Favorite 80s WWF Skits

Recommended Posts

80s WWF was partly known for its corny, campy, over the top skits. A lot of old time fans didn't like them, but a a lot of them, IMO, were really entertaining.

Fuji Vice!!

The Hart Foundation's Secret Liar (infiltrated by Mean Gene)

Funk Brothers Barbeque (Lord Alfred Hayes is part of the meal)

Rick Steamboat's 3 levels of becoming a Ninja

At home with the Macho Man (Playgirl calling him everyday)

A Very Piper Christmas

Hulk Training Mean Gene

The Piledriver music video of Slick.

The Islanders stealing Matilda.

The Rougeaus debuting their American flags after telling Craig DeGeorge about their "Fabulous time in the states"

The picture of Harley Race that would show up when His injury was mentioned in 88.

The heel Managers on TNT trying to convince Randy Savage to join them.

The Piper version of Ebineezer Scrooge (yes, it wasn't even the correct spelling) was pretty bad, with lots of lame jokes and Piper rambling incoherrently at a bunch of B-actors.

Anything with Fuji and Muraco owned everyones ass, though. Fuji General and Fuji Vice especially.

Piper's Halloween was fucking awesome, just for the total stupidity of the whole thing.

Wasn't there BOWLING TIPS from Kamala and Slick?  (Post Kamala face turn)

Yeah, I remember it was on one of the CHV releases...can't remember what one though.

EDIT: Apparently it was Invasion Of The Bodyslammers, from about '93.

"The picture of Harley Race that would show up when His injury was mentioned in 88."

I don't remember this one...what was this about?

On Wrestling Challenge whenever Heenan and Monsoon would discuss Race's injury, a picture of Race's face(surrounded by purple clouds) would appear in the bottom corner of the screen.

Didn't Race's injury stem from him going through a table after Hogan moved out of the way? And Heenan blamed Hogan for moving? Considering all of the tabling that goes on these days, I guess wrestlers have become tougher over the years.

Didn't they even do a Heenan Family interview on the stage and do a ten bell salute to Race?

Piper escorting Cowboy Bob Orton to the doctor's office for a checkup on his arm was classic.

Almost anything with Piper in the 80's was gold, IMO

Gotta second the mention of Mr.Fuji and the Berzerker

No doubt about Piper . . . Rowdy Roddy Piper's Greatest Hits may be my favorite video I own. The definite icing on the cake of the tape is Piper's Pit w/ Rowdy Roddy Piper's guest . . . Rowdy Roddy Piper!

"My shirt says HOT ROD . . . it doesn't say dumb rod. It doesn't say limp rod. It says Hot Rod . . . BUT the second time, I'm long and lean . . . and the third time I'm wonderful!"

Oh, and it's not a WWF skit, but my favorite all-time cheeseball skit is from Mid-Atlantic. Ric Flair goes to Blackjack Mulligan's ranch to ask him to be his tag team partner.

"I've walked through 18 miles of mud and crap to get here!" he complains, as he's wearing his brand new suit and sunglasses, and hasn't even broken a sweat.

Priceless.

Race was known for going for his signature headbutts outside the ring and always missing (kinda like Flair going to the top rope and getting thrown off 99.67% of the time). I highly doubt he was suppose to land the move. He simply landed on the wrong part of the table.

I was speaking in facetious, kayfabe terms.

Oh... hmm... I don't remember if Heenan blamed Hogan, but probably did. I just remember the picture in clouds popping up every 3 minutes.

If only we had 24/7...

Yeah, I remember everyone, from Bobby to the color commentators, saying "Harley Race is in the hospital at the hands of Hulk Hogan!"

yep thats what he kept doing. they did the 10-bell salute with Heenan, Andre, Rude and Hercules and Heenan announced at the end that shortly he would announce the new King. (which was Haku seen as though they had nothing for him when Tama and the other very brief Islander High-Chief Afi were fired)

My favourite WWF skits were anything with Heenan and Monsoon (even if it was just commentating a match, they were that good!!)

Or Monsoon and Jesse...

And why were Tama and Afi fired?

Most of mine were mentioned, but just to jump ahead a year or two past the 80s, a lot of fun moments come from the Prime Time Wrestling circa 1991-92 when they had the studio audience (damn, I miss those for some odd reason).

I remember Macho Man's bachelor party being so incredibly stupid it was funny. There was one weird one where after Earthquake squashed and killed Damien and came on claiming he'd made hamburgers out of Damien and really pissing Vince McMahon off.
