Jake the Snake Roberts

Jake's got a profile up at WWE.com now

WTF?

Hey I love Jake as much as anyone here...but

WTF?

if he truly back, he needs not to truly wrestle at least not actively. He would be much better as the Diabolical Manager type. when he turned heel again during the Savage Snake bite angle, thats the type of mind set would be perfect. Put Jake in the position to manage someone he can mentally control, maybe an unstable Edge and or perhaps even that big ol Lug Gene Snitsky. Then maybe we got something.

If he wrestled on his own, as long as he is capable of it I don't got a problem, I just don't want him getting hurt.

Upon closer examination I don't know where that profile came from but its neither on the Raw or Smackdown size, so where the hell did it come from? I know it was a WWE.com profile but that doesn't mean is truly signed or anything geez people

Maybe it was his profile, from his last stint in the WWE.

no it has his current pics from last night...

Plus the fact its the same 2005 graphic...

did the WWF have a webpage back in 95?

They also have one up for The Rockers. I wouldn't look into it at all, except to post bios and pics.

You're right. Guess I didn't look at the page close enough.

What Looney said. I think Jakes too much of a risk to bring back.

agreed bless his drugged out and drunk soul. We loved seeing the big lug. but there isn't much he can do for the company that even his pride would allow him to do.

If he ever really got clean and sober... he would be an incredible booker and/or manager.

The guy understands psychology like nobody else.

Agreed. However, he seems like the type that would let personal opinions get in the way of good booking. Like putting Jericho in a crossdressing storyline.

Booker, Manager, Commentator, Interviewer, Referee

Any one of these would be better then 90% of the shit that's permeated WWE TV since 2002-2003.

I'm sure those profiles were put up for the newer fans who might not be all that familiar with the old timers.

If Jake is staying, he'll probably be in that Sgt. Slaughter role of backstage agent with the occasional TV squash whenever someone needs to go over a "name" wrestler. Of course, watching Jake waddle into the ring, I kinda hope not.

Meltzer:

After the show was over, Batista & Shawn Michaels beat Edge & HHH in a battle of men doing double duty. The big pop was after Flair attacked Michaels, Jake Roberts returned and put the snake on Flair, who then disappeared. Roberts also distracted HHH and caused him to be pinned. Not only that, but after the match, Jake hit HHH with a DDT and put the snake on him. (thanks to Brian Costello)

Ok, please tell me they taped this and will be releasing it for our viewing pleasure in some form soon. I don't know what I want to see more, HHH taking the DDT or Flair fleeing from the snake...

Off topic, but:

I have to say that MillenniumMan831's avatar and line cracked me up for some reason.

I need to get one with Vince in an old suit saying "Get in there ref!" or "1...2...oh, so close!"

Orton was/is so much better as a heel...but I see him as a tweener. Whether he wins or loses the match against the Undertaker it will end with a handshake.

As for the segment with Jake the Snake, it's obvious Orton wasn't going to take a beating from him. But it definitely sent chills down my back when he came out.

there is alot of personal shit people would either have to accept or ignore with Jake in order for him to be inducted.

I think this whole situation ( if WWE signed Jake) is truly great news. Most people will know but for those who don’t, Jake has suffered from drug-addiction for quite a lot of years. I’ve got a feeling WWE have given him a job, a role in life, to keep him on the straight and narrow and help him get his life running again. This is a great gesture by Vince and I’m sure Jake will fit into the promotion in a personality role.

Look at most of the old managers who were at one time wrestlers. Bobby Heenan, Fuji, Cpt Lou, Jim Cornette, and then the Million Dollar Man. There are others, and it would be awesome to see. Jake and Flair, managing opposites? That aspect alone would put asses in seats. This is an untapped resource. Imagine if the managers were betting too, making money off their guys, and one bet against his protege, it'd be awesome.

I think it could turn a page in wrestling. If done right, it'd be good. Jake being a manager could start all that.

The same thing was said and was used has part of Jakes character in his 1996 return. He had supposedly found religion, and was no longer doing drugs. Well we know what happened there. If Robert's is attempting, or is clean great. However, has much as he loves the business, maybe it's greatest reason he's had so many problems.

hey give Jake props he came out and got Nailed, but he is a man to do it. Despite whatever he does in this life that affected him good or bad, he will always be a Wrestler and he took one for the business.

But once again, to elevate....randy orton.

Whats next? Kamala?, Giant Gonzales?, Jimmy Snuka?

Theres a pretty good reason why Bob Orton is getting inducted into the HOF.

The following are news highlights of a WrestleZone Radio interview with Jake "The Snake" Roberts less than 24 hours after his surprise appearance at WWE RAW this week:

-Jake said he got the call a few days before RAW about possibly coming on. He said he mentioned in the past he would never return to WWE, even for a one-time appearance. He said he could do one of two things - A. not watch the product, or B. try and get in there and shake things up. He chose the latter.

-He discussed the original idea, and how he changed it. He said the skeleton was pretty much the same, but they gave him the freedom to get in there and talk his game. He mentioned respect for Randy Orton's father and grandfather, and said there's no one in WWE right now to guide him, correct him, or help him the way he needs. He felt he could do just that.

-Jake "The Snake" also discussed what went down after RAW ended, when he came back out and got involved in the "bonus" stuff for the live crowd that WWE does every week on RAW. He said it was most fun putting the snake down Edge's pants, as Edge didn't know he'd be doing that and it was kind of funny.

-When it came to talking about returning permanently, Jake accidentally "let the cat (or snake) out of the bag", and said it's definitely in the works. Right now he's waiting to get his hip fixed with surgery, but that while "the deal isn't officially done yet, he agreed to the one time shot at RAW" while recovering from injury.

-Roberts talked about being backstage at the show, saying the talent roster is pretty thin "believe me, it's thin. I was in the lockerroom, and yeah, their talent roster isn't that deep." He did say a few guys got something going, but whether or not it's handled right remains to be seen.

All in all it was a good interview, but a short one due to him being sick. He was originally coming on the show to let everyone know he couldn't do the interview this week and would come back next week for an interview when he's healthy. He wound up talking about the RAW appearance with us for a good 10-15 minutes though, as well as his plans on returning to wrestling again.

The problem with this isn't with Jake going back to WWE, the problem with this is that he stupidly claimed he'd never work there again, when in fact all it took was the right circumstances.

I'm not saying I'm not glad Jake's working with them again, but it needs to be noted that the words "I'll never work there again" are total bullshit 99% of the time.

I think we've all worked that one out by now.

<---Late to the party.
