Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 How is this fluff? This is presently one of the most widely-covered current events going. I think the point people are making is that it shouldn't be.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted November 13, 2004 The only reason that anyone gives two shits about this case is: 1. Lacy Peterson was pregnant 2. (More importantly) Lacy was a pretty woman and Scott is an attractive guy No other reason.
Styles 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Cerebus, you know I love me some fluff photos (hell I think I used that one with that exact same tagline first), but even if you don't agree that this should be a news story, it has been a national story for over a year, so the verdict is most defintely a current event worth talking about. If you wish to argue that the case itself shouldn't have gotten national attention, fine, but you can't argue it's not a "current event". I agree though, the media obsseses too much over this tabloid like crap...

Guest Cerebus Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Cerebus, you know I love me some fluff photos (hell I think I used that one with that exact same tagline first) Was it? I just found it on the google image search when I was drunk and found it funny. Oh yeah, well to tell you the truth, if I hadn't got back from happy hour as wasted as I was I probably would have avoided this thread altogether so I apologize. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Being I live in the Bay Area, we got the thrill of hearing about this every day. Cable News also seem to dedicate weeks upon months cough-On The Record-cough. I tried to not pay attention, as there are far more important things that should be talked about over a murder trial. But I did notice a few things that I thought made him guilty. -His cheerful disposition in public, even after his wife had gone missing. I know I would be freaked out if my pregnant wife had gone missing. -His fake tears when he was interviewed on Channel 2 in the Bay Area, it just came off as fake to me. If he had been like this all the time, I would believe him more. -When my wife goes missing, the first thing I know I would do is dye my hair and grow a goatee. And then I move down south, near San Diego and the boarder with about 10 grand in my pocket. You know, he might have found the kidnapper about 300-500 miles from Modesto. Just like OJ will find Nicoles killer eventually on one those golf courses. But hey, he was never going to make a run for Mexico, at all. - Back to his great searching of Laci, when my wife is missing, I immediately call my mistress and have a light hearted conversation. Or I go a step further, I search the Internet to download porn. And he had another chilling phone call that indicated that he might not be the wholesome guy he was made out to be. - I am not a fisherman, but I realize that Sturgeon are very large in size and require a large boat to be able to ge the fish onboard. Scott's boat was way too small to be able to fish for fish that size. Chances are if he really had caught any fish, the stergeon would have tipped the boat over or took him out to see. I don't even fish, but even I know you need a larger boat, and Scott did know how to fish. So obviously he is in idiot for using that excuse. -Also, funny how the area he was fishing in, was the same exact area Laci's body was found and that his boat was big enough to carry two passenegers, though. - And I loved his "I was golfing, no I was fishing" flip flop, sounds like someone's stories are mixed up. So I thought he was guilty and for once, justice is served. He is sociopath who thought that he could get away with this, which explained many tracks being covered up. But it was his actions, fake tears, and smug look that gave him away. I don't know if he wanted to be a Dad, or married to Laci, but he sure did like cheating on her. And I think he planned this out and tried to cover his tracks the best he could, but to me, he had no poker face and his actions after the disappearance really did give something away. So I hope he goes and rots in jail. I am against the death penalty, but I have no problem with giving Bubba a new squeeze to call his own. For once justice was served and not perverted by a hot shot defender. If only the OJ trial could have ended this way too...
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 You are a better man than I Crazy Dan because unfortunately I DO believe in the death penalty and any man who could actually kill his wife and unborn son should not only die, but die slowly. He's a piece of shit and I think he deserves the DP. If he gets Life, that'll work too. Just so long as he's not EVER out on the streets again.
Ced 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 I'm thrilled that this trial is almost over and I don't even give much of a damn about the verdict. All the focus this trial has received has grated against my nerves for way too long. It went long enough to make weeks upon weeks of tabloid news, give some dismissed juror an ill-gotten fifteen minutes of fame, and spawn a friggin' made for TV movie starring Dean Cain. All for what? Some guy with a dead pregnant wife and a mistress. I hope they put "and never to have his name and likeness mentioned or displayed in the media again" next to "death", "life in prison" or whatever they decide to give him, because, dammit, I won't feel any sense of justice without that stipulation. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 How is this fluff? This is presently one of the most widely-covered current events going. For all the wrong fucking reasons. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted November 14, 2004 You are a better man than I Crazy Dan because unfortunately I DO believe in the death penalty and any man who could actually kill his wife and unborn son should not only die, but die slowly. He's a piece of shit and I think he deserves the DP. If he gets Life, that'll work too. Just so long as he's not EVER out on the streets again. Well, if the death penalty fit the punishment of suffering, then I would be more in favor of it. But, the likely means of death will be Lethal Injection, which means the criminal goes to sleep and never wakes up. Doesn't seem to me that they are suffering too much. I think that the orginally, the death penalty meant that you would suffer in hell for enternity. Well I am skeptical that Hell even exists, so when they are put to death by lethal injection, they do not suffer like those they have murdered. The death penalty, to me lets you off too easy. Sure you lose your life, but there is no suffering once the injection happens. I think Scott Peterson is scum. He had a beautiful wife and a child on the way and this posed a roadblock to having mistress after mistress. And his cocky look on his face just screamed quilty. Except for a few photo ops to show how "distruaght he was", every other time he seemed not too concerned that his wife had gone missing. He is a sociopath who used everyone like Laci and Amber Fry and made a habit of lying to cover up his fidelity. He was so arrogant that he thought he would get away with murder, because he felt he was so much smarter than everyone else. I thought he was guilty ever since that interview where he started crying. Of course, you see other shots of him with a happy look on his face. I am glad logic was not trampled by Garagos. Circumstantial evidence might not be hard evidence, but for once, it was good enough to get a conviction. Now, don't get me wrong. Peterson should be locked away for life, no chance for parole. I just feel that lethal injection lets him off too easy, as you don't suffer, but fall asleep. Instead, I believe that Peterson should be put on hard labor duty for the rest of his life. No TV or forms of entertainment, just back breaking labor every day for the rest of his life. No book deals either, I really don't want to read about his viewpoint of what happened. You see, I am a liberal who is against the death penalty, but I agree that the Scott Peterson's of the world should pay their debt back, by working everyday until they keel over and die a cripple. That to me causes them more suffering then any lethal injection ever could. (Unfortunately in CA, there is no electric chair, fire squad, hanging, or gas room options, just putting them to sleep, so that is why I feel that the options of execution really don't fit the crime). Also, he should be put in a cell with Bubba, so that he can feel what is liked to be fucked over, like he has done to everyone in his life. And if he does get the death penalty, you will not see me anywhere near the jailhouse with protest signs. I will not shed any tears over his death, by no means. I just feel that he should be made to suffer, and lethal injection might kill you, but falling asleep for the rest of your life is pretty easy way to die.
