hbkhhhmark4life 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Hey everyone. I just got finished watching WrestleMania X-7 (17) and i must admit that that WrestleMania was probably the best one that was put together as match depth (number of matches) and quality of the matches. Help me out cuz i wanna hear opinions from others as well.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Wrestlemania X-7 is possible the best PPV ever, so no argument here. 3 ****+ matches, 4 ***+ matches, and only one bad (but quick) match. Austin vs. Rock: ****1/2 HHH vs. Undertaker: *** Battle Royale: N/R, but entertaining to see the old gimmicks TLC 2: ****1/4 Vince vs. Shane: ***1/4 Angle vs. Benoit: **** Chyna vs. Ivory: DUD Eddie vs. Test: *** Jericho vs. Regal: **1/2 6-Man Tag: * Kane vs. Raven vs. Big Show: *** Not sure if I'm forgetting anything. algrim 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 It would probably have to be between x7 and xx. I'd probably pick x7 too.

Guest Loss Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I don't understand the love for III. Great atmosphere, yeah, but one good match and a bunch of filler.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 XX only had, really, one great match, one good one (I was disappointed with Eddie-Angle) and a bunch of mediocre-poor matches. VIII should be up there: Bret-Piper, Savage-Flair, Warrior's surprise return (no one saw that coming) X of course had the ladder match and Bret-Owen, so that should get some recognition. MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I don't understand the love for III. Great atmosphere, yeah, but one good match and a bunch of filler. Not sure if you were, but you had to be around at the time. Nothing I thought was bigger than Hogan/Andre. Steamboat coming back to get revenge on Savage for almost killing him, (I remember being scared to death when I saw Steamboat getting axe handle on the guardrail to his neck) was crazy. Roddy Piper's last match, what I thought at the time, and a bunch of feuds that were finishing that were all hot at the time. And there was more than one good match. There were a few ** - ***, solid - decent affairs with CRAZY heat and the biggest match ever to me, at that time. And workrateisn't the end all be all to me to having a great show. You have to have a lot of heat and great storylines. That's why Survivor Series 1998 is one of my favorite PPVs.
Guest Loss Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Then, at best, Wrestlemania was a three-match show, even with all the storylines. Piper/Adonis, Savage/Steamboat and Hogan/Andre. Still tons of filler. I was around at the time.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 What about the Bulldogs/Santana v. Hart Foundation/Davis match? Lots of backstory and it's such a fun match
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 XX is right up there for me cause I was there live. Eddy v. Angle was an incredible amazing match, Jericho v. Christian was tons of fun, Taker v. Kane was worth it just to hear his pop and I love seeing The Rock wrestle. And the three-way was the greatest match I've ever seen live
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 XX had to be one of the most boring shows I've ever seen in my life. Maybe it was because I was in a cramped three-room apartment with a bunch of friends, but by time the big matches began to roll around, I couldn't wait to go home. My personal favorites include IV, VI, VII and VIII. Only two of those are considered to be good shows, but for various reasons, I really like them all. III's good, but there is a lot of filler there and it probably wouldn't be remembered as such a great show were it not for them being in the Silverdome. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I was there live and Rock and Sock losing took me out of the show and I didn't get back into it until we heckled Brock and Goldberg. The tag title and chick match took me out again but once Eddy and Angle got going again I got back in it. I was going crazy during the triple threat. I couldn't talk for 3 days because I blew my voice out. We were shaking during the last two minutes. That to me is what WM is all about
Jericho2000Mark 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 For me, WrestleMania XX was a one match show. Up until Benoit won the Title, the show was dissapointing. Especially the Brock-Goldberg non-match, the aborted return of Taker's old gimmick and a heatless Randy Orton beating Foley in his big comeback match. Eddie-Angle was good, but I think everyone expected a better match.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Wrestlemania XX is Emeka Okafor. Very disappointing. Of course I'm sure a majority of you loved it because it had solid matches but there wasn't good buildup for most of them.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Dragging the show on 5 hours with about 5 meaningless matches didn't help. The show would've been much better with 9 matches in 3.5-4 hours. Considering the Cruiserweight Title Match got the SHAFT in a 5 hour PPV shows how fucking crappy the booking was. 5 hour show means 20 minuts per match, not 20 minutes for 3 matches. Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I have the Wrestlemania XX DVD because I collect all the big 5 PPV shows but I have yet to watch it other than the Goldberg-Lesnar match and the triple threat match only because it is considered by a lot of people as a classic. Shows my interest right there.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Here's a fun game for everyone...run down the entire WM XX card without looking it up. I start struggling after the big 5 (and CW) matches.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I will try: Cruiserweight battle royal, Angle vs Eddy, Rock and Sock vs Evolution sans HHH, triple threat title match, Goldberg vs Lesnar

Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Triple Threat Main Eddy Vs Angle evo vs rock n sock 'Taker Vs Kane Goldberg Vs Lesnar Cruiserweight Invitational Jericho/Christian Dudleys/RVD and Booker T/Jindrak and Cade/Le Rez WGTT/Rikishi and S2H/APA/Bashams Cena/TBS Molly/Victora Title Vs Hair Match That's Honestly off the top of my head. It was a big enough show for me to remember the card. The real bitch is remembering WMX8 beyond the two main events. X8 is easily the most apathetic ppv ever save for 25 minutes of pure awesome with the Epic Hogan/Rock showdown. I remember only 5 matches off that card Hogan/Rock; Jericho/HHH, RVD/Regal, Taker/Flair and Kane/Angle. The rest of the card isn't coming to my head. WrestleMania X7 was easily the greatest Mania of all time. It's not even a arguement. WMX? TWO match show (granted, two incredible matches but 2 match show nontheless). WMX7 was pure quality from top to bottom(save for the short six man and woman's matches). WMVII would have a legendary PPV if they shaved down the card to about 8 matches, it was crammed with unneccesary filler. What was the Hammer/Earthquake match for? If It had just been the *** Slughter/Hogan showdown, the ****1/4 Savage/Warrior classic, Harts/Nasties in the underlooked *** match, Rockers/Haku and Barbarian in a fantastic tag match, 'Taker squashing Snuka, the big Virgil/Dibiase blowoff and just one of the "filler matches"; it would have held up better. People think of this as poor because of how crammed the card was and the shitty main event angle. No PPV is as over-rated as WM6. The only good match on that show hardly holds up anymore. Beyond the main event, only Dibiase/Roberts dare to come close to ***. Rockers/Orients should have kicked 10 kinds off ass but Shawn and Marty got baked before then match so noticably even Monsoon had to point it out.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 WM10 at the top for me.. Bret/Owen is my favorite match ever. And the Ladder Match is always fun to watch, especially in contrast to today's matches. Bret winning the title still gives me chills, even if it was a dumb luck win. I'd put WM17 second. Save the TLC match and the Rock/Austin awesomeness, the rest of the card did nothing for me. I was pissed the Rock jobbed in the WM main event... for the third straight year in a row. MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 WM X had Two ***** matches, Bret winning the world title and the return of my all-time favorite wrestler Mr. Perfect so it's number one. I rarely mark out as much as I did when they announced him as the referee. then X-VII for all the great matches Then I'm not sure. Depending on when you ask it could be from VIII to III to VI to XIV
strummer 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 Then, at best, Wrestlemania was a three-match show, even with all the storylines. Piper/Adonis, Savage/Steamboat and Hogan/Andre. Still tons of filler. I was around at the time. The only matches with no build were the Midget match, Sheik/Volkoff v Bees Orton/Muracco v Santana/Zenk and Butch Reed/Koko B Ware. WM 5 and WM 6 are all basically filler except the main events And I also believe this is a time where George Scott was still booking for the WWF and he was a firm believer that the main event is all that matters and you fill in the undercard
IWD 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 I'd vote X7 the best, followed by X. By the way, to me HHH vs Undertaker was far below ***. Cheers.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 I can't believe I didn't mention WMX. Probably my favourite. I haven't really watched wrestling since ECW went under, so I wasn't all that in to the story aspect of WMXX. Which takes out about 5 matches. I could appreciate the fun factor of the handicap match between Evolution and Rock and Sock. I could appreciate the hype between Lesnar and Goldberg. Even not following the story, I knew how big the 3 way dance for the title was. And yes, I got really into the main event, especially when Benoit locked on the Crossface. But the wrestling was boring in most cases. 1) WM X 2) WM XIV 3) WM III
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 WM 5 and WM 6 are all basically filler except the main events At V, Andre/Roberts, Rude/Warrior, Taylor/Heenan, Harts/Honky&Valentine, Haku/Herc & Demos/Powers all had build to them. At VI, Demos/Colosssal Connection, Savage&Sherri/Rhodes&Sapphire, Piper/Bad News, Dibiase/Roberts & Akeem/Bossman were built up beforehand.
Guest Ray Report post Posted December 2, 2004 10 had two legitimately great matches (both are top 10 WWF matches of the 90's) and a very underrated Bret/Yoko match. 17 had one great match (Austin/Rock) and a lot of overrated matches.
