Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 warriors last tv match in 96 was a match vs owen. That same night monsoon had a pretaped interview stating that warrior was being suspended for not being at house shows and was out of the 6 man tag at International Incident. since the match was pretaped, they still aired it, which was funny as he was "allowed to wrestle owen" then would be suspended, which dindt make any sense (since raw was still taping 3 or 4 eps a night I think at the time, so the warrior situation occured after the taping obviously and they had to explain why he he was gonna be gone but it still seemed weird that he was on the air that night after the announcement) at the end of that match camp cornnete beat down warrior. Guest AdamF Report post Posted March 6, 2005 I just read that The Bushwackers caused a ruckus at a November 1991 house show by initiating a "Faggot" chant in a match against the Beverly Brothers. I also read that Bushwacker Luke handled contract negotiations between Vader and theWWF in 1996. I was there and may very well have been among the group of fans that got the chant going. The 'Whackers later joined in. WWF didn't put on a show in Vancouver for quite some time after that, and when they did return, everyone was on their best behaviour to a painful degree. MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 How exactly did the Ultimate Warrior debut in the WWE? Were there vignettes shown or what? And what show did he debut on? I think he got one of those "next week we'll see in action a newcomer here to the WWF, the Ultimate Warrior" intros at the end of Challenge when they were hyping the show for the next week. His actual debut was on Wrestling Challenge sometime in October. Was that steel chain thing with Hercules his debut? I honestly am fuzzy on the debut of Warrior. -=Mike The Hercules thing was in February, Warrior was mainly involved in squash matches from his debut until then and his only competitive tv matches were a 10 man battle royal on Superstars(won by Bam Bam Bigelow) and the 88 Royal Rumble. FWIW, he did get to squash Frenchy Martin at MSG 11/87.
strummer 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 it was always funny to hear how Gorilla Monsoon would react to Warrior and how Vince McMahon would. Gorilla would say something like "Here's a newcomer to the World Wrestling Federation, a man with immense strength, a man with a lot of energy, The Ultimate Warrior" Then Vince would just go insane "The UUUUUUULLLLLTIMATE WAAAAAARRRRRRRIOR" Warrior wasn't treated as a star until he squashed Honky. Really, I know all about the Bret Hart promo where he said it but what did it mean and why did he say it. Instead of dropping the WWF Title to Sid at the Thursday Raw special before the Feb 1997 IYH, Shawn vacted the belt instead, claimg to have 'lost his smile', and wanting to take a break from wrestling to recharge. It was just his way of avoiding another job.
LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 ::Helwig shows up at Titan.:: Receptionist: Okay, your escort will take you to see Mr. McMahon now. Vince: Come on in, Jim. Short drive from Queens? Jim: Yes, Mr. McMahon. ::Later:: Vince: Okay, from what I've seen of your tapes, what we've got here is a great character. You are exciting...you are full of energy...you've got the look...you are sports entertainment. Jim: Thanks. Vince: The one thing we admittedly do not like is your name. The Dingo Warrior may have been sufficient for a little promotion down in Texas, but this is the World Wrestling Federation. You are no longer The Dingo Warrior. Why we're gonna call you The Ultimate Warrior! THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR! THEE ULTIMAATE WAARIORRR! Jim: Yeah! Vince: You like that! Jim Yeah!!! Vince: Say it! Jim: DA UH-TUH-MIT WOH-RIIII-UH! Vince: Hell yeah! Are you gonna shake those ropes, huh?! Like I saw you do on those tapes? Jim: Yeah! Vince: Are you gonna run around the ring like a crazed buffoon?! Jim: Yeah! Vince: Jack, get his signature! ::Later:: Jim: Hey, mom, it's me. I'm now known as The Ultimate Warrior AKA The Crazed Buffoon!
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I read a Wrestlecrap write-up a while back on a song that Mene Gene recorded in the 80's where the lyrics went something like "All I wanna do all day is get high and eat pussy" (I kid you not) Anyone know anymore info on that? It sounds hilarious.

