MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 I was just shocked that a network owned by Rupert Murdoch aired a show like that. I felt it was a really overtly liberal program with the guerilla style of humor. Maybe they didnt preview the episode, saw it last night for the first time and were outraged so they cancel both AD and FG in a fit of rage. HA..that would piss a lot of people off. Mostly the FG fans..
Guest FileCabinet Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Not bad. They need to kill off that terrible goldfish character immediately. The alien was very hit-and-miss, but I think they should stick with his current voice. There was some funny stuff (the purse-stealing scene, the kid riding the mascot), and the show could be good. It is very similar to Family Guy with the exception of the alien and the fish. If anyone missed it, Adult Swim's going to reair it a couple of times next week. Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted February 7, 2005 I don't know how I feel about the show. It seemed too much like Family Guy which is fine, but it wasn't as good. I doubt it can ever come close to topping FG. It was at least better than yet another shit storm from the Simpsons.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 "Can I be excused....I'm having my steve?" that was pretty funny as well "Im going to skip 3rd steve, but I have to go to 5th steve" or somethin like that pretty funny. overall the show had its moments but Id like to see a couple of episodes before I make a judgment. However the dad being ultra-scared about terrorism is pretty funny in an ironic way "Its just gum dad"

Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Anyone know where I can find this up for download? As well as the Simpsons episode that aired last night? Saw the SB but didn't get a chance to see either
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Wow, seems like I'm the only one who liked the goldfish (I thought he was more amusing than the alien). I also liked the backstory to the goldfish and the flashback to the skier with the real goldfish's brain. He might of been, but it's more because the Alien was annoying has well. The shows improvement lies soley on McFarlane. If he's determined to make AD really different than Family guy. He cerainly can. If he doesn't care the show won't last. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Only thing I hate about American Dad (I didn't watch the episode last night so I can't comment) is that I fear this will suffer the quality behind Family Guy since McFarlane will be working on two projects at the same time. One of them has to go, and I don't see it being something that's already a proven hit, not to mention EVERYONE I know basically sees AD as a ripoff of Family Guy. Which is funny, because I initially saw Family Guy as a Simpsons ripoff until I realized the completely different styles of humor and naturally, the animation. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 8, 2005 I thought the mom distracting the sun by going off about her psychotic relationship with her school math teacher which lead to him killing himself in prison was pretty funny.

Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 ...yeah, I think I'll hate. Something just seemed off about it. Maybe it can find its feet, but last night was really weak. The stuff with the kid as class president really bothered me, just because it was so childish. A kid running a school belongs in a Saturday morning cartoon. I tried to like it, but Family Guy's overexposure really started to hurt it for me last year, and now Seth has entered the realm of "cult creator", which today either means completely underground or Hot Topic sale of the week. And everyone saying that the characters are too similar to Family Guy's is right, unfortunately. That's what made Futurama so good. The Simpsons was about today's family, and Futurama was about tomorrow's office. Both of these shows are about wacky families that flashback to irrelevant situations. Can't wait for the t-shirts. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Call me crazy but I think they should get George Wendt to do the voice of the Alien.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Yeah, he needs to sound lazy. Like Garfield. See, there's something that works about the show. You have an alien living with this family (not named ALF), and instead of changing their lives or using mysterious powers, he's lazy and just uses them. That's different from FG. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Anyone else catch the "Sorry I'm not like those anorexic aliens in the Signourney Weaver movies" or whatever it was. I was, to say the least, shocked that Seth would so blatantly lift a line from Family Guy ("Sorry I'm not like those anorexic babies in the diaper commercials"). It's one thing to create Family Guy-lite with new jokes, but Family Guy-lite with rehashed jokes is too much. I still laughed almost consistently.
JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 I was just shocked that a network owned by Rupert Murdoch aired a show like that. I felt it was a really overtly liberal program with the guerilla style of humor. In a way I hoped that this also meant that the disappointment of hacked original FG episodes on Fox was just temporary. Then again, this was seen AFTER 10 pm. I just hope that when FG comes back, it gets a fair shake. Too many good things get shot down too easily due to politics and other BS. Which is why I have no patience for American television these days. Even if it is good, my reaction is, "How are they gonna mess it up now?" Oh well, AD and new FG being on AS gives me hope for seeing them in pure form SOMEWHERE.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Unless Seth can do both shows justice and not at the expense of Family Guy, I'd rather they cancel this.

slimm44 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 I thought the show was alright. It had it's funny moments and others where I was just like, 'yeah, ha ha' I think seeing the internet trailer/first 6 minutes or so, kind of killed it for me. But Iafter seeing the storyboards at the end of the show, I will watch in May
