Why is it that every thread around here ends up with Damu defending his fandom?

Because people like to troll me and flamebait me b/c they can't accept the fact that I like certain teams.

Who is going to catch the ball for Philly?

The Wide Receivers on the Eagles have 15 touchdowns.

TO had 14 of those 15.

That's the playcalling. As noted during most of the times, many of the times you saw T.O. open in the endzone, you would also see Freddie Mitchell. And Freddie is definitlely known for making big time plays (4th and 26). Now, Freddie has had some fun flapping his gums this year about not getting the ball and shit, well now he can really step it up.

Especially since it is now up in the air as to whether Pinkston will play Monday against the Rams, the Eagles will be fielding two starting wideouts. Their names? Freddie Mitchell and Greg Lewis. Things are going to get interesting around here. This is the time for guys to step it the fuck up.

This is the problem Philly has encountered over the last few years. No big play receivers. I'm not an Owens fan, but the man is a bonafide star. Without him, the Eagles will lose to a Carolina or Atlanta in the playoffs.

The Eagles still make the Super Bowl even without TO. No NFC team in the playoffs has a better D than the Eagles, and even without TO the offense is much improved over this time last year.

The only way the Eagles don't make it is if McNabb or Westbrook go down.

Never underestimate the mental angle in all of this. As in the Eagles have to be feeling they are cursed right now to some degree. "We lost 3 straight NFC title games. We finally got our big play WR! Now he's hurt for the rest of the year. WHY GOD WHY???"

Even when the Eagles were racking up all sorts of wins I had a wait and see position on them. As in I'll believe it when I see them in the SB. One thing no one has taken into consideration is that the Eagles haven't been playing that well lately, with or without T.O. They were fortunate that Patrick Ramsey is a moron, and they needed a late drive against the Cowboys to win.

NFL.com is reporting his injury to be torn ankle ligament rather than a spiral fractured fibula. Nonetheless, that's a whore of an injury. Despite that, I just don't know who in the NFC is going to take their SuperBowl place off them.

Also, for those wondering....I'm from Pittsburgh, and I have a legal right to hate Philly.

HAHA WE BEAT YOU BITCHES ALREADY.....EVEN WITH TO....

I don't think the Owens injury changes the NFC picture much at all, to be honest. The Eagles are undefeated against the NFC, at 11-0. Their point differential is +167. The next best is Green Bay at a paltry +24. The Eagles still have the lowest points allowed of any team in the NFL, and losing Owens does nothing to change that. I really think this team is so good, and the rest of the NFC so mediocre, that they should coast into the Super Bowel. Yes, facing New England or Pittsburgh might be a problem then, but no one really watches the Super Bowel for the football anyway.

I don't know if I could stand to watch an all-Pennsylania SB...

But, like I said in the other thread, those two teams don't exactly make the best use of their HFA in the postseason anyway

Well, it does something to change that, namely that Philly may find it harder to produce long drives on offense, forcing the defense to spend more time on the field.

They are already in the bottom third of the league for time of possession. They have scored a lot this season on big plays. If anything this is going to cut down on that and force more move the chains drives that will eat up clock.

I still feel that this year has some magic left. Still, the team needs the fans to be supportive. When the playoffs begin, the Linc had better be rocking. Bust out Eye of the Tiger and the Rocky theme, get TO on camera giving a pep talk, and give the team a chance to play. I will say this, I'm surprised no one in the media, or anywhere, has commented on how well TO is handling this situation. He's beginning to look like a real leader.

Screw Rocky. Go across the street and (since the Flyers aren't using it) steal the video of Kate Smith singing God Bless America. The players might be lost, but the fans would go in-freaking-sane.

Bust out Eye of the Tiger and the Rocky theme

Fuck all that, having Stallone even on camera in the Linc last year fucking jinxed us on MNF against the Bucs.

Avoid "Rocky" references at all costs.

I forgot about Mitchell....now maybe he can step up and prove himself.

And who knows Pinkston may actually learn how to catch a football! It'll be a miracle but he may learn!

Screamin A. Smith was on Sportscenter last night yelling "IT'S OVER!!! THEY'RE DONE!! NO CHANCE!!!"