It was just his way of avoiding another job. The kayfabe reason besides the smile thing was that Shawn had a knee injury, when he came out to vacate his title he brought up the smile thing. so it was very confusing for marks worldwide (and I was one of them) considering that 3 months later he wa sback tagging with austin and flying around the ring. Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Shawn played up the knee injury through at least may... I have RAWs on tape where he shoots about how he and Bret hate each other on and off camera, and talks about coming back from his "knee" injury etc Don't forget at the Slammy's He's at the podium talking about the Ironman match...rubbing it in that "He" won it... then showing how legit his knee injury was (That was used in part to get out of jobbing to Bret at WM) by jumping down the stairs. deancoles 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2005 What was the deal with Rick Martel from 91-94? He was gone from May 91 until December, left in the spring of 93 until his tv return for the IC Title Battle Royal before leaving again in the Spring of 94.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2005 The most hillarious thing on that RAW where HBK vacated the title was when he was making his way to the ring, slapping hands with fans, someone grabbed his wrist, I believe trying to take his watch! Shawn had to like, yank himself away from the guy.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 Is the rumor true that Mean Gene used to walk around the back with Cocaine and offer it to WWF Female Employees if they'd have sex with him at his hotel? I've read that a few different places.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Back to the Brock/Show/Angle/Benoit deal for a second: How/when exactly did Brock get injured (meaning how long before the show, what move did it), and why did they have to take the belt off of him because of it? I mean, didn't he stay on TV even after the injury? Two more questions: Any reason why UT's last heel run didn't last longer than it did? What were the events that led to Crash Holly's firing? I mean, didn't he stay on TV even after the injury? Two more questions: Any reason why UT's last heel run didn't last longer than it did? What were the events that led to Crash Holly's firing? Brock got injured a few weeks before Survivor Series 2002, I think at a house show. It was in a match against Big Show, and it was a rib injury, possibly a break. They took the belt off of him due to both wanting to keep the WWE Title on house shows, and because they, for some reason, wanted to hurry up his face turn. Lesnar was wanting to work through the injury, but WWE wanted him to rest up, and kept him off house shows. Undertaker's last heel run didn't last long because it just didn't work. People didn't really want to boo him because of the nostalgia factor. Crash Holly was fired for disciplinary reasons, involving his drink problem. At one point back in 2000, he had passed out at an autograph session at WWF New York because of his drinking, and had been on perpetual thin ice ever since. Perhaps I am remembering incorrectly here, but wasn't the final nail in the coffin when he got fucked up at a party? Maybe at Stevie Richards' house? Or was that after the firing? JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 What was the first PPV that the WWF did a pre show video package for? I'm thinking Survivor Series 1995, did they do any before that? What was planned for the Invasion angle before they changed everything on that one memorable episode of RAW? Clearly they were building to a champion vs. champion match with a heel Austin and a babyface Booker T. Anything else?

Do you mean for one particular match becuase I remember they had one before In Your House 3 (September '95) to hype the triple header match. If you mean for the event in general I remember the first In Your House (May '95) had one.

Clearly they were building to a champion vs. champion match with a heel Austin and a babyface Booker T. Anything else? Vince's original plan was for WCW to be kept totally sperate from the WWF, and treated as a separate promotion. With no wrestling programming allowed on TNT, TBS, etc, Raw was going to be turned into WCW Nitro.

I could be mistaken but I believe Crash died in his sleep choking on vomit.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Crash was found face first on the floor of the kitchen, partially clothed in underwear, with a pool of vomit around his face. Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Did the Chad Austin match from 1990 ever air? You know, the one where Marty Jannetty paralyzed Austin with a botched Rocker Dropper. It was a squash tag match for Superstars but I'm just wondering if it ever was broadcast or leaked, since this Chad Austin guy is near-mythical (no video of the match, no pics of him). DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Interestinly enough, I think I have a picture of Chuck Austin in an issue of "The Wrestler" I found while cleaning the basement last week. It's a year in review (1994) and mentions the settlement. There's also an article "WWF 1985 vs. 1995" where they have a "computer" make a PPV for them. Weird. UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Some time in late '96, a group of wrestlers found out that Duke Droese was date raping ring rats. A small group of wrestlers, led by Ahmed Johnson, stormed Droese's hotel room one night and murdered him. The case is listed as "unsolved". I totally missed this before. WWF Wrestlers murdered Duke Droese? Are you sure about this? I don't think he's dead.
