6. Big Josh pinned Black Bart (3:46).

 

7. Oz pinned Tim Parker (0:26).

 

8. Barry Windham pinned Brian Pillman (6:08) in a "taped fist" match.

 

9. El Gigante pinned Sid Vicious (2:13) in a "stretcher" match.

That Rockers v Orient Express match was awesome. Incredible match.

Windham v Pillman was way too short, but good while it lasted. Sting and Luger v Steiner was fun. Eaton v Anderson was really good. but the camera work at the end was fucking shit, because they missed the pinfall. Flair v Fujinami was fun as well.

I'm guessing they cut out Mountie Vs. Koko because I don't remember that.

 

I'm still a mark for Slaughter defeating the Warrior! Still a great moment to me.

I remember enjoying the Barbarian vs Big Boss man match from the rumble ppv.

The 1991 Rumble match was probably the most blah rumble ever. Not that it was bad/stupid/ridiculous. It was just so uneventful and predictable.

The Rockers/Express match kicked loads of ass, Barbarian/Boss Man was better then it had any right to be, Virgil finally turning on DiBiase was a huge deal and had a monster pop. Warrior losing was a shocker for most marks.

 

1991 rumble was FANTASTIC! Sure, we all knew Hogan was winning but Valentine going 38 minutes, The LOD double eliminating 'Taker, Martel's 54 minute run was great, Luke's quickie elimination by Earthquake. It was a fun rumble. Hogan having his boy Knobbs being in the final 3 was a BIT much but i could look past that. That rumble was hella fun.

 

Windham/Pillman as short as it was; was fantastically fun. Sting/Luger Vs Steiners was amazing and Eaton/Anderson is criminally under-rated. Sadly, Fuginami/Flair each phoned it in.

Didn't they show something else in the Koko-Mountie spot on the CHV for Rumble 91? It definitely made the PPV itself and was actually decent.

I have both the live show and the Coliseum version, the match is only on the live show.

The 1991 Royal Rumble pay-per-view was awesome for the WWF for the most part. You had an awesome tag team match between the Rockers-Orient Express to start off, the Barbarian and Bossman working their asses off to put on a *** match, and an awesome turn for Virgil against Ted DiBiase.

 

HOWEVER, my one major complaint about the Royal Rumble is this: what the heck happened with Rick Martel? They put the guy in there to get the time record of 50+ minutes and then didn't even let him get to the final two. There was NO REASON why Earthquake and Brian Knobbs should've been left in there with Hogan. I think the WWF made the right call with Hogan winning the Rumble b/c the patriotic fervor from the Gulf War demanded it but the final two in the ring should've been Hogan and Martel. If you watch this Rumble you can tell the crowd is giving Martel a lot of heat but the WWF didn't even push him to the next level or even to the IC title effectively killing his heat with the dark match @ WrestleMania VII against Jake Roberts. Oh well...

Earthquake was Hogan's main rival at the time and it served as a quasi "blow-off". Knobbs was just there for no real reason other then he was Hogan's buddy. Knobbs wasn't really focused on, he was just "there", I guess they didn't really want Martel's 56 minutes to interfere with Hogan's finish.

 

Remember, Earthquake was still somewhat of a threat for the marks, Martel was a mid-carder who was lucky all night.
