Guest Vitamin X Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 For the record Popular Vote: Kerry 51 Bush 45 Badnerik 2 Nader 1, Others 1 Electoral Vote Bush 272 Florida - Kerry Iowa - Kerry Hawaii - Kerry Wisconsin - Bush New Mexico - Bush Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to agree with this. Though with Kerry winning Florida along with the safe states like California and the New Englanders, I don't know if I'll agree with the electoral vote prediction Popick had.
Guest Retro Rob Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I'm not gonna pick numbers, but I say Kerry will end up taking this one.
Stephen Joseph Posted November 2, 2004 Author Report Posted November 2, 2004 For the record Popular Vote: Kerry 51 Bush 45 Badnerik 2 Nader 1, Others 1 Electoral Vote Bush 272 Florida - Kerry Iowa - Kerry Hawaii - Kerry Wisconsin - Bush New Mexico - Bush Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to agree with this. Though with Kerry winning Florida along with the safe states like California and the New Englanders, I don't know if I'll agree with the electoral vote prediction Popick had. If you agree with how the swing states go down, then Florida doesn't matter. That's the irony. Bush doesn't need Florida to win, though it will be close =) Umm, winner gets like bragging rights
Guest Vitamin X Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Actually with the safe states (I'm talking the New England region, New York, Illinois, California) along with the swing states that we both predicted, that's good enough for 206 electoral votes. Florida has the fourth most electoral votes after California, New York, and Texas, and has only 6 more than Illinois. So I think it's safe to say it does matter.
Stephen Joseph Posted November 2, 2004 Author Report Posted November 2, 2004 My point was that Bush can win without Florida given the rest of the swing states
Dr. Tom Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Popular Vote: They'll both have under 50%, but Kerry will have the edge Electoral Vote (#) Bush wins, 290-248. Florida: Bush Iowa: Bush Hawaii: Kerry Wisconsin: Bush New Mexico: Kerry
Guest Crazy Dan Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Wow, this will be a close one. I really don't know what will happen. But I do think Bush will carry Florida, NV, and pulling the upset, New Mexico. As well as most of Colorodo (the votes get split). I think Kerry wins Minn, Penn, and squeeks out Ohio (in an upset of some sort). Thank God I bet no money on this, unlike my brother who put 500 on Bush winning. But who knows what to expect. From my understanding, many polls did not include all potential voters. There is much larger youth movement (good/bad) that will have the percentages up from 2000. Many of the first timers are still in their liberal phase, before they make money of course . Also, since cell phone users were not polled, it is a tossup to who they vote for. So these voters could help Kerry out, all depending how many don't get too stoned or slack off and forget to vote. Even though, I think that Bush will squeek this one out, but that could change by tonight. All I know that even in the small town I live in, there was a huge lines for voting at 730am. This is the trend across the nation as witnessed on TV. If the number of voters is higher, this could help Kerry. I heard that Bush & Co. were hoping for a smaller turnout, due to them knowing that their base is not really going anywhere. But additional numbers of voters might be more in the camp of Kerry. All I am hoping for is for a clean election. Last thing the States needs is another tainted election, for both candidates. Either one will have their work cut out for them in the comming four years. This is will be interesting to see who wins it and all I know is that anything is possible.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I will make the bold prediction that Kerry supporters predict Kerry will win, while Bush supporters predict Bush will win. no, seriously.
cbacon Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I'm a Kerry supporter predicting a Bush win. I'll never be more happy to be wrong.
NoCalMike Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Well I wrote in Nader, after considering voting for Cobb. California will go to Kerry anyway, so no harm done I guess. I am predicting a very tight, much disputed, George W. Bush victory Oh btw. What kind of ballots did you guys have? This is my 3rd time voting, and this time instead of punching your selections in, it was like a scantron sheet, where you just bubbled in your selections.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 We have electronic where you push buttons next to the candidates names and then hit a vote button when you're finished.
Guest Retro Rob Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 We have a little lever next to each candidates name. You pull down the lever for the candidate you want.
teke184 Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 52% Bush, 47% Kerry, 1% Nader Electoral votes- 317 Bush 221 Kerry Florida, Iowa, and New Mexico will definitely go Bush. I have Hawaii and Wisconsin in Bush's column as well, although I'm less sure of that.
AndrewTS Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 This is my 3rd time voting, and this time instead of punching your selections in, it was like a scantron sheet, where you just bubbled in your selections. "Number 2 pencils only! Be sure to fill in the circle completely! If you want to change your vote, be sure to erase thoroughly!" That's messed up. We have machines that you push the lever to close the curtain, flip the little switches to select our choices, then pull the lever to lock in the vote and open the curtain (it uses punch cards, I believe). I've noticed plenty of people who can't figure it out, of all ages. *sigh*
Dr. Tom Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 We had touch-screen technology here, replacing the paper system that had been in place since the earth cooled. Some goober working at the polling place asked me if I needed help with the touch-screen tech. I just laughed at him.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 We have electronic where you push buttons next to the candidates names and then hit a vote button when you're finished. The same. It was rife with germs.
