WWE 27/4 Video On Demand Service

Recommended Posts

The Dish Network will have the WWE 27/4 Video On Demand service from January. Also, Cox have been telling customers they hope to have the service by March. What has you're cable company been telling you?

The WWE have my money on this... :headbang:

NICE - I was just looking into getting the Dish Network just today since I'm moving into a new apt Jan 1. PERFECT

*spazzes out*

For what its worth, my cable company basically told me it was a far chance from it happening since they dont even have the bandwidth in their structure to hold anymore channels (HD or standard). VOD services were going to be something that was at least 2 years away if not longer.

The thing that sucks in reading the Dish pamphlets is (I believe) you HAVE to get their DVR box, which is something like $500 just to get VOD services. So I dunno, it still sucks.

By the way, where did you hear that Dish Network will have this come Jan?

Any new customer can get thier DVR receiver free, more than one if you need it. They run promotions all the time. I should be eligible for a free or at least discounted upgrade come January or February, so this is music to my ears. I was gonna jump to DirecTV once my commitment was up, seeing as Dish has had some major quality control issues with HDTV programming the last few months, and I was wanting to take advantage of my HDTV once the new year rang in. However, any money I would have spent on HD programming now goes to this, so I'll stick with Dish.

Directv is supposedly making their own DVR available next year that would allow for on demand service so Im hopeful that actually makes it out. Currently the tivo based DVRs can't be used for OD programming. But, the bad news is that the new DVR box won't be a TIVO based box like other Directv DVRs out now. So its sort of a toss up..

It's completely worth it. I've had a Dish DVR for about 4 years and it was definately worth the money. Though I think the cheaper DVR might be $300 now.

Yeah I just called them last night and they confirmed it was "on the way" but didnt specify to me when exactly, but they said in most cases the services pop up out of nowhere without a real "official" target date, so Jan is very possible for it to start.

Like someone also mentioned, if you sign up to Dish Network they basically give you a free DVR reciever if you wish (I think its only like $4 a month then for the service) so its actually a great deal. They dont give you a free HD DVR reciever, which is what I originally wanted, but at least I can get a regular DVR for the other TV.

Why doesn't Comcast have this? We have all the other On Demand services, and when I emailed about this a few weeks ago I got a stock response about how they don't offer it and thank you for my suggestion or something...

Dish CEO Charlie Egren(sic?) said in his "Charlie Chat" this week that. they were hoping to have VOD services around Spring for customers with DVR receivers.

DAMN I really want this. I of course called my cable company (Adelphia) and they said that they have gotten 1,000's of calls for this.........yet they still aren't offering it.

Since satellite doesn't have anything like VOD (can't really, technology doesn't allow for it), the Dish Network announcement could only mean they're launching a linear (i.e. traditional cable network) channel. Whoo, looks like all my begging and pleading WORKED, damnit!

Me? I doubt I'll see it. Our area only got VOD this week.

Damnitt Time Warner Cable in Southwest Ohio- GET OFF YER ASS AND PUT THIS ON MY DIGITAL CABLE, I DON'T NEED SPEED CHANNEL ON DEMAND I NEED THIS!!!!

Is it true that Digital cable in the Philadelphia area has this channel, cause my mother lives outside of Philly, till I get the channel I could get her to subscribe and hopefully get the stuff taped for me.

Philadelphia is home to all of Comcast's top executives. Thus, the cable system is like a TV God and any channel they want (which is everything) is carried.

I wouldn't be suprised if this channel was running there.

Umm, yeah they do (it's in all of their signup brochures) and from what I understand it's already being used (its called something like Interactive TV).

It was also reported in this week's Observer as well that WWE 24/7 will start with Dish Network already next month.
