Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Yet not protesting these things in the legal channels boils down to passively supporting them. Which I cannot do. Look, I support the abolishment of marriage as a government institution entirely and think we need to go 100% civil union legally, I've said that before. But pretentious pricks like you who believe that your faith extends beyond your life and into everybody else's lives and their politics annoy the piss out of me. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Well, you were the one bragging about "whipping" the blue states. God I feel stupid arguing about this but... The blue states would have half the troops. Most of the money. And probably the support of the entire world; except, maybe...POLAND! I FORGOT POLAND! Hard to believe. You know, since the blue states have Washington DC and Detroit to boost their whole "useless thug" numbers. All this shows is that the Dems have not retired "secession" from their playbook. The Democrats: We destroyed the country once. We'll do it again. -=Mike

Guest Loss Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Choose not to take them seriously all you want, and watch the state's economy go through the roof as more gays move there. I'm actually considering a move to the state in the next year or so, which should increase the Dow by at least 15 points.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Choose not to take them seriously all you want, and watch the state's economy go through the roof as more gays move there. I'm actually considering a move to the state in the next year or so, which should increase the Dow by at least 15 points. Feel free to move there. That was my suggestion from the get-go. Move where gay marriage is legal --- since with that one thing legal, all of the problems in your life will cease to be. Personally, I prefer states where the legislature is given the power to pass laws, not judges. -=Mike

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 You are trying to extend your beliefs onto SP. He doesn't accept them like you don't accept his. Don't be a hypocrite. Jobber's preferences don't aim to restrict or deny the civil rights of others. SP's do. At the point at which your preferences start to impede basic rights, they become invalid--or should--as a means of determining civil policy.

Jobber's preferences don't aim to restrict or deny the civil rights of others. SP's do. Guest Loss Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Does the public deserve the right to withhold rights from a minority? That's really stretching.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Does the public deserve the right to withhold rights from a minority? That's really stretching. There is no "right" to marriage, since it requires somebody else to approve of it. I can speak freely all I wish. I can't get married without somebody else agreeing. The states have every right to determine what is a recognized marriage. -=Mike
Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Hard to believe. You know, since the blue states have Washington DC and Detroit to boost their whole "useless thug" numbers. I don't really understand what you're getting at here. What is hard to believe? 53% of Iraq casualties from red states, 47% from blue states. Given that, you can no longer say "we know who supplies all the troops." And who are the "useless thugs"? And I love how you generalize about the whole Democratic Party (wanting secession) based on a few people who are either: a)joking OR b)extremists I don't base all of my opinions on conservatives on the words or actions of Timothy McVeigh and the militias. Lawrence O'Donnell isn't in the same ballpark as an extremist amongst Dems. Hate to break it to you. The South is where the military bases are. The South is the area where kids are raised to believe military service is a proud and noble thing. -=Mike
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 There's nothing proud and noble about our military, Mike, clearly, it's just AmeriKKKa's way to enslave the poor blacks and exploit them. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Well, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't wondered by so few children of politicians are serving in this war. Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 The South is the area where kids are raised to believe military service is a proud and noble thing. I never claimed that wasn't the case. But if that condition doesn't exist in blue states, then how come 47% of Iraqi casualties come from them? They hate the military but join anyway? There's nothing proud and noble about our military If you're suggesting that I am saying this about the military, then you can bite my ass.

Quoting out of context is fun, isn't it? I . . . bite . . . ass I'll be damned it IS fun I just misunderstood your comment. It didn't really fit with the direction of Mike and I's conversation so I thought it was directed at me--I thought you were implying that I thought that about the military. I simply misunderstood. I come from a family with a military background and have several relatives in Iraq, so I was a little touchy about feeling that my respect for the military was being questioned. I apologize for getting angry. But your post didn't really have anything to do with what we were talking about--so it was confusing.
