" Clarifying the Sandman to WWE's ECW Rumors

In a story that a few sites have picked up, it has been reported that the Sandman refused a booking with the WWE. The booking would be for WWE's ECW reborn show. There is absolutely NO truth to this rumor. How this rumor got started, no one knows, but after talking to one of Sandman's best friends, the DOI can report as of right now, the WWE and Sandman have had no contact whatsoever about a potential WWE booking.

For anyone looking to watch the Sandman live, the Sandman will be wrestling for Frank Goodman's UXW on 2/26 in Long Island, NY. As of right now (it could change) he is scheduled to wrestle Axl Rotten.

For more on that show, check out http://www.usaprowrestling.net "

So far as I can tell the following WWE people worked with ECW at one stage in their career. Years may be slightly inaccurate as they're just from the top of my head.

Ron Simmons (94-95)

Cheers.

As far as I know, Simmons hasnt been rehired.

As I understand it he's working in Public Relations. Don't have a source though.

Cheers.

Didnt know this. Thanks.

Just seen he's listed on the roster on this site, which as I understand it is regularly updated. Not sure on reliability though.

Doesn't Tazz's neck prevent him from wrestling? IIRC, he'll end up needing neck surgery at some point, so I can't see him going out and doing anything other than throwing a suplex or 2, much less wrestling a full, competitive match.

He injured his neck back in the day, but as far as I know that's not what's keeping him from wrestling. When he retired, he said it was just because he lost the passion or something along that line.

I'm sure Taz can still do a Suplex and slap a Tazmission on someone in a squash.

Taz has to be involved somehow besides commentary

Yes, I heard that to. Said that winning the Tag Titles with Spike at MSG should have been a big thing for him but it didnt feel that way.

I know he broke his neck in ECW, but I'm pretty sure his neck was again giving him problems towards the end of his in-ring career. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that he'll most likely need neck fusion surgery, and that he had even looked at possibly doing the "Kurt Angle Miracle Surgery". If that is the case, he won't be doing any wrestling, save for a quick squash.

Maybe somebody can confirm that?

There is no way they could run the PPV from the ECW Arena. Watch the ECW DVD, they said they were pumping so much power through it during Barely Legal that a transformer busted 10 seconds after the PPV went off the air. And if ECW was pumping that much power, image what WWE would throw out.

A good idea for Johnny Grunge would be to team him up with New Jack. That would be a pretty awesome ECW nostalgia dream team.

I think sticking to the ECW dvd is the best deal for everyone involved which includes fans, wrestlers, commentators, and Paul Heyman(who may not even have a say over his own damn creation). A wcw ppv might be more welcomed than this to all involved due to the fact that ecw was the renegade of the big two.
