Best PPV of 2004?

Recommended Posts

At the end of every year, I usually buy the best ppv the WWE has put on. For 2001 it was Wrestlemania, for 2002 it was Summerslam, and for 2003 it was Vengeance. This year, it seems like the two to choose from are Wrestlemania and Backlash. Which would you guys recommend?

Keep in mind that I already own the Chris Benoit DVD, so I have the WM main event.

WMXX without a doubt, but I would also recommend Royal Rumble 2004 (if only for the Rumble itself and maybe HHH vs HBK), No Way Out 2004, and Backlash 2004. I'd be too bad if you only get one.

The Royal Rumble was pretty good in 2004, also. If you can only buy one PPV on DVD, Wrestlemania XX is definitely the way to go. (I'd mention No Way Out, but the main event was included on the Eddie Guerrero DVD.)

No Way Out is basically a 1 match show, and like previously mentioned it's on another DVD (at least I hope, I'm just going on someone else's word).

Backlash is Wrestlemania Jr. Same main event, but not as good, horrible Edge vs. Kane match, and a bunch of filler undercard. Foley vs. Orton is entertaining, but seriously over-rated. It's a garbage brawl, nothing more.

I'd have to go along with Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, or Backlash. Probably Wrestlemania XX for the historical aspect of it all, despite most of the undercard being about as good as TV matches (especially the two dreadful four-way tag matches)

In my opinion, you should definitely avoid anything after No Way Out from the Smackdown side, as it's mostly dreck or one-match shows (I still maintain that JBL/Eddie Texas Bullrope is a good match from GAB, despite the rest of the show being shit)

Wrestlemania XX was the best, but I liked all the PPVs from last year except for NWO, GAB, Taboo, and Armageddon.

You liked Judgment Day? The only matches I could see liking from that show are possible RVD/Rey vs. Dudleyz and JBL vs. Bradshaw, but the latter just couldn't compare to their Texas Bullrope Match besides the disgusting bloodbath by Eddie. And that show had Jackie/Chavo, Cena/Dupree and Booker/Undertaker, just a few reasons to hate that show to the core.

PPVs I've enjoyed this year were Royal Rumble, No Way Out, Wrestlemania, Judgment Day, Backlash, Taboo Tuesday and No Mercy(probabally the best SD! PPV sence Vengeance). just my opinion.

Mania 20 cause it's the best DVD they've done for any event they've ever had. And for obvious reasons as well.

Rumble 2004 I want to get but I'm not hot on paying full price. I got Bad Blood 2004 cheap so I picked it up.

I wouldn't really suggest much other than Mania.

Oh, for those that have the Royal Rumble 2004 DVD...

Look in the left side of the screen when they show the chair that was set for Mick Foley. If you see a bald guy with a WrestleMania XX shirt on, that's me. ^^

Well; if we're going by BEST PPV(and not dvd release)...

Begrudingly I'll have to say WrestleMania XX.

Amazingly, Raw and Smackdown had some really strong TV Matches and yet most of the PPV's fell flat.

Best DVD would also go to Mania hands down for the content alone and for the standout nifty packaging.

Which makes me think we're overdue for a TV compilation DVD, ala 2001's Action!

Get No Way Out if you don't have the Eddy Guerrero DVD with the Lesnar match on it. Otherwise go with Wrestlemania XX, even if you do have the Triple Threat.

Royal Rumble, No Way Out, Wrestlemania, Backlash, Badd Blood, Vengeance & Summerslam are the only ones worth taking a look at.

They could throw the Best of RAW/Smackdown! 2004 shows on a DVD as the main feature then have bonus matches from RAW and Smackdown! Although I guess that the shows (RAW at least, Best of Smackdown! 2004 wasn't aired in the US cause we got Xmas in Iraq) actually featured a buncha PPV matches too. Ah well, still a best of the year DVD for each show would prolly sell pretty well, since there's been so many good free TV matches this year.

Silvervision have an offer on, with 2004 DVDs on offer. Wrestlemania 2004 is just £5.99 which is an awesome price. All other events are £5.99, except that NWO is just £3.99. Any way you cut it, if you don't have Eddie's DVD, Lesnar/Eddie is worth £3.99 to have in your collection.

I think that offer is for the VHS versions, if I read it correctly. The DVD's are still much higher. I don't know about the VHS shows in the UK, but all the WWE VHS releases over here are recorded in EP mode, which is the absolute crappiest video and sound quality available. Blecch.
