Reminds me of a burger from a local pizza place that the owner named "The Widowmaker".

Obviously he had to rename it about a week later but my GOD was it a big burger. Loaded with chesse, about 3/4 pound of meat and bacon.

Is this thing like 5.99 like that burger at Burger King? That Angus thing?

'Monster Thickburger' feasts on industry health craze

ST. LOUIS - As many fast-food chains introduce healthier fare amid fears of being sued, Hardee’s is introducing a hamburger with 1,420 calories and 107 grams of fat.

St. Louis-based Hardee’s Food Systems Inc. on Monday rolled out its Monster Thickburger — two 1/3-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun. The sandwich alone sells for $5.49, $7.09 with fries and a soda.

The introduction comes at a time when McDonald’s Corp., Wendy’s International Inc. and other fast-food giants have broadened their offerings of salad and other lower-calorie fare amid concerns that the industry could be held legally liable for America’s obesity epidemic. Last year, a federal judge in New York dismissed two class-action suits blaming McDonald’s for making people fat. McDonald’s was also skewered earlier this year by “Super Size Me,” an award-winning documentary that targeted the fast food industry.

Even before the new Monster Thickburger, the chain offered five sandwiches with 1,000 calories or more, and eight overall that have more calories than what was once the big-burger standard — McDonald’s 600-calorie Big Mac.

“Maybe this is a smart strategy because there are still folks out there who care about the taste and size of their sandwich, and less about their weight,” said Jerry McVety, president of the restaurant consulting firm McVety & Associates in Farmington Hills, Mich.

In trading Monday, shares of Hardee’s parent company, CKE Restaurants Inc., closed up 13 cents, or 1 percent, at $12.63.

Wow, I guess this is the real Six Dollar Burger...

Now if only there was a fucking Hardees/Carl's Jr. around here where I could get one

I like the way this man thinks

Plus you know it will come with a side of fries and a drink.

Personally I just get the burger and then get my drink elsewhere (usually home)

I never get fries anymore. They're just pointless filler.

Doesn't Carls Jr. now have a DOUBLE-Six Dollar Burger? I had the six dollar bacon/guacamole burger once, and almost died when I was down to about 3 bites left, I can't imagine trying eat a burger with ANOTHER meat patty stuffed in there.

Please that is nothing. There is this restaurant in NYC called Big Nicks. Their clame to fame is the sumo burger which is one pound of hamburger meat before cooking and it comes with fries and a sumo soda.

The only difficulty would be getting your mouth around it. Consuming the quantity would be no trouble at all.

If I'm going to get a big burger, I'm certainly not going to go to fucking Hardee's to get it. I have no problem eating a 3/4 pound burger, but if I'm going to do that, it actually has to be good.

I need bypass surgery after just looking at it. Good lord.

Jesus Christ that thing sounds enormous. That's a heart attack waiting to happen. I'm still going to get one though.

Oh man that makes me hungry. I am so going down to BBNT to get a No Disrespect.

That's their massive burger which comprises 3 beef patties, 3 slices of bacon, 3 slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato & onion. It's a serious war getting your mouth around it and keeping it all together.

BBNT's, for the uninitiated, which is all of you, is a fucking awesome joint which makes Burgers, Burritoes, Nachos & Tacos. They make everything on order in front of you, it's The Business.

"Don't sleep on Hardee's."  -Bill Plaschke

Probably the most intelligent words that have ever left his mouth.

Certainly the smartest thing he said all day today, considering that the Desperate Housewives skit was a topic. I saw that come up, heard "around the horn to Bill Plaschke," and ran for cover.

There's one Hardees in the state and it's semi close. Whenever I happen to be going that direction I will try to figure out a way to stop at Hardees on the way home.

They have some great burgers, but they aren't cheap. Down South on the way to Florida, I got a fried pork chop breakfast biscuit sandwich at Hardees and it was pretty good.

1420 calories isn't all that bad, but the 107 fat grams are disconcerting. I'd say one of these every now and then if you're fit and active wouldn't kill ya. It just looks like it would be a chore to eat.

God it looks good, but I'd rather just make the thing at home and cut out the patty and two pieces of bacon. I' really couldn't imagine eating more than half of that really.

I'd end up saying fuck it and eat it in two parts. Eat the Top bun and top burger together, then eat middle piece of cheese, bottom burger and bottom bun together.

It's now two open face burgers