Screamin A needs to remember that he pulled this shit before in 2002 during McNabb's broken ankle and he got proved wrong.

Yeah and they still lost in the NFC Championship that year too.

Which is seriously nothing to be ashamed of. Noone has been better in the NFL in the time that Andy Reid has been head coach of the Eagles. I believe New England or Pittsburgh mgiht be close if you count this season though.

Owens' injury makes this a very interesting weekend for University of Virginia alumni. Billy McMullen, who was 5-deep on the Eagles' receiver roster, is getting worked into the rotation, so he'll get his first significant playing time. He was wonderful in college, but like so many, hasn't gotten very far into his second year. Time to put up or shut up.

The other interesting bit is that Michael Vick's going to sit in the Falcons' game against the Saints this weekend. Since Atanta's locked into the #2 spot, they've got nothing to gain from putting him in, so Matt Schaub, UVA's big-name quarterback and a rookie this year, will get the start. Wahoowa, suckas. I don't think either of these guys will have big games, but it'll be fun to see them get a chance on the big stage.

Until TO was injured I was convinced that Andy Reid should sit all of his playmakers in the last two games so that they didn't get injured but now they have to get used to an offense without TO so they can't really do that.

Greg Lewis is going to be the interesting WR for the Eagles. He has shown flashes and has some really good hands from what I have seen. I would not be shocked to see him as the no. 2 from here on and Mitchell stay in the slot. Either way I throw to Lewis and McMullen all game for each of the next two games just to see what you have.

Isn't Philly the top team?

So no wonder "Rocky" bites the city in the backside, you aren't the underdog.

Play "I will break you" on a constant loop, that should do it.

I really don't see anyone else in the NFC standing up and taking the spot except maybe the Falcons. And god, I'd rather see the Eagles in the Super Bowl than a week full of ESPN hype for Vick.

And if the Colts make it with the Falcons...dear god.

Technically, T.O. being gone can affect the defense.

He makes plays. This leads to first downs. This lengthens drives. This allows the defense to rest.

Freddie Mitchell does not make big time plays. He made one that counted. That really counted. He has done NOTHING this year. It's time for him to. UI think he will do okay.

Pinkston has lost his heart. He needs to find Jim Morrison in a desert and have a discussion.

Greg Lewis was playing well until last Sunday. He needs to step up.

With all this, the Eagles can defeat any team in football, except Pittsburgh, possibly.

You will not see a team come back that quickly as the Dolphins did against the Patriots. In the final two quarters of the game, the Patriots were horrible. I'll admit, the Dolphins played one hell of a game last night. I will give them my props. I do not hope this happens again. This was a dismal performance from the Pats both on offense and defense. It was ultimately a bad game for Brady and the Pats. The Pats were defeated 29-28 by the Dolphins.

Tom Brady played absolutely horrible. He threw 3 touchdowns, but with 4 interceptions. I have not seem him play that badly since his first year which was 2001. He threw just 18 of 29 for 171 yards. Don't tell me that was good. He has had bad games like this before but this was a shocker most didn't see coming. I hope he doesn't have another breakdown like this. Hopefully, he will be ready for the Jets Sunday. That game he must win.

Corey Dillon, he was the only good player on the offense last night against Miami. He rushed 26 times for 126 yards. He scored one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. He was the best player in my mind last night. He never fumbled or screwed up like the rest of his team. He deserved to get Horse Player of the game but I guess he didn't. He will have a big game, in my mind, against the New York Jets.

The defense was, in my mind, possibly the worst I have seen them so far. They couldn't stop the Dolphins in the 3rd and 4th quarters. They didn't pick off anybody. Though they did sack AJ Feeley once. Not one single player on the defense can say they didn't try hard cause they did. They just didn't have the right stuff last night. Unless you count them against the Steelers. It just wasn't their game.

We have had many times in which we lost dreadfully. I just don't want something like last night's game to happen to my Patriots. I hope they beat the Jets. That will get them their groove back. I speak for many Pats who would say it was just a horrible game for us. I hope this doesn't happen in the next two games. So I say, good luck to them in their next two and the Playoffs.
