Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 I figured White Noise would make more than expected. Next week: 1. Coach Carter 2. Elektra 3. Meet The Fockers 4. The Aviator 5. White Noise
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 I'd argue with NBT over Coach Carter being #1 (since it's only opening on 2,000 screens) but I'm still stinging over the Raise Your Voice argument.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 I don't see Coach Carter doing extremely well, but it will get a solid 15 million. I think Electra will grab a cool 22 million. And the Fockers will remain #1 with about 23 million. White Noise should tumble to 10 million or less.
Guest TheLastBoyscout Report post Posted January 9, 2005 White Noise had a very strong opening for a horror film in the dead of winter.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 I'll keep my prediction, but even if it doesn't open up at #1, i'm sure word-of-mouth and strong reviews will keep it around.
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 I'd argue with NBT over Coach Carter being #1 (since it's only opening on 2,000 screens) but I'm still stinging over the Raise Your Voice argument. I haven't seen any advertisement for RYV.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Coach Carter? Weird. Where do you live? I've seen tons of ads for the movie, the advance reviews have been good, and the first single from the soundtrack has been getting decent airplay.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 9, 2005 1. Elektra 2. Meet The Fockers 3. The Aviator 4. White Noise 5. Coach Carter Coach Carter doesn't look half bad, but I don't think people will flock to see it until they hear more reviews.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 1. Elektra 2. Meet the Fockers 3. Coach Carter 4. White Noise 5. The Aviator I think Coach Carter will get at least 14 mil.

Tawren 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Coach Carter? WTF is that One of those "coach goes to down-on-their-luck inner city school with a bad basketball team, teaches them to unify and get better, but in the end he learns about himself by learning about them" deals. Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 I believe there's a bit more to it, but I guess you can sum it up that way.
Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 10, 2005 From what I've gathered, the story about Coach Carter is similar to Remember The Titans. Instead of trying to desegregate the football team, Coach Carter is about making sure the players are as good in the classrooms as they are on the courts. And the parents' reactions to the idea that the Coach's players should be smart as well as good basketball players. Something like that.

Mole 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 damn, maybe i should go see the fockers, must be pretty good to be no. 1 for 3 weeks Just because a movie does well, doesn't mean it is good. *cough*National Treasure*cough*
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 May I suggest not seeing any of the top 10 films, and instead checking out Hotel Rwanda?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Coach Carter is a touch different since he refused to let them play or practice till the entire team was passing and held them all accountable for the actions of one. It nearly got the coach beaten to death by insanely anger parents. It is based on a true story and will probably be much more accurate than some of the others. It COULD do good but I don't know. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 I sorta think that Coach Carter is a sports version of Lean on Me. The whole "lock the doors of the gym" thing echoes the part in that where Morgan Freeman locked the school doors to prevent people from leaving and/or getting in. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 I'm surprised Finding Neverland isn't doing that well. It's a very good movie and is a nice feel good movie that appeals to everyone. I think it will pick back up once the Oscar race kicks into overdrive. I saw Million Dollar Baby the weekend it came out- awesomeness
