Who Would You Draft?

Guest Breakdancingbatista

If you were in charge of the next draft lottery, what 10 people from each show would you trade?

OK, it's early and I'm tired, but I'll give it a shot. Btw, 10 from each seems pretty high... :

From Smackdown!:

- Kurt Angle (break up the UT/Angle power-trip, but he seems like he could use a fresh start anyway...I'm not really digging his new stable with Reigns/Jindrak at all)

- Chavo Guerrero (might as well get him out of Eddie's perpetual shadow)

- Al Snow (probably can't do much with him, but maybe he can be a mentor for some younger wrestler)

- Orlando Jordan (schtick with JBL is rather tired)

- Hardcore Holly (if he's not fired by then)

- Torrie Wilson (seems like she's been on Smackdown forever, maybe she can manage some babyface on RAW)

- I really can't think of anyone else from Smackdown who would be good to trade right now without really hurting Smackdown. I was thinking maybe Paul Heyman, but they already shot that down last year, where he didn't want to work for Bischoff. Luther Reigns could be a possibility too, but RAW already has enough big guys (Batista, Tomko, etc). I would also toy with breaking up the two announce teams...maybe have Tazz go to RAW and Lawler to Smackdown!, but I doubt Jim Ross would allow that.

From RAW:

- Shawn Michaels (Smackdown badly needs a new top babyface who can draw)

- Chris Jericho (see above, plus he's pretty much feuded with all the heels on RAW)

- Hurricane (put him back with the Cruisers)

- Stacey Kiebler (stick her with the more "entertainment" oriented divas)

- Sylvain Grenier (put him back with Rene, give Rob Conway a chance to fly solo for a bit)

- Steven Richards (do something with him, anything)

- Garrison Cade (not doing anything on RAW right now anyway)

- Yoshihiro Tajiri (like Hurricane, I think he'd be more useful in the Cruiser division...turn him heel again and maybe feud with Misterio?)

- Jonathan Coachman (why not? He's gotten really tiresome on RAW)

- Val Venis (again, why not? Just give him a new gimmick before he debuts on SD.)

This probably isn't the best list, but I think it shows how diluted both shows have become when it's hard to think of 10 guys from each show to switch brands.

Sorry to not offer 10 each (not yet, anyway), but Shawn Michaels desperately needs to go to SmackDown!, and not just because he's done everything that he can do on Raw without being turning or being pushed down the card, but because SmackDown! really needs faces to match up with their wealth of heels.

There could be some great matches come out of it too. Usually always a plus.

These will be somewhat unbalanced in order to help fix Smackdown a bit, but I will try not to bury RAW. I can't find anyone after the top 6 for each brand that I want to move.

To RAW:

1. Undertaker (Again, break up that Angle/Taker powerbase. But Taker has more power than Kurt so he can hold his own better against HHH. The live show also really helps Taker's surprise appearances.)

2. Torrie Wilson (Might as well get all the Divas on the same show. There aren't enough to split the division. Same as the CWs as we'll see later.)

3. Dawn Marie (Same thing.)

4. Mark Jindrak (He is the weak link in Angle's group. Send him back to RAW to join up with Coach & Cade.)

5. RVD (He doesn't fit in with the Smackdown guys at all, aside from maybe Rey Rey.)

6. Hardcore Holly (Maybe he'll try less shit with HHH around.)

To Smackdown:

1. Chris Benoit (#1 target in making Smackdown a better show. He also belongs with Angle & Guerrero._

2. Chris Jericho (Get him away from HHH at all costs.)

3. Yoshihiro Tajiri (CWs go to Smackdown)

4. Hurricane (Likewise.)

5. Rosey (If Hurricane is coming, he might as well too. He could be a good heel bodyguard type for Hurricane.)

6. Val Venis (Gimmick change and a jump is about the only thing that could salvage his once promising career.)

To Smackdown

1. HBK - hes pretty much fueded with everyone on raw that mean anything, and smackdown badly needs a new Face

2. Jericho - He would be a good upper mid carder, easy to see him and angle fueding

3. Sylvan Grenier - let him reprise the team with Rene

4. Eugene - Refresh him

5. Val Venis - New Gimmick, put him with Angle

TO RAW

1. Eddie - needs to be refreshed, on raw he wouldnt need to carry the show

2. Luther - Doesnt really fit with Angle i think,

3. Josh Matthews - Could make Raw a 3 man team, or Let him do heat

4. Torrie Wilson - Isnt doing anything on smackdown

5. Kenzo - why not?

I figure that Smackdown is in need of Faces and HBK is pretty much done on RAW, and they wont let Jericho move any closer to the top so let them move. By moving Sylvan Grenier you free up conway to do his own this and get the French team back togther, You could put Kenzo with Tajiri in a comedy role or somthing of that sorts. Really from smackdown you are only taking away 1 valuable asset and you get 2 back that are at least equal. Luther could go on his own or join up with christian . Josh Matthews could make the Raw team 3, and you could insert Snow into the Velocity spot

