Guest bigm350 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 It seems to me that for quite awhile the World title has been booked to be the more coveted of the 2 World titles. It seems like everybody is gunning to take it from HHH. If this is true, then why would Vince degrade the WWE title over something that was created by the NWA and WCW? I think he should have the WWE title be something that everybody on SD! wants as well. Do you think this is done intentionally? Or am I looking too deep into it.
k thx Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Triple H's title is th most coveted because it's held by Triple H. Triple H's Title does't have the lineage because it was pretty much given to him as a vanity belt. [/smark mode]
Taker666 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 I think wel'll find out at Survivor Series to see if the WWE title match is the Main-Event or not.
The Amazing Rando Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Because Raw is the better show and he doesn't see the Big Gold Belt v2.0 as "WCW"s, even if some fans see it as such. Also, HHH's Belt is on Raw, which is the "A Show" whether anyone likes it or not.
Taker666 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 eh, I'll always consider SmackDown! the better show than Raw. regardless of what Vince or the WWE thinks.

IMO, right now SD is better. Raw is beyond stale. But this storyline they have going on right now involving the World title looks promising.

Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 The Raw title has no connection to the WCW or NWA Titles. The WWE Title has that.
Guest bigm350 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 The Raw title has no connection to the WCW or NWA Titles. The WWE Title has that. I thought it did. When Bischoff reintroduced the Raw title, I thought he pulled out the WCW and NWA lineage out of the WWE title, and it returned to the Raw title?

Because the WWE Title was now the exclusive property of someone else, Bischoff had no more say over it.
razazteca Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 When was the last time HHH defended the World Title outside of USA?
Guest bigm350 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 When was the last time HHH defended the World Title outside of USA? Somewhere at a house show in England maybe? I don't know.
Detective Comics Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Against Tajiri in Japan? I think both titles are presented as equal. I mean, you are just taking a current storyline and using that information to infer that the RAW title means more.

And he lets everyone know that he is the best wrestler in the world.
David Blazenwing Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 I think wel'll find out at Survivor Series to see if the WWE title match is the Main-Event or not. I'm calling it now that the WWE title match is mid-show like in 2002.

Lil' Bitch Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 By all rights, Booker T and Bradshaw should headline SSeries since it is for the WWE Championship and the only world title being defended on the PPV, but you know the RAW team battle will main event instead.
ChrisMWaters Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Hmm...when IS the last time that a Smackdown main event headlined a Co-Brand PPV? ... ... ...the Brock/Show stretcher match? O_o

JoeDirt Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 When did the WWE switch from the LHW title to the cruiserweight title?
ChrisMWaters Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 When did the WWE switch from the LHW title to the cruiserweight title? Around Survivor Series 01...maybe a little after. X-Pac was injured and not appearing, so he couldn't defend the Light-Heavyweight title. So they just used the old WCW belt for a while and called it the WWF Cruiserweight Championship until a new belt could be made. When X-Pac returned for the nWo, he didn't bring the Light-Heavyweight title with him.
Taker666 Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 People still watch WWE? uh, yah! Anyways, I remember at Unforgiven 2002, The first PPV where the World heavyweight title was defended, they aired past footage of Champions like Goldberg, Bret Hart, Sting Harly Race etc. hyping the World Title match. Not to mention Flair getting pissed at Triple H when he was handed the World title when Flair won that title 16 times. I think that pretty much sums it up that the World Title does carry the linage of the WCW title. Just looking at the title itself should tell you anyways.

Wasn't there a piece on WWE Confidential about how Sting, DDP and Goldberg had all worn the "World Title"? Remember, the US title was unified with the IC title at Survivor Series 2001, and the Intercontinental Title was on Raw when Stephanie brought THAT title back. Explain that, if you please.

I think that pretty much sums it up that the World Title does carry the linage of the WCW title. Just looking at the title itself should tell you anyways. It was the physical belt that Flair had held, but not a championship whose lineage was part of the NWA/WCW Title. The WCW and WWF Titles were merged into the Unified Title. This was taken to Smackdown, became their property, and was subsequently called the WWE Title. Eric took the old WCW Title belt out of a case, and called it the World Heavyweight Championship. Any WCW Title lineage went with, and is part of, the WWE Title. The World Title on Raw's lineage only goes back as far as the night on Raw when the the physical belt got taken out of the case and award to Triple H. .

They aired that episode of Confidential the same week the World title was brought back. I THINK flair even said "he was glad to see the World title back" in that segment. or something like that. and yeah, the US title from unified with the IC title, and the IC title was Unified in the World title. months later, they are brought back to life. does that mean the titles linage started in 2003?
TheBigSwigg Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I knew when I saw the title of this thread that it would somehow devolve into the fucking title lineage argument AGAIN. And is HTQ the only one who believes the Big Gold doesn't hold WCW/NWA lineage?

Explain that, if you please. Austin brought back the IC Title on Raw. Seeing as how the IC Title was merged with the World Title on Raw, he could do that.
