hbkhhhmark4life Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 There are so many possibilities as to who was really behind GTV but I wanna know some of you all's opinions. In my opinion it was Goldust at first because I do remember the first week it appeared it was GD TV then it was shortened to GTV, let me hear from ya smart marks.
JJMc Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 This should be fucking pinned.... It was Goldust at first, then he left, then it wasn't really anyone. I heard Godfather at one point. Who really knows?
GreatWhiteNope Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Wrestling Observer: 6) Alas, trivia happened and we never found out who was the mastermind pulling the strings of GTV. Who was it supposed to be? A: Goldust. The gimmick debuted as “GTV,” then was called “GDTV” for a couple weeks before returning to just plain “GTV.” An unsupported internet rumor had it that Russo wanted to bring in Tom Green as the GTV guy when Dustin left for WCW. Russo once denied this rumor, but then again, Russo once said that he felt he made no mistakes booking WCW and wouldn’t have changed a thing. Other famous GTV angles included Mark Henry sleeping with Mae Young, Val Venis sizing up The Big Show at a urinal, Eddie Guerrero showering with prostitutes, Droz discovering that he enjoys dressing like a prostitute himself, Mean Street Posse icon Pete Gas failing to score with Terri, Big Bossman relieving himself on the grave of Al Snow’s dog (who Bossman killed), and Chaz’s girlfriend staging a domestic violence hoax. And then there was the REALLY tasteless stuff.
JoeDirt Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I think after Goldust left they kept it around to help develop angles, do comedy, whatever. I think it was more of that "rainy day booking" where they'd book it and then try and figure out a way to tie it all together into a feud later if at all possible, like the briefcase and Austin at KOTR99.
Aero Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 There was also a rumor that it was Headbanger Thrasher (real name, Glenn Ruth, I believe) was behind it. GTV = Glenn-TV. I heard that rumor alot. Plus, it would sort of make some sense, because when GTV showed the footage of Chaz's girlfriend, wasn't it Thrasher who randomly showed the footage to everyone to help out Chaz?
The Tino Standard Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Along the same lines of GTV, Bischoff brought out "F-View," which was basically cameras mounted in every room backstage to catch anything at any time (Bischoff to wrestlers: "... and if you don't like it, well I say F-VIEW!"). It was actually a pretty smart idea as far as getting rid of the "Why is there a camera here, and why doesn't anybody notice it?" problem. Of course, the whole thing lasted maybe 2 weeks.
Guest LooneyTune Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 F-View DID set up the match of the century: Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Regal & Storm.
The Czech Republic Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 There was also a rumor that it was Headbanger Thrasher (real name, Glenn Ruth, I believe) was behind it. GTV = Glenn-TV. Thrasher being behind GTV would've been even more of a letdown than never finding out.
