Just becasue we can do something, doesn't always mean we should. Had we not the technology we do today, this girl would have died. But with technology at its current level today, we can't exactly fix her and make her normal, can we? So it's a bloody hard situation. Do we cut the losses of what is likely to be a very difficult life, or do we try to help the girl make the best of it? Thing is, i myself wouldn't be alive if it weren't for (far lesser) efforts of the same kind. I was born two weeks premature and i was massively underweight. Without medical help (an incubator), i would have had a pretty small chance of surviving. Mind you, with respect to the parents, i can understand why another little girl said the baby looked disgusting. Becasue, unfortunately, she's right.