The problem with Shawn moving to Smackdown is that he gets hurt too much, and with Kurt Angle already on the show, they can't afford to have any more top stars that you don't know whether they will be around in a month or not.

To SD

1. Chris Benoit- Like Kahran said, he is the #1 guy they need over there right now if they hope to rebuild it and market it as a WRESTLING show.

2. Hurricane- Has been floundering ever since he debuted on RAW and belongs with Rey and the boys.

3. Regal- Break him away from Eugene, turn him heel and let him work his magic. Plus, Regal on the same show as Eddy, Benoit and Angle wouldn't be a bad thing.

4. Shelton Benjamin- Where Benoit goes, he goes. Already has built-in history with Angle and Haas and would really help SD in the "good wrestlers" dept.

5. Shawn Michaels- Has done all he can do on RAW. Let him be overrated somewhere else for a change.

To RAW

1. Luther Reigns- I really dig him as Angle's right-hand man but he has the potential to do so much more on his own.

2. RVD- Works better with the RAW crew.

3. JBL- I can't see him doing any more ME work on Smackdown after Armageddon is over and there really isn't a midcard to speak of on Smackdown so he goes to RAW and stiffs Jericho, Edge and Orton on a nightly basis.

4. Undertaker- Karhan hit it right on the head. Taker on a live show works much better.

5. All the women.

I'd move Michaels just to get him away from HHH. They keep on going back to those two as if it's some kind of "safe" match and feud, and they're exposing those two more and more each time and really failing to build the division.

Shawn Michaels to Smackdown

John Cena to Raw

Chris Benoit to Smackdown

Charlie Haas to Raw

Chris Jericho to Smackdown

Carlito Colon to Raw

Stevie Richards to Smackdown

Paul London to Raw

Jerry Lawler to Smackdown

Tazz to Raw

Nothing really new with my picks but this would shake up both brands and freshen each product up a bit. Pretty much you are taking established veteran workhorses like HBK, Benoit and Jericho and moving them to Smackdown. Getting all of them away from HHH and building Smackdown as a good wrestling show with fresh programs like HBK vs. Angle, Jericho vs. Eddie, Benoit vs. RVD or any of them plus the cruiser division. Raw is being estalished as the place for the new talent. With the ideal situation being HHH's role, as the future owner of the company, is to put as many of these guys over as possible. Cena gets a live mic and sparks some pop into his tired character. Haas gets moved to a place where he can reunited or feud with Shelton Benjamin. Carlito would fit in on Raw. Paul London may raise some eyebrows because you are removing him from the cruiser division but he can still have good programs with people like Hurricane, Christian or Edge, Simon Dean, Shelton, Haas or even HHH. The objective is to make Raw seem fresh and unlike the same show it was in 1998 like it currently does. Get all of the veterans out of there and make it the new breed's show.

The announce change would help both shows. Maybe Lawler could get more into his heelish smart ass commentary without with Cole to pick on rather than his obvious buddy/buddy relationship with JR. Tazz and JR worked nice together on joint PPV's.

To Smackdown:

  • Stacy Kiebler
  • The Hurricane
  • Tajiri
  • Shawn Michaels
  • Christian
  • The Coach
  • Chris Benoit
To Raw:
  • John Cena
  • The Big Show
  • The Dudley Boyz (D-Von & Buh-Buh)
  • Charlie Haas
  • The Basham Brothers
The way I see it, The Big Show & Shawn Michaels are both main eventers, and it would freshen up both shows. That should be an even trade. Cena would be even for Christian, as both are midcarders that need spicing up. Christian could go for US gold and Cena for IC gold. They'd pretty much remain where they're at on the card, only the match-ups would be fresher.

Tajiri & The Hurricane would go to the Cruiserweight division. Stacy Kiebler would go to Smackdown with Torrie Wilson, Dawn Marie & Jackie Gayda to wonder around aimlessly showing off their asses.

