DMann2003 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I just got my 26" Samsung Widescreen HDTV Moniter today at Sam's Club for 498.76, I also have an RCA 5.1 5 disc DVD/Home Audio Theater System and Time Warner Digital Cable. I was just wondering what everyone's Home set up is like, when I get pics developed I'll post a shot.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I'd imagine few on this board do, since the majority are still living with the 'rents or feeding their paychecks to other outlets. I'd like to have a snazzy one, but I'm content with a nice TV and DVD player for the time being. A HDTV would be just what the doctor ordered, though. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 We have a Sony TV one of those digital line comb filter ones. They are the model that was a big seller right before HD started getting more suburbian-friendly. It is only 27" but the picture is crisp, and I also hook in the satellite feed through a video input instead of the coaxial hookup so it makes the picture even better. Then we have an Onkyo 5.1 digital receiver which can decode DTS-ES and such. It sounds really nice, for what we need, it is pretty good for an entirely stock system. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I have a Samsung 30 inch Widescreen HD TV and an ILo DVD Recorder/80 GB Hard Drive. Eventually Im going to get the Directv HD reciever to go with it. I have no need for a 5.1 Surround system because the room the TV is in is too small as it is (although perfectly sized for a 30 inch Widescreen TV) and the TV has rather nice built in speakers. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I live in the dorm and we don't have TV. My computer monitor isn't mega awesome but it isn't small, either. Flatscreen Sony Trinitron. Colors are really nice and the picture is clear and crisp when I watch DVD's. For Christmas my parents found a good deal on a mid-low end 5.1 surround system, which I'm pretty thrilled with. It won't blast your face off, but it'll sound perfect in the confines of the dorm room with the speakers spread out well. Â I'm looking forward to ROTK:EE on it when I get back to school. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Right now I have some surround sound thingy and a 27-inch flat screen, but the first thing I'm going to do after the wedding is upgrade the TV. I can't decide between either a 27-35 inch Plasma or LCD set or just scrapping the current living room entertainment stand and getting something big... Don't waste your money on a plasma unless you have the additional money for an extended super duper warranty.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Yeah, that's what I've heard. In addition, I was told if I were to play video games to go for a LCD. I haven't really started any reseach on this subject so any feedback/info would be appreciated...

Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I have this midget named Earl that turns the TV on mute and just reads all of the subtitles over a mega phone as he runs around the room to give that "encompassing" effect. He is cool...he is kinda like that guy from Police Acadamy. You should here him make a explosion sound...you would think it was real. Besides all the bad guys sounding like Jack Nicholson for some reason, it is well worth the money.
