Why was Ohio called? It seems there are still a lot of votes to count and everytime they get closer to 100% reporting, the gap narrows. Kerry is now down by less then 100,000 votes in Ohio, and this doesn't even count and "provisional" votes or whatever.

Bush's lead has remained steady at 120k.

Bush has won the state.

If Kerry wants to sick the lawyers on him, I say 'Bring it on', and watch American turn on him so fast it'd make even the most staunch liberals' heads spin.

NoCalMike, Bush has a lead of over 120,000 votes...IT'S OVER.

The Dems said they wanted it to be down to 50,000 when the night was over and then hope for provisional ballot help. Right now it's over 120,000.

And contary to popular belief, Bush wasn't supportive of the amendment to make gay marriage illegal.

I don't feel he truly is/was either, however he milked it like he was in the states that he needed to.

Well he's not stupid. But he wasn't prepared to move on it.

He honestly doesn't give a damn about civil unions and if some states want to make it legal. He just has a problem redefining the marriage laws.

What's interesting is that Kerry has a 100,000+ lead in Michigan (CNN hasn't called Michigan eitehr i dunno about everybody else)... roughly the same type of lead... is that too close to call also???

Michigan is at 76% so yes

Ohio is at 95%, it should be accepted by now that it's over and done with sadly.

This is something that Kerry said should be left up to the states as well. And, like it or not, the states are making their choice. I personally don't care one way or the other, but the states should be the one deciding this and they are.

States don't decide straight marriage. States shouldn't decided gay marriage. It's as simple as that.

States most assuredly DO decide straight marriage. You have to get a license for a reason.

What, abortion?

1) There is no right to it.

2) Bush has not begun to even propose it.

Not only abortion, but equal pay (which has gone down considerably under Bush)

I'm supposing you forgot to provide proof for this.

and the whole controversy over the Morning After Pill. I should also mention that he wants to make parental consent mandatory for teenage abortions, when a 15-year old girl may be getting an abortion because her father raped her.

I love when anybody is ACTUALLY trying to use that as an argument.

Weird, a 15 year old kid needs parental permission to go on a school field trip --- but for abortion? Nah, no need for that.

There are multiple issues here. As for abortion, it is totally a right because it's a woman making a decision about her body, and I have no objections to it as long as it happens in the first trimester. Bush was asked point blank in the debates if he planned to overturn Roe v. Wade and refused to answer the question. If he doesn't, he should have said no.

It's a stupid question. He has no ability to overturn Roe v Wade.

That's free market for you.

No, that's major corporations getting tax breaks to ship jobs overseas.

Then gripe at Congress.

You are aware that lawsuits are why there is a lack of flu vaccine, right?

I don't buy that. How can a lawsuit result in contaminated vaccine?

Lawsuits slashes the number of vaccine makers from 7 to 2. That and Clinton deciding to have the gov't buy the vaccines, annihilating the profit margin, while not protecting them from lawsuits.

Thus, suits came, making the vaccine wasn't worth it, and many opted to stop.

So, we're stuck with 2 makers alone.

And that melodrama is what was being referred to.

      -=Mike

And for some reason, you're scared to say, "Gays didn't lose and here's why", "Women didn't lose and here's why" or "The working class didn't lose and here's why."

That's why this folder has the reputation it does.

Loss, you're blinded your fears. It'd be a waste of my time to try and correct you. I feel for you and hope you can rejoin reality.

It's too close to call because there's still 25% of the precincts left.

However, I still think that Kerry will pick up the state by a few points.

I'm done with CNN. I'm just listening to Air America now. I can't tell if they're trying to arrange people to protest in Columbus or what.

You should keep watching CNN - they're all swearing that "We can't possibly proclaim a winner tonight."

It's amusing in its ridiculousness.

Okay, it turns out AAR still lists it as too close.

"Don't believe Fox News and NBC for a minute, there's a reason nobody else has called it except for them."

Because NBC and FOX are SO similar.

Can you explain that? What do you mean? He is under 100,000 from leading Bush in Ohio. What "ASTRONOMICAL" numbers?

About 200,000 votes are out. Bush leads by more than 100,000. Kerry isn't winning.

It's not melodrama at all. It's a very real, very dangerous fear that I'm going to be denied equal rights because of my sexuality, that women I care about deeply are going to have their rights taken away, that jobs will continue to be shipped overseas without consequence, that more troops will die and that patients are going to be left with no rights to sue in the event of malpractice. Those are just a few of my concerns. I would rather be proven wrong about my fears than have them happen just to be right, but I'll admit that I'm worried.

It's easy for the rest of you to write it off as melodrama. You won. Gays, women and the working class lost.

Oh lord...