I'd eliminate the tag team titles from Smackdown altogether. Then, moving the Dudley Boyz, The Basham Brothers and Charlie Haas to Raw, it could be a Raw exclusive division. It's not like the women's division will be around for much longer. They have four workers!

I'd move the Coach to Smackdown because him trying to get heat off of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler is played out. Let him try to add some personality to someone like Michael Cole.

You can't really do that because, believe it or not, there are a lot of fans who tune into wrestling partly because of the Turkey Gravy matches and what not shit that we smarks dislike.

I'll do my best for this...

RAW to Smackdown:

1. Shawn Michaels - He desperately needs to change, because this never ending feud with Trips is tiring.

2. Kane - On Raw, he'll never be given a fair shake with HHH around. Necrophillia anyone?

3. The Hurricane - He's a Cruiserweight...on the show that doesn't have any.

4. Tajiri - See Hurricane

5. Todd Grisham - He Sucks and I hardly like Smackdown anyway.

6. Coach - Let someone else beat his ass up.

7 & 8. The New Arabs - Canned Heat incase the live crowd doesn't buy it. I'm really stretching here, by the way.

9. Christian - I still consider him in Edge's shadow for some reason.

10. Viscera - Just because.

Smackdown to RAW:

1. John Cena - Because everyone else should stay that's important.

2. The Underaker - See Kane.

3. Orlando Jordan - JBL's Lap Dog gets annoying.

4. Hardcore Holly - Let Chris Benoit stiff him.

5. Josh Matthews - Make him team up with Maven?

6. Tazz - Let him take over for Lawler. Lawler can do Heat, and Grisham can take over with someone who doesn't suck as bad as him (Cole), although it's a close race.

7. Rene Dupree - He's been feuding with RVD for over a year!!! Give him a new opponent to work with.

8. Mark Henry - No one remembers he was on RAW, so just fake it.

9. Paul Heyman - Maybe he can manage Batista. At least he has some talent, unlike Heidensuck.

10. Al Wilsons Corpse, or maybe Charlie Haas to feud with Benjamin.

Hold on, ten guys go from each brand on this? I thought it was just five from RAW and five from Smackdown, and then the GM's can make any trades they want along with that.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was six each this year. Of course they could always change it, but who knows.

SmackDown! gets...

- Shawn Michaels (Big name gives SD! a big lift. Also: No more HHH/HBK nonsence!)

- Garrison Cade (For HBCade)

- Ric Flair (Get this man out of the ring!)

- The Hurricane (Good cruiserweight, deserves title shot)

- Stacy Keibler (So JHawk will watch SD! Also: More women's matches. Also: Get her away from the title!)

- Randy Orton (Just to shake things up)

RAW gets...

- John Cena (Bigger push on RAW. Also: Chance for him to go heel.)

- Road Warrior Moore (Following Mattitude)

- The Big Show (To replace A-Train as Big McLargeHuge)

- Gangrel (If he's still with the company, put him with Edge and Christian for the Brood!)

- Matt Morgan (To compensate for Cade)

- The Undertaker (Like HHH last year, never makes it to RAW as they trade away some other guys)

I'd have Mick Foley be the Play-by-Play announcer for SNH, replaceing Joel Stein over here.

Mmkay, I'll go five each...

Raw gets:

- Kurt Angle

- Al Snow (Once Tough Enough is over.)

- Shannon Moore

- Doug Basham

- Danny Basham (Then give them a gimmick or something so there won't just be one heel tag team on Raw.)

Smackdown gets:

- Shawn Michaels

- Christian

- The Hurricane

- Stevie Richards

- Val Venis

Obviously Raw gets shafted, but Smackdown REALLY needs fresh talent right now.

To Raw:

1) Big Show: A big name to counter HBK going to Smackdown. Has fresh matches with HHH, Edge, Snitsky (uggh), Kane, etc.

2) Charlie Haas: Has a nice feud with Shelton waiting to happen.

3) Jackie: Send her along so she can be with her husband.

4) Hardcore Holly: Just move him away from Dupree, lol.

5) JBL: He won't have the title by the time the draft comes around, so why not? Again, he's faced all the top challenges on Smackdown during his title reign.

6) Doug Basham: He's the better Basham, so give him a singles push or something.

To Smackdown:

1) Shawn Michaels: As its been said, he needs to get off RAW. Get him some fresh matches on SD, he's already burned through HHH, Benoit, and Kane on RAW, and we REALLY don't need to see HHH vs. HBK again.

2) Hurricane: Get him in the cruiserweight division, he's dead weight on RAW anyways.

