balt-Philly in a heartbeat).

wooo...go Craig Krenzel...the most unlikely guy to look good at QB in college and nfl.

Holy crap, Craig Krenzel and Ken Dorsey are the starting QBs tonight

And both are doing what surely few believed they could. Be competant QBs in the NFL.

Of course, I'm not going crazy and calling them future starters, but they look like they could be good career backup types.

I love how Craig Krenzel has started a game before the "big name" rookies like Rivers and Manning whom have stood on the sidelines all season save for a couple garbage plays.

Okay, who's the jackass who thought San Francisco would be a winner this year?

Who thought the Bears wouldn't suck?

Somehow it doesn't suprise me, as Krenzel is very intelligent and Dorsey always seemed to not be fazed at Miami, kind of like anti-Ryan Leafs.

With all this talk of Krenzel's college major, I'm getting flashbacks to watching all of his Ohio State games.

Or Washington-Green Bay, Minnesota-NYGiants, New England-Pittsburgh...

Rivers has issues because his senior season was pretty unimpressive. He could be good, but I don't have a ton of faith. And Eli Manning was not a world-beater in college.

I KNEW Ben would be better than them. And when he gets healthy, Losman will end up better than them.

I really don't see how ESPN can't pick a game a week ahead of time like tonight pick a game already scheduled for Sunday and go "okay, that gets the 830 Slot". It can't be too hard to move a game 4 or 7 hours. such for instance, ESPN HEAD should look at next sunday's schedule and determine the other game of the week (since MNF is the figuritive "game of the week"), so next week they would go "Okay, we'll select Phi/Pittsburgh). I know there's the whole complication with FOX and CBS with that system but you know, I don't care. I don't have DirectTV, meaning i get 3 games on sundays, one being the bengals and the other often being the browns game and some random game. I'd like to see the "game of the week" prominently featured on Sunday Nights. Not CHICAGO VS S.F!

Sure the Crew won't like it but not like Disney cares about it's employees.

Hell, wouldn't it be quicker to list the games this week they wouldn't have picked?

And I can't think of one. Even Buffalo v Arizona had better star power and potential to be good than this.

You know, maybe they just figured the viewers were going to be getting smashed for Halloween and doing parties and stuff and figured "Why waste a meaningful game?"

The problem with that is it screws over fans going to the game. You can't just say oops sorry we know you'd planned for this to be a 1pm game, now it's 8, hope you didn't have plane tickets! They do that enough with the Sunday night basebase game.

True but if you announce it a week ahead of time, it's easier for the fan to move that said plane ticket to a red-eye/early morning flight if a fan really does fly to see a game. If he's willing to fly, i doubt moving the game up a few hours will affect him.

Besides, if anything it gives fans more Tailgate time and god knows they love that.

I love how he throws back to back interceptions.

well, he's starting for the Chicago Bears. What else would you expect from him?

Peterson must have had a spring implanted in those crossbars.

If they had the option of picking a different game, they wouldn't have went with SF vs. Chicago.

Personally I didn't think SF would be this bad this year. Losing TO hurt them, but they had a decent defense and I was expecting Barlow to have a good year. The Bears weren't that bad before losing Grossman, and even after he got hurt they've kept scores close.

And I said to myself...what a wonderful world.....

Packers beat the `Skins heading into a bye week where they can finally rest up all those nasty injuries right at .500 coming out the following week against a Minnesota team that got killed at home by the Giants. And the always schizophrenic Lions getting beat today by the Cowboys.

Hey, Green Bay beating Washington today also means (supposedly) that Kerry will win the election. Amazing too, this is the first time all year that Green Bay has turned the ball over and won a game despite the turnovers. Washington's defense is good, but apparently not good enough. Thank god their offense is horrible... Brunell really looks like he's past his prime. He was constantly off-target, overthrowing or underthrowing his receivers all day.

What a great day. Go Pack!

Brunell needs to be benched, NOW. I know that it was a bogus call there at the end(the stupid bogus motion call against the Skins that called back their go ahead score), but Brunell was pretty bad all game long, especially missing Cooley wide open in the endzone. There is no reason to think Ramsey couldn't have this same team at 2-5 right now. Why must the Skins keep losing like this. At least get blown out, and let me leave the sportsbar early so I can cut down on 4th quarter beer.

I was watching the game with a pretty even crowd, actually made real good friends with this Skins fan who I hadn't seen at the bar before (hell the guy even offered me a job at the golf course he works at) and we all came to the agreement that the officiating was terrible for both sides; what the hell was with that chop block call on Favre (which by the way led to Washington's first score.. I remarked at this time "Well hell, I guess they figured Washington couldn't get any offense on their own so the refs gave them some") in the 2nd quarter?

Another thing which I've said time and time again.. If you deserved to win, you shouldn't have let it all come down to one bad call or one bad play... And yes, that includes 4th and 26. (there were so many things I could have pointed out that they did wrong, that play in particular was just one of the lowlights) That Redskin offense was PATHETIC the whole game against a mediocre Green Bay defense.

I am also coming to the conclusion thanks to Clinton Portis and Olandis Gary that it's the system (not to mention the ridiculous amount of chop blocking) and not necessarily the running backs. Or is it just that Portis has that bad an o-line in front of him now?

Redskins oline wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for injuries.

Patrick shilling a mike Ditka interview big time, who cares, seriously? ESPN is grasping for straws. How many sideline reports have they done with Suzy Kolber? Hey, look at the pretty girl!, don't worry who's playing in the game It's obvious they are trying to distract the audience from the fact there are two 1-5 teams playing.

They are completely ignoring the game here. Koebler and then 5 minute interview with Ditka.
