Vern Gagne Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 The AP gets it wrong again. Startribune.com
jimmy no nose Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Even the way that I heard the story originally where Culpepper is made to look like a vilian I really didnt see a problem with what he did. He let the kid feel good about himself wearing the chains in front of all the people and then Daunte offered to send him some free stuff, which I haven't heard reports of any other players there doing. I'm sure Culpepper doesn't really care about the value of the chains so much as the personal meaning in them. The press wants everyone to look bad though so I'm not surprised.
Crimson Platypus Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 So is he supposed to give some strange kid a $100,000 necklace? How long do you think it would take for someone to steal a $100,000 necklace from a paralyzed kid? What a stupid non-story...
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I'm not surprised. Reporters are douchebags for the most part.
Precious Roy Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Whoever wrote the article should be docked pay and suspended. Irresponsable reporting is dangerous.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Wonder if it's the same guy that thought a crowd was booing when being told by W. that Bill Clinton was having heart surgery?...
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 The AP report was more entertaining though. I was laughing my ass of when I read the part about when his family started crying and talking about buying a safe for the jewelry.
Steve J. Rogers Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 The AP report was more entertaining though. I was laughing my ass of when I read the part about his family started and talking about buying a safe for the jewelry. And here is the real sad part, there are places who will only know the AP story, and not even know the Star-Trib's story Put it another way, the way the Star-Trib has it, its like loaning a World Series Championship ring, or Super Bowl Championship ring to someone so that person can feel for just a moment what "it feels like" Anyway here in NY two radio hosts, Wally Mathews and Tom Keegan, just read the AP report and thought Dante was being a complete Indian Giving jerk and wondering how a Moss signed jersey would be worth the same as a 75 thousand dollar piece of jewerly, not too mention what took so long for Dante to realize "Hey wait a minute!" So that means, as far as anyone listening to that segement here in New York, Dante Culpepper is a Class A Asshole and a prime example of "Whats wrong with today's modern athletes" Steve
2GOLD Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Aren't all athletes seen as Class A assholes to the city of New York anyway?
Slayer Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Aren't most New Yorkers seen as assholes by the rest of the US?
MillenniumMan831 Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Why's the kid asking for his jewlery anyway? Paralyzed or not, it ain't cool to put someone on the spot like that unless he had every intention of giving it back anyway.
Black Lushus Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 yeah, I caught a bit of this on Jim Rome yesterday...fuck that handicapped kid and fuck his parents for actually thinking Culpepper was giving away his bling...fuck the media for gettin the story twisted...
