Before money was ever a factor in the equation…I think the first year I was in wrestling I actually lost money. It’s one of those deals where at the beginning of your career you’re a starving artist.

 

As compared to the majority of wrestlers, who never make a profit on their wrestling careers.

Nash was actually on the booking committee as early as September of 1998 and it was being reported as early as November that he took over for good when Hogan "retired", which was a work on the entire locker room. He did get the booking position for the fingerpoke angle, but he already had it before that. He had a website at the time where he was doing almost daily commentaries on how great it was to be booking and how he had so many wonderful ideas for Norman Smiley.

That's a lie. Nash became booker just before World War III of 1998.

But being seven feet tall and 300 pounds, the fact is you have influence in any room you walk into. Whoever is in control in that room, you walk right up to them and slap them in the head. Then you’re in charge. If you take 100 of my critics and give them my knees, I guarantee you they couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning. I was a basketball player in college and my career was over after a severe knee injury. They told me I would walk the rest of my life with a limp. I still have it a little, but I worked my ass off and did pretty damn good in wrestling despite it. I’ve even had major neck surgery and I still do what I do. Do they think I came back just for the money? C’mon – how much money does one person need? I’m back in it because I want to see TNA grow – period. Me and TNA are talking long term commitment now. Here’s something for those critics to think about: Maybe the reason I want the NWA World Heavyweight Title is I can help TNA go to the next level with exposure through movies, talk shows, etc. The critics can say whatever they want to about me, but the fact is I’m still able to do this thing better than most.
