Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted January 17, 2005 He's hated on this board because people around here think it's cool to hate on something that's popular. Everybody please remember that this is only his second full season in the NFL. If his decision making doesn't seem on par with the veterans just chill out. His team is a win away from the Superbowl you know. I don't know who's a better athlete. But I'm sure there is somebody in that entire league that can do something more amazingly athletic than Vick. Nobody has proven this yet. When there's a Falcon game on you know who the best athlete on the field is going to be.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 It took awhile for Tom Brady to get recognition too. Vick gets so much hype because he is the most exciting offensive player in the league, and because he wins. Look at how well the Falcons do without him. Very true, unless your stats are gaudy, it takes awhile to gain respect. The fact that the defense was as bad as it was without him and as good as it is and was with him for the seasons before and after, should show that he has that effect on both sides of the ball. He keeps his defense fresh I'd say, if only they had a better coach, then he could honestly develop his passing skills.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted January 17, 2005 There's no need to develop his passing skills right now. When you can have three hundred-yard rushers in the same game and go to the NFC championship, it doesn't look like much is wrong right now. The plays where he just hands the ball off are effective because teams don't want him to bootleg and run for 60 yards on them. He's a dangerous man.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 I don't get the Vick hate either. He's dynamite to watch even though he is not the classic pocket passer. As said in the broadcast, he is even more dangerous than the best running backs because the ball is in his hands every Falcon snap except special teams. He is a legit threat to get into the end zone every time the ball is snapped. That right there gets me amped to watch him play.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 I think Vick has the prettiest release and pass in football. The snap of the arm, and the quick release point are two wicked ass things to witness. I would still say he is overrated as a QB, but not as a playmaker. He is kind of like McNabb before this season. McNabb has made major strides this season to become an accurate passer, and to stop scrambling at the worst times. As far as next week's game of Atlanta/Philly. While Philly will be and should be favored. I think Atlanta's defense matches up well because their strength is the front seven which should be used to neutralize Brian Westbrook and make him pay a vicious price everytime he catches those short passes over the middle. Atlanta's secondary is the defense's weakness but come on even a weak secondary should be able to cover Mitchell and Pinkston one-on-one coverage, especially if Atlanta's front four can pressure McNabb. I think this will finally be the game that hurts Philly for TO being absent. Oh and on a sidenote. The Vikings D-coordinator should be fired at the least after his crap approach to covering the Philly WRs. Worst ever.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 Atlantas defense was ranked 14th overall, but they were incredible against the run(except for that one week against Kansas City) and give up alot of yardage in the air because they just go one on one and let the linebackers and d-line get off. That is going to cause problems for the Eagles. The question is how are the Eagles going to play against the Atlanta run offense. I think this will be a low scoring game, decided by who gives up more big plays. It will be a hell of a matchup.

The Vikings pretty much shut the Eagles out in the second half. The problem is Tice. They failed on two 4th down conversions and one was because of poor communication. The Vikings were in this game the whole way, they just didn't get the big plays they needed on offense. They were one of the worst ranked teams this year in rushing attempts. I don't know if they'll be able to stop the Falcons from running the ball by getting ahead and winding down the clock. It seems like ALL the Eagles do is throw the ball. I think the Eagles might be in for another disappointment this weekend.
