Dont know if anyone psted this, but SurvSer did about 330,000 buys. Basically close to the same number as initial reports for last years show.

It's more than I was expecting. After the terrible buys that No Mercy and Taboo Tuesday got, I was expecting it to do 220,000.

It surprises me that it's so high. I guess the stips for SurSer on RAW worked. They didn't seem all that Draconian, but perhaps some thought they were.

This sounds like more of the "fuzzy math" the WWF used for one of the last couple of Wrestlemania's. I don't see how they could've got that kind of a buyrate when they couldn't even get people in the arena.

I'll wait for a Meltzer confirmation, but 330,000 for a Big 4 that's non-WM is pretty good numbers. WWE only brags about good numbers, so if the show did 230-240,000 buys, they'll pretend it never happend.

Acually if you look at the buy rates for the joint ppv's this year they have all done well, and in the case of wrestlemania very well (if you acually think of the currunt state of the WWE 800,000 buys is amazing). I think this shows people are still prepared to pay for joint PPV's and are becoming less and less bothered about single brand ones as buy rates show.

 

I would like to see 8-10 PPV's per year all joint

With joint PPV's though, the shows will screw over many mid-carders and below, since there could be 3 possible "Main Event" matches for each brand, and PPV's generally consist of 8 matches.

 

With split shows, guys like London, Kidman, Nunzio, and pretty much any Cruiserweight on Smackdown can get PPV matches, as well as people like Tajiri, Rhyno, and the Hurri-SHITs.

I agree. I think the the only positive thing the split has done is confine main event egos to one show.

Didn't Backlash get a really good buyrate this year too? I heard something that it actually did 500,000 buys, but I can't remember if that rumor was squashed or not.

The initial reports had Backlash getting 600,000 buys. However, it soon turned out that Backlash got around just under half that, and I believe that latest information had it at around 260,000 buys.

WWE can't mislabel the number of buys and never did so for Backlash.

In fact, I don't know who floated the false number out there, but Meltzer struck it down quickly.

No, but that didn't stop some internal gloating over the number before it was revealed as untrue.

Melzer would likely get it from the same place. It just takes a while for him to print it int he Observer and they get it distriubted to the public.

 

Generally the numbers are available with a week or two of the PPV.

 

I dont think the WWE, which is a publically traded company would blatantly like on their website. The only hard part is that they use really crappy graphs, so its hard to determine a precise number based on the graph.
