Somehow, this thread reminds me of the SNL he hosted, and one of the sketches was Steinbrenner as the entire team. It wouldn't surprise me.
Stephen 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2004 How much do you think George would be willing to spend for Pedro?. If Pedro wants a ridiclous contract, he knows where to go. For Pedro it comes down to either Loyalty or Cold hard cash. Hmm, wonder which one will win.
NYU 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2004 When I saw the subject line, I thought there was a possibility that this could be about possible huge news concerning the Mets. Imagine my complete and utter shock when I actually opened the thread.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted November 16, 2004 Pedro can get cold hard cash and loyalty both if he goes to Anaheim. Anaheim is NYY WEST and most of his friends are there anyways thus he'd be loyal to his friends.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 Update time. Pedro and his agent Fern Cuza are in George's office right now in tampa. Where did they go for dinner? Did Pedro order the steak or the chicken? We need more updates here! Money is no object when it comes to George in getting Pedro. He'll give him $15M+/yr for 4 or 5 years EASILY. The Sox pretty much offered him the same contract that they gave Schilling, so he can't bitch about them treating Curt better that him ('course, Curt did what he said he was going to do in his first year.) If the Sox lose him, but end up retaining Varitek while signing either Pavano or Clement (or both on the outside chance), I won't miss him. Pedro's age is going to start to become a factor sooner than later.

Imagine my complete and utter shock when I actually opened the thread. Here is a report for you. Mets trade Cliff Floyd and Jose Reyes to the cubs for of Sammy Sosa. The mets than sign Sosa to a 4 year extension for 60 million dollars. Happy now because you know it is going to happen, .

Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted November 18, 2004 I'd love to see him "shake" hands with george and say he wants to sign the contract on Live tv at a press conference. Then he goes to the podium and is all smiles and Cashman hands him the contract, he winks at the cameras, bends over to sign it and "signs" it. Steinbrener goes to put on the Jersey, Pedro puts it on and smiles and then promptly grabs the contract and shouts "I didn't sign it" and rips it and hoganizes the yankee jersey and takes off his suit jacket to reveal a Red Sox shirt. Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Even more funny, Pedro signs a massiave multi-year deal with the Yankees...knowing he is hurting and washed up. Then proceeds to "get hurt" on opening day and never pitches again, retiring with all that yankee loot

The Red sox go another 86 years without a World Series championship. That way in 2090 Joe Buck the VI will be interviewing some old lady who was alive in 2004 when the Red Sox last one.
