GoldenEye Rogue Agent

Recommended Posts

So I picked this up yesterday. I figured it would be lame, but it's even worse than you'd think. It doesn't even feel finished. Feels like I'm playing a 60% done demo. EXTREMELY slow gameplay, boring weapons, boring enemies(plus I'm halfway through and have encountered like two different types of enemies), bare level design and a story that makes very little sense.

EA sucks.

Every EA Bond game has sucked. That's why they named this game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent. They were hoping some people would be dumb enough to think it would be like GoldenEye007 on the N64. Rare was the only company that has made a good Bond game, and it seems like they'll be the only ones, too.

Hey now, Everything or Nothing was a good game. But otherwise, I can't argue with the above statements.

I expected this game to be a mediocre cash-in, and by all accounts I have read, it seems to be just that. I was hoping for something decent, though. I may give it a rent sometime since I have 12 free rentals at Hollywood Video from when I bought my Xbox at GameCrazy.

Xbox.

And I'm sure the multiplayer sucks. The gameplay is really lame. I don't see it suddenly getting all great in MP.

The game is so slow sometimes I can't tell if there's massive slowdown or it's just the normal pace.

I'm not fully in the "sucks" category but it isn't very good. How somebody can take a double-shotgun blast to the chest point blank and still get up and continue fighting is beyond me. The AI is very good tactics-wise but their selling is terrible.

The World Is Not Enough was okay, and the multiplayer was somewhat decent.

That saves me the trouble of picking it up...

The concept of playing on the "bad" side seemed interesting but, since I wasn't really impressed with Nightfire or Agent Under Fire, I was going to hold off on this one for a while.

I enjoyed both Nightfire AND Agent Under Fire.

If this is somewhere along those lines, I'll pick it up.

I played it yesterday in EBGames. The thing that pissed me off is that your character turns SO DAMN SLOOOOW. I was getting shot at from behind and by the time I got my guy turned around to make a counter attack, I had lost nearly half my life.

I give this a vote of crap out of 10.

I rented this last night, and played it for awhile.

I have yet to notice this slowdown thing, that was brought up. The game seemed to move at a fairly decent pace, as far as I could tell.

This game isn't that bad, IMO.

I liked EA's other Bond games, but this one is nothing like them.

I don't see how you couldn't notice how slow it is. The game is is EXTREMELY slow and I like slow paced FPS.

Maybe it's just me...

I wouldn't be surprised if I started noticing it as I get further along into the game.

Did you start noticing this slowdown as soon as you started playing the game?

Second level or so.

Like with the assault rifle, you will shoot guys and it's like the game goes into slow mo.

I'm on the third level (Hong Kong) and I still haven't noticed it, yet.

However, I would recommend this as at least a rental, and nothing more, until the price drops. (For any of you who don't have this game) To be honest, after having rented it, and played it a bit, I would not pay $50 for this game, at all.

The weirdest part about this game, is playing as a character other than 007. Not that I mind it, anyhow.

Im almost willing to guarantee that Nintendo will re-release the original Goldeneye for the NDS.

That would be fucking awesome, but since Rare was bought out by Microsoft and EA owns the Bond license, it will never happen. :(

The license doesn't apply to pre-existing games. All Nintendo would have to do is pay the royalties for all the new copies they would sell.

I'm another who loved Everything or Nothing. I've played some very shitty games this year, and some very good ones, and Everything or Nothing is without a doubt one of the best. If they could make another Bond game like that, only an improved version of it, a bit longer, etc... we could be talking about one of the most perfect games ever. I hope they try another Bond game like that one again.
