Guest Cerebus Report post Posted December 10, 2004 It seems that unless the Jets choke big time, they will take one wild card spot. With so many other second teir teams with similar records this could really go anyway. So who will get screwed out of a deserving spot?
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Despite incorrectly spelling Cincinnati, I think they can honestly go 3 out of 4 over Bills, Giants and Eagles. I don't know if they are screwed. I think the entire afc gets screwed when the NFC has a 7-9 or pair of 8-8 teams in there.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Despite incorrectly spelling Cincinnati So I did. It wasn't personal, in fact I actually voted for Cincy.
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Denver. I believe that the Chargers are going to take the division, then let Denver go into the dogfight and then miss out with a...10-5-1 record, because them tying just feels right for me. I would consider them being the best candidate for getting screwed, because they've been somewhat legitimate the entire year, while the Bills, Texans, and Cincinati got off to mediocre starts and what not. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Buffalo. They have been coming on strong since the loss to New England, while the Broncos & Ravens have been struggling. One of the Ravens/Broncos will get in.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Technically, none of them. If they really deserved a playoff spot, they wouldn't miss out on them. I still voted Denver, because that's the top squad out of all those three, the most well-rounded certainly. Top 5 offense with a Top 5 defense. They've been victims of some bad bounces not going their way, and they haven't gotten it done many times when they should have (Last game against the Chargers, getting spanked by Cincinatti on MNF immediately spring to mind). So they'll probably run into some more bad luck and just barely miss out on the playoffs, which may or may not lead to Shanahan's dismissal. They'd be nuts to do that, but then again San Fran for some odd alien reason let go of Steve Mariucci.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 The Ravens. But it's their own fault for choking against the Bengals like they did.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Technically, none of them. If they really deserved a playoff spot, they wouldn't miss out on them. Exactly. I mean they have 2 Wild Card spots. Its not like baseball where Oakland lost their chance at the playoffs in the final week. I mean the Jets are going to take a Wild Card spot and then there are a bunch of teams that don't look as though they are ready to make the playoffs this season or some that just stopped playing(I'm looking at you Denver). People say how bad the NFC is this season but the AFC has 2 of the 3 worst teams in the Wins category and alot more teams with 4 or less wins as well. The NFC is mediocre across the board with the Eagles standing out. In the AFC you're either good or you flat out suck.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Oops, meant to hit "edit," not "add reply." Oh well. Baltimore -- They'll probably get in Cinicinnati -- They had a slow start. Boo-hoo Jacksonville -- They've been losing as of late. Too bad. Denver -- They always seem to run out of steam late in the season. Not my problem. Buffalo -- They lost a bunch of games early. My heart bleeds. Houston -- They'll bust a nut if they go 8-8. None -- ding ding ding...
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I voted 'none' because none of these teams really stand out as playoff-calibre teams. Some are good (Ravens, Broncos) and some will be good next year (Buffalo, Jax) but none are really playoff-calibre teams right here and now.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I personally think Houston will be an extremely tough team next season. Their defense is already solid, but they can be better, and with the Carr/Davis/Johnson trio on offense, the AFC South's going to be tough. Jacksonville will probably play tough because they'd love to be the first SB team in their own home stadium. But I just don't see enough production from their offense to do so.. They were coming together for a bit, then Leftwich got injured so they basically have to start over.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 it doesn't matter anyway, either Pitt or NE are going to the Superbowl...these teams are just fodder for the Colts...
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I voted for Buffalo because they've lost to two of those teams early on, thereby screwing them over in terms of head to head tie breakers, yet are probably playing better football then any of them right now, unless they win out, they will probably not get in.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Buffalo's only problem is they play a motivated Cincy team and the last game will be against Pitt who very well may be motivated if they and NE have the same record going into the final game...
MARTYEWR 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 The Cincy game is the X factor. They've got games versus Cleveland and San Fran, which should be both shoo-ins. Pittsburgh may be a win, just because January in Buffalo is fun for visiting teams (not really), but the road game against Cincinnati may be the toughest of them all, oddly enough. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I picked Cincy, and that is mainly because I think the Jags are going to get in anyway. Cincy has come a long way and it's a shame they will miss the playoff's this year........but as Palmer improves....so will they. The Steelers still own their ass regardless........ Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 By asking "who's gonna get screwed" it seems like you're implying one team less deserving than another team is going to get in. But but but.....this is the NFL. We play the games on the field. I don't think anyone is going to get "screwed" because they've all played the season and the ones that deserve it will go. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 The only way some team gets screwed is if the tiebreaker goes all the way to a coin toss (after all the other tiebreaking options are exausted), which wont happen. But if a team lost the coin toss and didn't make the playoffs because of it, I would count that as being screwed...by chance. As MUCH as I want to say the Ravens are going to get the last playoff spot...they HAVE to beat either Indy or Pittsburgh and win the other 2 games (Giants/Dolphins). Anything less than 10-6 wont get them in and even then it might be a tossup with Denver.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 I put down the Ravens. Most of these teams aren't really good enough record wise to think they'd be a legit playoff team anyway. Ravens might have killed their chances vs. Cincy though. Ravens screwed the Ravens!
