PLAGIARISM! Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Back from Glastonbury, highlights were Stooges, Super Furry Animals and Hot Chip, pretty much as expected. Lily Allen is the most irritating person on the planet. The Who were fun I guess. The journey back was hell for a long long time. But fuck it, I rocked.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Were you on stage for Iggy? Did you see John Fogerty?
Gary Floyd Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 My thoughts on the new Beastie Boys album of instrumentals, The Mix Up: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......wait, what? Oh, nevermind. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
PLAGIARISM! Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Were you on stage for Iggy? Did you see John Fogerty? Â Was *just* too inebriated to force through the crowd. Nevermind. Didn't see Fogerty. Shirley Bassey's still got it, though.
Darthtiki Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Spice Girls will be doing a reunion tour....and few people here care
King Kamala Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I'm excited cause this has to mean the 90s revival is starting. Â Â It'll only be a matter of time till we see the "Alt Rock Never Stops" tour featuring Third Eye Blind, Candlebox, Sugar Ray and opener, Dishwalla.
godthedog Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 third eye blind was the first real concert i ever went to. Â i actually went for our lady peace, who were on before them, but still.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 No matter how times I had previously heard the song, it wasn't until just now that I noticed that the opening of Morrissey's "Tomorrow" completely apes the opening of "War Pigs."
PLAGIARISM! Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 'Certain People I Know' is a T Rex riff too, can't remember which song offhand. Ah well, Your Arsenal is one of the best things he ever did.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 There are still tickets available for the Morrissey show at an amphitheatre here in northern Virginia on Monday. $30 lawn, $48 orchestra. Should I go?
vivalaultra Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 I thought the Moz had to cancel shows cuz his throat was messed up.
Gary Floyd Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 I already mentioned this in the "Albums Listened To Today" thread, but I think Vol. 4 is the best Sabbath album, and nobody can convince me otherwise.
PLAGIARISM! Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 There are still tickets available for the Morrissey show at an amphitheatre here in northern Virginia on Monday. $30 lawn, $48 orchestra. Should I go? Â His band at the moment are great. Dunno how he'll be in an anphitheatre but I imagine it'd fit well with the whole 'comeback special' thing he's got going on at the moment.
King Kamala Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 I already mentioned this in the "Albums Listened To Today" thread, but I think Vol. 4 is the best Sabbath album, and nobody can convince me otherwise. Â Â It's obviously Born Again. I mean the guy from Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, how can ya go wrong?
Copper Feel Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 But Sabbath Bloody Sabbath shall always prevail. Are any of us ever going to present an actual argument for these albums?
King Kamala Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Well Born Again had Jesus fronting Black Sabbath. I mean come on!
Gary Floyd Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 It's obviously Born Again. I mean the guy from Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, how can ya go wrong? That's a terrible album. It's much better than Forbidden though. Â The thing is, after Dio left, Sabbath basically became Tony Iommi's project. Â Speaking of Deep Purple, "Highway Star" is their best song, with "Hush" being a close second. Â It's actually the s/t. The song "Warning" drags on for way too long, so I disagree. That is a great album though. Â
King Kamala Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Yeah, I hope you can tell I was joking. I've never even actually heard that album outside of some 30 second samples on ITunes. Â Â Hell, I don't know any fans of non-Ozzy, non-Dio Black Sabbath. But they got to be out there. I bet my cousin (Whose favorite band is Slaughter) likes 'em. Â Â Quick edit: Have to add, Slaughter is up there with Smash Mouth in terms of "Most misleading band names". Â Â Wait, after some fact checking, Mark Slaughter's real last name is Slaughter. Color me surprised.
Gary Floyd Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Yeah, I hope you can tell I was joking. I've never even actually heard that album outside of some 30 second samples on ITunes. Christ, I can be clueless. It's a weakness.
King Kamala Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 One more thought before I sign off, has there ever been a more undeserving compilation that KISS Greatest Hits Vol. 3? I understand Vol. 1 (1974-1982) completely and I even understand having a Vol. 2 (The hair metal, unmasked years). But I don't see anybody demanding a compilation of songs from Psycho Circus and their Unplugged album.
Hank Kingsley Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Alright, so I have Heartbreaker and Easy Tiger and now I'm loving Ryan Adams. Where to next? I heard both Gold and Cold Roses are really good.
justsoyouknow Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 If you can find the Suicide Handbook, track that one down. Gold and Cold Roses are solid, though Cold Roses could easily have been an outstanding single release as opposed to the bloated two-disc. Steer clear of Love is Hell and Demolition.