Look, I havent made my ideas known, but this takes the cake.

Hear me when I am saying this. No woman is gonna have the rights taken away. Period. As for long as they are responsible with there bodies, the Country will not say shit. As for long as they are not screwing around with every Tom, Dick, and Harry and wanting to have an abortion because they cant handle the responsiblity then there fine.

Nobody is denying you a job. I dont believe that they will ever pass an Marrage Amendment... I have an Idea for you- why dont you move to a state that would let you marry who you want to marry (or at least have a civil union) They have states for a reason for these things you know...maybe you should...look it up?

The Outsorcing thing is NOT going to change unless the Economic situation in the US. Unless companies are making profit like crazy, the outsourcing will not stop. I do agree that Nafta and Gaft should be despanded forever.

I dont have an opinion on the war, but if Bush (looks to me he might take it) wins, he must take care of it, otherwise...

Malpratice... COME ON... Doctors are human. Of course there are Doctors out there that only made it with C+ on there final exams, but the even the best make mistakes... Unless it was REAL Malpratice (and those cases are RARE at best) the Attorneys should back OFF.

Downhome, FoxNews is reporting that all 11 banned gay marriage.

Yeah 2 were obviously going to fall in, but weren't quite massive enough to call until now.

11 for 11 is NO surprise. People are overwhelmingly against gay marriage throughout the nation.

Muy interesante, thanks. It doesn't shock me either, I fully expected it and I would have to think that anyone with half a brain would have expected it also.

A lot of the commentators are bringing out the "Nixon conceded in 1960 with closer margins than this" argument.

I wonder how much it stings whenever a Democrat is told they have less integrity than Richard Nixon...

If the lead gets down to 40,000 then yes, sure you should wait for provisionals.

Right now, Bush is actually pulling away. Dayton, which is highly republican, is where some of the 200,000 are out which means Bush could be up 130,000 or more.

So I mean, I don't get this. It's becoming childish.

At 90%, I wasn't ready but now...this thing is over and done with.

How has the administration forgotten that?

By politicizing gay marriage to gain the support of the religious right. I know, I know, it's a state issue, which is why Bush felt the need to make his stance known.

*rolls eyes*

Bush doesn't like it. That's his position.

The same position as Kerry.

Like it or not, this is democracy. You can't say you support democracy for issues that don't impact you, but not in ones that do.

The voters spoke. The voters are hateful, scary people. It's democracy all right. I'm not bashing the system, I'm bashing the result.

What did I say months ago? Your side has done an insanely shitty job of making its case. That is the fault of the gay marriage proponents.

And, if Kerry actually DOES fight, the Dems lost the 2006 election.

    -=Mike

You mean 2008?

Nah. I mean the Congressional elections in 2006.

And since Kerry actually seems ready to try and contest a 120,000 vote margin, he has sentenced his party to death. And good riddance to them.

I'd like to see what the reactions would be if John Kerry came out and gave a speech in which he states that he lost straight up, and asked America to join together to once again become united.

Well, there is Provisional Ballots. The chances are slim, but I don't think we should begin the inauguration until they're counted.

Kerry would have to win at least three-fourths of the provisional ballots.

The odds, quite simply, are very much against him.

States most assuredly DO decide straight marriage. You have to get a license for a reason.

And any man and any woman, provided they're of legal age, can get that license. States do not have the right to refuse to acknowledge straight marriages from other states, nor should they.

I'm supposing you forgot to provide proof for this.

Kerry mentioned it in the debate and the fact checker psychos didn't say a word about it, yet they did any other questionable statements.

I love when anybody is ACTUALLY trying to use that as an argument.

Weird, a 15 year old kid needs parental permission to go on a school field trip --- but for abortion? Nah, no need for that.

Nope. No need. You ignored the fact that a teenager could be getting raped by a family member. Is she supposed to go to that family member and ask for the right to get an abortion?

It's a stupid question. He has no ability to overturn Roe v Wade.

He could have very easily said that.

Then gripe at Congress.

Gladly.

Lawsuits slashes the number of vaccine makers from 7 to 2. That and Clinton deciding to have the gov't buy the vaccines, annihilating the profit margin, while not protecting them from lawsuits.

No one should be protected from lawsuits. The fear of a lawsuit, ideally, should be enough to make people do the right thing. Clinton does deserve his share of the blame here, no doubt.

Loss, you're blinded your fears. It'd be a waste of my time to try and correct you. I feel for you and hope you can rejoin reality.

    -=Mike

Reality sucks the big one at this point, because the American populace is filled with people who aren't smart enough to think for themselves. Yeah, technically, they're working within the system, but the problem isn't the system, the problem is the mindset.
