Oh,

The objective I have with this thread, besides posting pictures that I like but don't have a context to show them, is to get some discussion going on past events. So if you want to talk about the match in the photo, or the event the photo is in, or the fighters in general, go for it. Also, we can have a PICTURE BATTEL where you can challenge the pic with another one that is thematically similar (dropkicks, in this case).

Wes Sims' release pwerbomb on some kid at a small event was shown during his UFC 43 promo vid, but I haven't figured out who the victim was or where it took place.

It was damn beautiful, though.

On another note, those Rampage powerbomb pictures, though some of Rampage's most exciting moments, also point out a big flaw in his game: lack of submission avoidance.

Rampage doesn't even bother trying to get out of submissions, because he knows he's strong enough to power out of them. If Arona can't hold him down, who else in the LHW can? Of course, it's different when Saku chokes him out, but when he stays clear of positions where he can't really move. He sticks to slamming his way out of armbars and triangles.

I've heard that Alistair should face Rogerio at the next PRIDE. Could be a doozie, or a...snoozie.

The problem is, you can't always slam out of moves. Tim Sylvia figured "If I could slam out of Ricco's, then I should... "*pop!*

There's a number of cons with trying to slam your way out of a traingle, including the energy spent on the slam (added to the effects of the locked traingle) and the opponent taking adavantage of the basing out by either transitioning to a triangle armbar or hooking the opponent's leg and using it as leverage to gain top position. Also, Rampage has been caught in guillotines & kimura's as well, so it's not as though it's jsut armbar and/or triangle's that he doesn't avoid.

In regards to Arona: though big & strong, he's never been all that great at applying & finishing submissions (in spite of his blackbelt).

I think Rogerio vs. Overreem will be a snooze fest but I'm hoping Nogueira wins.

It's true, I mean Rampage, though he doesn't have the "Credentials" for it, has great sub defense. In my opinion, he's definitely the most improved fighter, ever. Think of a guy like him as he started in the big time, or minor leagues, like KOTC, and now, and the difference is phenomenol.

It's true though, slamming is actually detrimental to your chances, as shown by when Matt Hughes fought Dennis Hallman the second time. Rampage is just strong enough where he can lift them up and let them fall since they can't hold the armbar in mid-air. Or something like that, I don't really know.

Another rumoured match is Cro Cop-Coleman, just a rumour but it would have lots of hype.

That slam was disgusting. I thought Fedor had broken his neck, no questions asked.
