Do not deny the greatness of Christmas Vacation.

Good times!

While I'm all for It's a Wonderful Life, and watch both movies every year. I still gotta put Christmas Vacation as my favorite.

In a change of Holiday tradition (which started in 2000 when I saw the movie for the first time, believe it or not), I saw the movie on CBC (Sunday) instead of CityTV this year.

"Jolliest bunch of assholes" is a great line.

A Christmas Story is a nice movie but for some reason it's never been high on my list of stuff to watch in Dec. Maybe I first saw it when I was too old? I dunno. It's a bit too droll for its own good and really is more significant for someone who grew up in that time period. Personally I could give a shit less about a BB Gun.

Christmas Vacation is great, I can practically quote the whole movie. That said I'm probably one of the few who thinks Eddie weakens the film once he gets into it (not much just a tad).

I love vacation. Im not a big fan of xmas story but enjoy some parts of it (my fav is when the dad gets the leg shaped lamp box and says "Look its Italian Fra-gile")

vacation is a must see at xmas time speaking of which I think ill go pick up the dvd since I need a copy and they never show it on hbo anymore.

actually I personally like Vegas Vaction the best but thats neither here nor there

and dont forgot Emmet Otters Jugband Xmas that rules all

I must be one of the few who think that the Vacation series, outside of the original, is vastly overrated. I love Chevy Chase, but aside from the first, they're all pretty crappy. I know Christmas Vacation isn't a classic in the traditional movie sense to those who view it that way, but when I saw it a few years back, I thought it was a marginally funny movie, but nothing to hit my knees and bow down to.

I love A Christmas Story, but I've always been a fan of A Christmas Carol story. A lot of the adaptations aren't that great, but the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim is not only one of my favorite Christmas movies ever, but one of my favorite movies. Period. Anyway, I'm done placing myself in the minute minority.

This is the first known instance of any group of people, outside of perhaps studio executives, having admitted to seeing "Christmas Vacation" more than once.

P.S. I saw both Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story AT THE THEATER.

Yup.

Scrooged is a personal fav of mine but thats a comedy so.

A Christmas Story is definitely my favorite for the holidays, but Christmas Vacation is definitely right behind it, although, I don't believe I've seen it for a few years.

Anyone else like Jingle All the Way? Sure, it's by no means a classic or anything, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless. I watched a few weeks ago, and while not as good as I remembered, it was watchable.

Jingle is fine.  Phil Hartman steals the show as usual  and of course the big show as a giant santa

Hartman was the best thing about that movie.

I remember getting Jingle All the Way on video a couple years ago for our family gift exchange on Christmas Eve. I had never seen it, nor did I have any desire to do so, which left me puzzled as to why I got it as a gift. I just assumed it was another addition to the terrible gifts I had grown accustomed to getting in the exchange each year.

Only later did I find out why I got it. My mom usually does the shopping for a good chunk of the people and they just pay her later. She's notorious for mixing my brother and me up (i.e. accidently calling us the other one's name), so of course, she got me the video even though it was actually my brother who asked for it for Christmas. Bastard.
