Jack_Bauer 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Rock legends QUEEN are to reform for a tour next year - with Seventies rocker PAUL RODGERS replacing deceased legend FREDDIE MERCURY on vocals. Queen guitarist Brian May confirmed the news in a posting on his official website brianmay.com. A UK tour will definitely go ahead, with the possibility of a European leg and a world tour under discussion. The tour will feature material by both Queen and Rodgers, one-time vocalist with both Free and Bad Company. The statement on May's website reads: "It really all came about because of the Fender 50th Anniversary gig that I did with Paul Rodgers. We were both so amazed at the chemistry that was going on in 'All Right Now', that suddenly it seems blindingly obvious that there was something happening here." While Queen's drummer Roger Taylor is definitely taking part, there is no news on whether bass player John Deacon will get involved. Queen stopped touring in 1986, after frontman Mercury fell ill. He died of an AIDS-related illness in 1991. Credit : nme.com

Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 But they don't need the money, they have already made craploads of money from queen. My guess is boredem combined with the fact that they can't think of anything original.
Jack_Bauer 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I'm gonna go and see them. Do I think this will ever be a touch on Queen of the 70s ? Get real. I do think it will be an entertaining night though. It'll also be good to see all of my favourite Queen songs live.
River City Rocker 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 The more time goes on, the more I respect John Deacon. Start a new group, but don't fucking call it Queen. Agreed. The idea of Rodgers fronting at least two of the surviving members of Queen is intriguing, though. Just think of a new name for the band, it's not that hard to do. Why stop there? What about putting the two surviving members of the Who in a supergroup with the two remaining Beatles? As long as classic bands are joining forces, let's go wild with it. -Ben