3) Stacey: Balances out Jackie going to RAW, she can't wrestle anyways. Have her manage someone on SD.

4) Rob Conway: Find some other Canadian guy to team with Grenier and let Conway break out as a singles star.

5) Kane: Another case where he's burned through a lot of the top programs on RAW, as he's had PPV matches with HHH, Benoit, Snitsky, and Edge already. Get him away from Lita and that horrible storyline.

6) Tyson Tomko: Not doing anything on RAW.

--Of course we'll probably get something again where a big star is drafted and then traded back, or something like that. The keys here are HBK and Kane to Smackdown , while moving JBL and Big Show to RAW. This allows Smackdown to have somebody else take over top heel position (Angle, and then obviously someone else needs to turn, because you'd have HBK, Kane, Eddie, RVD, Misterio, Undertaker all as faces), giving you fresh matches. Conway should also get a big singles push, I think.

From RAW To Smackdown, I'd move:

-Batista. Break him away from Triple H and make a star out of him away from the shadow of Evolution. Could have great matches with Eddie and Rey, as well as Angle if Batista were to turn face (which I think he could pull off well).

-Steven Richards. Joins JBL's staff using pretty much his RTC gimmick. It's not much, but you could pair him off with Orlando and make team out of them, at least adding to the division and giving them something to do.

-William Regal. Break him away from Eugene, send him to Smackdown. Could work well as an upper midcard face or heel (preferably heel). Eddie/Rey vs. Regal/Angle could be gold.

-Chris Jericho. DESPERATELY needs a fresh run as a face or heel somewhere. Get him off RAW, as he's taken on the entire roster several times over already.

-Rhyno. Could easily be shifted into an upper midcard role reminiscent of his arrival in the WWE.

From Smackdown to RAW:

-Big Show. Another challenge for Triple H, a foil for Snitsky (yikes). If heel, Benoit has worked decent matches with him before, and I think Shelton/Show could be enjoyable.

-Chavo Guerrero. Doesn't have to be relegated to cruiserweight division. Could make an awesome heel tag team with Christian, IMO. Could also have great matches with Shelton, Benoit, Hurricane, Tajiri, Simon Dean (I think), etc. Good in a midcard role, but if people get into him, he could hang higher on the card.

-Charlie Haas. With Evolution down to Flair/Triple H for now, he joins Evolution as the "best pure athlete in the sport today". Feud with Benjamin inevitable.

-Jackie Gayda. If for anything, just because WWE won't split them up as a couple.

-Hardcore Holly. I hate the guy, but he'd just be around for Heat duty and the occasional RAW tag match.

Cena is a midcarder with a gimmick that has sucked for over a year.

Christian is a midcarder who won't let go of his E&C personality.

I'll agree that the Cena character has had it's balls cut off with the babyface turn but he sells merchandise and is considered a star by the company despite his mid card status. You don't see a WWE films movie vehicle for Christian, do you? So yeah, they are different. They look at Cena as a crossover star and he will more than likely get a WWE or world championship before his career ends. You can't say the same for Christian.

I also don't think Christian is stale and his E&C personality isn't his detriment. It's over with the crowd but he's continuously hurt by their horrid creative team.

From Raw to Smackdown

HBK

- The fued possiblys are endless for him.

Chris Jericho

- Should be pushed as a major player and championship contender(maybe champion at some point)

Rob Conway

- Push him into the U.S. Title divison. He can be apart of Kurt Angle's group with Reigns, taking Jindrak's place.

Hurricane

- Help boost the CW divison, is a great worker and can produce good matches with people in the divison

Tajiri

- Read Hurricane

Rosey

- Is really nothing without Hurricane, plus he and Hurricane can still be a tag team.

From Smackdown to RAW

The Undertaker

- Freshen him up with fueds with HHH, Batista, Snitsky, Edge etc.

John Cena

- The perfect way to elevate him is to fued with HHH. If not turn him heel and have him fued with Benoit or Orton.

Charlie Haas

- Have him join Evolution and fued with Shelton Benjamin

Rene Dupree

- Have him tag team with Greiner, he is still young and can be pushed later.

Mark Jindrak

- Give him Coach as a manger, and have him doing his "Total Package" gimmick like when he 1st came to Smackdown.

WWE sees Cena and Orton as the future of the company. They see Christian as a midcarder who won't be any higher than he currently is.

I'm not saying anything about talent or anything like that...but the WWE clearly sees Cena in a much higher light than they do Christian. He's easily one of the biggest stars on Smackdown.
