Eclipse 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Emo music is probably one of the most annoying genres of music right now. Seriously, emo bands are starting to sound the same, and sing about the same crap. The MOST ANNOYING EMO band RIGHT NOW has to be My Chemical Romance. What emo should start singing about to make it at least entertaining: Sing about the stress you go through and the all out anger shown when your mom gave you a spoon to eat spaghetti, and then you can detail how you tried to cut your veins with a butterknife.... NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Don't Emo dudes also let one side of their hair grow out a bit, and like shave the other side or cut it really short. This is usually the band members and not so much the fans....or am I thinking of another genre here?
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 I've seen fans do so (Ontario is probably Emo state/province of the world). The best is when there are a group of them standing infront of a small town store, and your car is blasting out some Meshuggah, the fun is just about to begin. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 EW, what ugly shoes that girl has. And socks too. Is dressing ugly now emo? The shirt is fine, and if the pants are rolled down, she might have something. Although I think that type of shirt would look better with cargos or any other looser pants. With the pants rolled up, she looks like a charity case who can't afford pants that fit. As much as I hate hipsters, I have to admit that I think that the emo look is hot ... on girls. Guys that dress emo deserve to be castrated. But, put an "emo outfit' on a hot girl, and count nl5 as interested.
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 My Chemical Romance are not emo.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Don't they feel goofy putting that stuff on and taking it off? It just looks awkward to have a T-shirt over a dress shirt. Anyways, The New Amsterdams are the only band I listen to that falls squarely in the Emo category. But I think they're really good, so I don't like to think about the Emo part. My new name for similar music is "pussy white boy shit."

Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Should I take pictures of some pages from that Suicide Girls book my female roomie gave me? You can see some naked emo girls.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Inc, if you could find a way to post the pictures, it'd be swank. I've been meaning to pick up the book for a while now, I actually waited for X-mas thinking I'd get it as a gift and didn't. Hey, I might be thinking of the wrong person, but you were once a member of the SG page, right? But you quit because you didn't dig the pictorials?
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 I was. I shared an account with three other people; I didn't like the site very much. Granted, most of the women on there aren't my type, but even if they were, many of the layouts were overly arty or just plain dumb (I recall one featuring a girl straddling an arcade machine). Very little of the site overall was erotic. I only got the book because the girl who gave it to me thought it would be funny.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 I bought the book, but lent to my then-girlfriend to read/check out on the train back to the city ... and then never saw it again. (technically, I only saw her once more, but that's a different story). I think I'd dig the site/book ... I have a big pierce/tatoo fetish, and as long as the pictorials aren't too arty I should have an Ok time with them.
Special K 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 I've been wearing the black rim glasses for a number of years (not very clunky, though, and small lenses) just because I thought it looked good. And haven't people been dressing in 'vintage' shirts and Chuck Taylor's for forever? I like Chuck Taylors. What would seem to really define the trend is the shitty sweaters/sweater patterns and weird layering.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 In all seriousness, how much of this hate is legit. That type of music and every band sucks. How much My Chemical Romance have you heard to know that you hate them and they're awful. They don't get airplay, so unless you go out of your way to listen to it (which I doubt) then it's blind hate. Feel free to hate Good Charlotte...they at least have enough material being played to justify an opinion.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 A lot of Christian bands are emo, I heard my share of it at the local Christian rock club, which was pretty cool because they had cheap snacks and free pool. Me and a friend almost got thrown out one time for gambling on pool games. Memories...

Turn to your local shitty rock station. 90% chances are "Im Not Okay" or the other new song is playing as we speak.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" may not even be one of the top 10 songs on the CD (there are 13 total). It doesn't really even fit in with the rest of the record and sounds like something that the record company suggested they add as an MTV/radio friendly first single. That kind of thing happens with many bands. What's the other song you're referring to?
Special K 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Well, much like the Blink argument earlier, I'm not going to spend hard-earned money if I don't hear a single song off an album I like on the radio. Hell, Nickelback could be GREAT (actually, no they couldn't) and I just despised their two singles. Of course, there are exceptions. I don't hate The Killers after seeing them in concert (part of a 6-band show) though I hate their big single. But I figure it's a band's responsibility to get me to like them. There are too many good bands out there, and CD's are fucking expensive nowadays.

Special K 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 For bands I haven't heard of? Yes. All my friends listen to rap, and while I like some rap, I have to use the radio to hear about new rock bands. It's a good thing Seattle has a couple good stations.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I remember My Chemical Romance being featured in an MTV segment called "You Hear it First", in which up and coming bands are featured. I decided to listen to some of the stuff they had, and I hated them WAY before they became such a "hit" on MTV and the radio.
Vigo 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 For bands I haven't heard of? Yes. All my friends listen to rap, and while I like some rap, I have to use the radio to hear about new rock bands. It's a good thing Seattle has a couple good stations. You need to sign up for Yahoo's Launchcast Radio. Create your own station with the genres you like. If you don't like a band that's played simply mark them as 'never play again' and you won't hear them again. I've discovered a lot of bands that I normally wouldn't have using Launchcast Radio. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 This isn't really a boast, but I've never listened to the radio. I actually get quite a few (good) recommendations from here, and the butthole surfers forum, and I got a half decent rock encyclopaedia a couple of birthdays ago which has served me well. And me and my friends seem to have 'specialised' whilst having pretty much the same tastes, so I always find new stuff.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I don't listen to the radio much at all, so I just this week heard My Chemical Romance for the first time (via TV commercial promoting their "I'm Not Okay" single). I like a small bit of what could be viewed as emo, but honestly do not like any of the aforemetioned bands such as Taking Back Sunday, or any of the "hip" emo bands. At least not yet...part of it is not hatred of them, but having not heard much, if any of them yet. I'd say the two most notable emo bands I listen to would be Juliana Theory and Matchbook Romance, the latter of whom I like quite a bit since having discovered them just a few months ago. Speaking of, I just noticed in passing that there's a tour coming to my area in a month or two that will feature The Juliana Theory and Zao on the same show. Now there's a combo. EricMM 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I'm proud (?) to say I've heard of none of these bands. Emo kids are common as all get out. Everyone seems to have a touch of emo clothing because a bit of it looks okay. But Thursday is just awful, awful music.
