CBright7831 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Ground Zero Suicide Inspired by Election NEW YORK (AP) - A 25-year-old man from Georgia who was apparently distraught over President Bush's re-election shot and killed himself at ground zero. Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said. Veal's mother said her son was upset about the result of the presidential election and had driven to New York, Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, told The New York Times in Sunday's editions. Friends said Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry. ``I'm absolutely sure it's a protest,'' Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. ``I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic.'' Police were investigating how Veal entered the former World Trade Center site, which is protected by high fences and owned by the Port Authority. 11/07/04 09:59 © Copyright The Associated Press. The Czech Republic Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Well at least he followed through with his stupid plan. More than you can say for most liberals.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Yeah, ummm sucks that he died. But in a more accurate way, I think we're all a little better off.
bob_barron Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 It's a shame it wasn't INXS or C-Bacon
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 It's a shame it wasn't INXS or C-Bacon Ditto
2GOLD Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Yeah, symbolic of what a douche he was. To take your life where a large group of people had their lives ripped from them proves to me he was an asshole.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I really can't imagine being so upset over a election that you would kill yourself. I mean it's just 4 years. Oh well, society is better off without him.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 At least he can't vote again. I wonder if he even voted for this election. It's funny hearing all the college students whine about Bush yet barely any of them went out to vote.
Highland Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 And people ask why the politicians don't bother catering to the youth vote.
Highland Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Alright, I'm no psychologist, but who else here thinks this guy did it solely for the publicity? Think about it: He travelled all the way from Georgia to NYC. If I was so distraught over the results of the election that I felt the need to take my own life I'd have pulled the trigger as I was watching the results sitting on my ass in my house.
Vern Gagne Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 At least he can't vote again. Don't tell that to the Democrats.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 ``I'm absolutely sure it's a protest,'' Wow, he even sucks at protesting.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Oh well, one less Democrat vote...
Guest Banders Kennany Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I was just about to post this in that thread about liberal idiocy after the big election. Good thing I checked here first. He should have thought this through. The story was off the main page in Yahoo in 20 minutes so it isn't likely to have the martyrdom effect on the left he wanted. Plus it seem very dumb to embrace a suicide victim as image of your party. To take your life where a large group of people had their lives ripped from them proves to me he was an asshole. I see it as a symbolic move as well. I don't think it makes him an asshole. Stupid but not as asshole.
Guest MikeSC Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Oh well, one less Democrat vote... Will they tell us where they bury him, so we can piss on his grave? -=Mike
therealworldschampion Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Will they tell us where they bury him, so we can piss on his grave? -=Mike You'd have to stand in line
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Oh well, one less Democrat vote... Will they tell us where they bury him, so we can piss on his grave? -=Mike That's far too nice, I'd be more for covering his tombstone with Bush/Cheney stickers.
Guest whatitistoburn Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Guy was from Georgia. Like Kerry had a chance there.
The Czech Republic Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 This is the kind of educated free thinking I'd expect, nay, demand, from a liberal.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Worst is people will try to make this selfish fuck some kind of victim, as opposed to, oh say, his friends, family and whomever he was planning to marry.
The Czech Republic Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Bush killed him, just like he did Christopher Reeve.
Guest Loss Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Very stupid move, and I can't bring myself to have sympathy for him. I do think pissing on his grave is overreacting, but it doesn't surprise me coming from conservative extremists.
AndrewTS Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Very stupid move, and I can't bring myself to have sympathy for him. I do think pissing on his grave is overreacting, but it doesn't surprise me coming from conservative extremists. Whatever. The guy is burning in hell now.
NYU Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Shotgun? Pssh, how ordinary. He should have hung himself off the roof of the White House. Find a glamorous way to go out. By the way, is anyone going to question how he got a shotgun into a restricted area like Ground Zero? Rather interesting question...
Skywarp! Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Very stupid move, and I can't bring myself to have sympathy for him. I do think pissing on his grave is overreacting, but it doesn't surprise me coming from conservative extremists. Not surprising at all. Most of the people here think they're so much better than any person who ever lived at any time. Yeah, I walked around thinking "WHY?" last Wednesday, but this kid needed to chill the hell out. It never gets THAT bad.
The Mandarin Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Almost as stupid as that kid who flew a plane into the building in Florida. If you recall, the people who worked there covered up the hole that was made with an American flag. I don't think anyone's going to cover an American flag over the hole in this guy's head.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 This is the kind of educated free thinking I'd expect, nay, demand, from a liberal. holy sweeping generalizations batman
Lil' Bitch Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 What a fucking idiot. Good riddance.
