Recommended Posts

Since I can't accurately judge the 80's (only seen a handful of tapes/shows), I'll just say it was Heenan and not do the rest.

90's-

1) Chris Jericho

2) The Rock

3) La Parka

4) Dusty Rhodes

5- tie) Owen Hart/Chavo Guerrero

Honorable mentions to Eddie Guerrero, Joey Styles and Bobby Heenan.

2000's-

1) Steve Austin

2) The Rock

3) Kurt Angle

4) Rob Van Dam

5) Goldust

Honorable mentions to Vince McMahon, Ric Flair and Joey Styles.

2000s

1. Kurt Angle. He's played the dorky (but hilarious) heel character so consistently well I find it hard to seperate the 'real' Angle from the character. In particular: circa 2001, and his stuff with Austin.

2. Eddie Guerrero. In particular: the original Lie, Cheat & Steal vignettes from early 2003.

3. Austin. In particular: the first few weeks of the whole What? gimmick

4. Goldust

5. Gene Snitsky. Unlike my other four choices, this isn't based on personality per se, but his gimmick. Mainly because Snitsky's showdown with Heidenreich had me laughing harder than anything else in wrestling this year. It's just so ridiculous....it's irresistable.

(In no order)

1980s

- Capt Lou Albano

- Rowdy Roddy Piper

- Lucious Johnny Valiant

- Bobby Heenan

- Iron Sheik

1990s

- Bobby Heenan

- Chris Jericho

- Owen Hart

- Evil Doink

- IRS --- For as goofy as this character could have been, Rotundo did an awesome job of attempting to make it feel somewhat legit while still keeping it entertaining/light-hearted enough for it to work (Quit crying and start PAYING!).

2000s

- Ric Flair

- Kurt Angle

- Vince McMahon

- Heel Rock

- Norman Smiley/Glacier tandem

1. Colt Cabana

Solely because of Good Times, Great Memories. "You know, Becky, really smart girls know this secret way to touch their elbows behind their back."

2. Al Snow

Due to his European Title reign.

3. The Rock (Heel)

His last feud with Austin was only good, in my opinion, because of Rocky.

4. Ricky Reyes

Check Joe's latest diary entry for why. "Fuck Diet Sprite!"

5. (tie) Excalibur and Disco Machine

Proving time and time again why you should go out of your way to wait for the DVD versions of PWG Shows.

"Dey's a lady! Dey's a lady in the men's bathroom!"

Enough said.

Big Show also deserves a mention - the first appearance of the Showster may be the single funniest moment in wrestling history.

And Bossman was brilliant during his feud with Show. He really believed in his character, making it all the more hilarious. He will be missed. :(

Kurt Angle...

Watch his Weird Al interview featuring the Rock at No Mercy 2000.

Classic.

Yeah, that was amazing.

*Fly buzzes in front of Rock, who brushes it away*

KURT: Well, we know what flies are attracted to.

No one mentioned BUGSY MCGRAW???

I thought Dusty Rhodes was funny back in the day as well.

And Lawler as a heel in the mid 80's.

This isn't going to be too popular... but

Eugene... I'm sorry but this guy made me cry I was laughing so hard at points during his time around. I'll give it a shot though... I'm going to pick 4 wrestlers/announcers and a tag team for each era

80s.. (wasn't born till the late 80's so I dont exactly remember it all..)

Bobby Hennan

Ted Dibiase

Rick Martel

Roddy Piper

The Midnight Rockers (they had some funny lines)

90s

Evil Doink

Bobby Hennan

Chris Jericho

Owen Hart

The Million Dollar Team (IRS and Dibiase)

00's

The Rock

The Hurricane

Eugene

Christian

Charlie Haas & Rico

JBL

Kurt Angle

I had to add in Kurt Angle and JBL.. they have been so funny... i just agree with World Champions shouldnt revolve around comedy all the time and they did for the most part during those funny eras for them... but they are still hilarious.

Yeah, it does!

"For the benifit of those with flash photography" and the subsequent 5 second pose always cracked me up.

2000 was such an awesome year for WWF. Business was huge, they had great matches, and tons of comedy that was actually funny. Foley/Angle/Christian/Edge (in that order) were hilarious in their skits together.
