Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted February 28, 2005 I would definitely trade away Jason Giambi, even if he's a bench warmer. According to my Rotowire Fantasy Guide... "The 2004 Season was a nightmare for Giambi as he batted just .208 with 12 HR and it wasn't so hot for his fantasy owners either. He's a horrendous defensive player and should spend as much time as possible at DH this season. You're taking a massive chance if you sign him; you could get 40 dingers, or you could get someone who'll spend months on the DL or who'll play himself out of town. Now one of the principal figures in the BALCO scandal, he may run out of town before he gets a chance to play himself out. Buyer beware." Hopefully Dontrelle Willis has a better season, as last year he seemed to have a lost some of his fire, and would rather keep him than trade for Vazquez, who had a poor 2004. Everyone else looks like a good pick, although if I were to pick a player from the Florida teams, it would be Carl Crawford from Tampa Bay to get some triples and stolen bases. I haven't had my team draft in my #1 league yet, but I'll post it for criticsm and advice later on.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 If you've got Giambi on the bench, he could be a pleasant surprise. His value is down, so you won't get much trade value. If he falters, dump him for someone better on the waiver wire.
Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted February 28, 2005 That was my thought on Giambi, he is my last Offenseive player, he has some upside. I think that the Nomar-Vasquez for Pedro-Willis trade is pretty equal. But Lugo is my SS, so that upgrade makes it worth it.

González (Ari - OF) Good lord, talk about high risk / high reward. All five of these guys could completely implode due to injury this year. Interesting draft otherwise, though. Not too bad for a twelve teamer (though it's hard to really evaluate without knowing, round-by-round, what picks you made in the draft).

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 LooneyTune, I honestly can't imagine how you could ever lose to anyone on pitching with that staff. OMG. It's like all you could possibly hope for. Your lineup's a little weak for an 8 team league, but good lord the pitching. If it's a straight up roto league, you should end up first in all the pitching categories, and if it's a head-to-head league, you just need one or two offensive categories you can cherry-pick and you're all set. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 Eh, last year I had Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Johan Santana, Ben Sheets, and Oliver Perez in a SIXTEEN team league. You guys sucked!
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 2, 2005 I've traded some stuff away... I traded Foulke (CP) for Mark Mulder (SP). In a move I'm not sure was too wise, I sent Renteria and Cordero for Jason Bay and Andy Pettitte. (Crosses fingers for some luck) Also signed Danys Baez somewhere... I might've had a free spot or something, cause I can't remember who I had before him. Must've been someone worse. The only thing I'm seriously questioning is drafting Troy Glaus, mainly because with him, I only have 2 3rd basemen and I'm not sure how he'll perform this season (or any season afterwards). Im looking for 4-8 more players who will keep up with their teams so we can have a competitive league. This league will DEFINITELY be active - we've got four definites (three are TSM), so I'm hoping for the fantasy baseball freaks on TSM to fill out the league. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Just went in blind for my first draft of the season. Will try to do better later. Standard Yahoo 12 Team. My autodraft blew its load with drafting hitters, while neglecting the RP position. Some teams have 3 closers on their team, while I got KC's closer and Todd Worrell. On the plus side, I should be able to get the first closer that comes available, considering everyone else in the league has at least two.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Not that I have any clue on wat to do, but maybe trading Beltre for a good closer would be a good idea, since you seem to have an abundance of third basemen for a small roster (20 men if I counted correctly). Or trade Beltre/scrub for a great closer/reliever, then sign up a long-reliever or maybe a backup catcher/shortstop.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Here's another league lineup. Since I already have 3 teams, I decided to make 1 simply to see how well a team of not-many-stars could perform. Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2005 A pair of teams, both 8 team Yahoo leagues and done by autodraft due to me missing both. Team 1: C- Victor Martinez 1B- Mark Teixeira 2B- Jose Vidro 3B- Scott Rolen SS- Jimmy Rollins OF- Vladimir Guerrero OF- Bobby Abreu OF- Miguel Cabrera Util- Corey Patterson Bench- Aaron Rowand Bench- Paul Konerko Bench- Orlando Cabrera SP- Rich Harden SP- AJ Burnett RP- Francisco Rodriguez RP- Francisco Cordero P- Octavio Dotel P- Guillermo Mota P- Kelvim Escobar Bench- Jeremy Bonderman Bench- Zach Grienke The league also has a very low 'minimum innings pitched' requirement, so i'll likely trade a starter or two and abuse it in similar veign to last years TSM Keeper League. I'm loving that outfield, and the infield isn't far behind either. Team 2: C- Javy Lopez 1B- Richie Sexson 2B- Jeff Kent 3B- Scott Rolen SS- Jimmy Rollins IF- Melvin Mora LF- Moises Alou CF- Carlos Beltran RF- Miguel Cabrera OF- Jason Bay Util- Paul Konerko Bench- Dave Roberts Bench- Ken Griffey Jr. SP- Randy Johnson SP- Roger Clemens RP- Billy Wagner RP- Francisco Cordero P- Octavio Dotel P- Jason Isringhausen P- BJ Ryan P- Jeremy Bonderman Bench- Jeremy Affeldt Bench- Rodrigo Lopez Bench- "Anglesault's Favorite" Jeff Weaver After this league i've now had Scott Rolen on every fantasy team i've had.
