Main Stage

Black Sabbath

Iron Maiden

Shadows Fall

Killswitch Engage

Black Label Society

Second Stage

Rob Zombie

As I Lay Dying

Mastadon

Haunted

In Flames

Arch Enemy

Black Dahlia Murder

Bury your dead

Soilwork

Trivium

It Dies today

A dozen Furies

and "more"

Not as good as a second stage as last year. Nice to see Shadows Fall on the main stage with Sabbath and Maiden. BLS needs to stop being on the main stage. I'll likely go anyways as I've never seen Maiden live and I like Shadows and sabbath is always good.(August 2nd is my best shot) Mastadon/In Flames are the only appealing ones on the second stage for me. it doesnt have the punch that Slipknot/Hatebreed/Lamb of God had for the fans last year, so expect some disapointment and bitching by younger fans.

I was expecting for the TENTH edition, they would shoot for bigger names besides Maiden and Zombie. I was expecting Manson, Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot to get a spot. No offense but im not sure this line up is appealing to younger fans that would be more willing to fork the bigger ticket price. However they might have secured a few new older fans they may not gotten with Sabbath/Priest last year.

nothing wrong with MAIDEN, if anything that's the biggest name Ozzfest has ever gotten for their show in the 10 year history.

Im just saying Maiden will draw in those older fans but I certaintly can see the younger "mainstreamers" not being happy.

Aside from Killswitch Engage, BLS, and Rob Zombie, not too bad. The idiots still made made the South Florida date Sept. 4th (smack dab into hurricane season for those who don't know about last year getting the shaft from a lineup I desperately wanted to see- fucking Hurricane Isabel). I'd love to see it for Arch Enemy, Mastodon, and Black Dahlia Murder.

Man, another August show for Dallas....

Time to die again like last year.

I need to go and see In Flames...almost saw them two years ago when they came into town, but then some girl I was hanging out with told me to go Less Than Jake with her. Then she forgot to pick me up, was ten minutes away, kept on driving...yadda yadda, I missed both shows that night. So I need to go.

Shadows Fall on main stage is awesome....then there's Maiden...

I'm there August 28th :headbang:

I'm sure they'll still bring in some of the younger kids, what with KSE just getting off that tour with The Used and A Dozen Furies bringing in the more mainstream crowd for winning the Battle for Ozzfest.

It'll be a kickass show. I can't wait for it.

Well, main stage has metal stalwarts Sabbath and Maiden, so there's some nostalgia appeal. KSE's one of the worst bands I've ever heard, ditto Black Label, and then Shadows Fall ranges from mediocre-total shit.

Mastodon and Arch Enemy are both very good live. The rest of second stage either sucks, or else I haven't heard them and they sound like they're probably chuggy whatever. Well, Black Dahlia has their moments I guess.

Considering tix will cost a zillion bajillion dollars, it's a definite "pass" for me.

You could always get a fat chick with money who wants to go to the thing to fall in love with you temporarily and buy you tickets like I did last year.

I'm definitely going to the Great Woods show ... it won't be THAT much money, and I've dug Maiden the times I've seen them. Plus, it's one of the few all-day festivals that I'd even consider going to, and I always have fun at them.

I was expecting for the TENTH edition, they would shoot for bigger names besides Maiden and Zombie. I was expecting Manson, Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot to get a spot.
Isn't that thinking assbackwards? Rather than celebrate a 10-year anniversary with classic bands, let's get a bunch of "new-school" bands that might not last half as long as the classics? If anything, it makes MORE sense to get old-school, classic bands for an anniversary tour.

Don't get wrong, I wasn't wanting those bands there i was just expecting Sharon to try to get a bunch of today's "big" names and justify that as the reasoning for a bigger ticket price.

And apprently Anthrax is there as well but it wasn't listed on ozzfest anywhere i saw with the announcements of the other bands, so thats 3 legendary acts right there.

"July 23 Burgettstown, PA Post Gazette Pavilion"

Hmm...I'm considering it. But I'm worried about the price.

However...what can I expect to pay for tickets? It doesn't have to be the *best* seats, even.

Andrew, I had pavillion seats for Great Woods last year, and I think I spent about $75.00 for them ... technically, a friend bought them and I paid him back by driving and beers and grass and whatnot, so I might be off by $5-10.00 on the ticket price.

Lawn seats'll probably be about $50-60 or so.

That still hurts, but when I went to see Maiden in 03 I was in the section right in front of the lawn, didn't mind it, and had a hell of a time. So if I get something like that I'll be satisfied.

Um...

Anthrax is also going to be there, with the original line-up.

No, they're not. They were rumored for a long time but apparently they didn't like the money or something, because they are not mentioned at all in the official press release.

Shame, too, since Anthrax added to Sabbath and Maiden would just really put this over the top for me...

Yeah, I'm really bracing myself for the pricing on this. I've never been to a Pavillion show before, but looking at the seating chart for Nissan Pavillion it looks like it's set up with the lawn (don't really want that), then 3 tiers of seating (might be good) and then "orchestra section" right in the front, and it says it's seating. Anyone know if that area in front of the stage is really seating or is it like a general admission area?

If I don't go solely for the main stage, you all have permission to shove a SoBe bottle (flavor of your choice) up my ass.

What? The second stage has Rob Zombie (who ALWAYS puts on a killer live show), The Haunted, Bury Your Dead (which'll surely bring out the FSU in Boston), Mastadon, and Arch Enemy. Fuck...the second stage would be better than the main stage if it wasn't for Maiden.

I was expecting for the TENTH edition, they would shoot for bigger names besides Maiden and Zombie.  I was expecting Manson, Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot to get a spot.

Manson's fanbase is the smallest it's been in years. KoRn broke up because Head is pursuing religion. Disturbed is busy working on their third album, I think, and Slipknot will just be coming off of the Subliminal Verses tour (so will Shadows Fall, though), so I doubt they'd want to tour. Besides...Manson hasn't sold HALF of the albums Maiden has sold in their 20+ year career.

No offense but im not sure this line up is appealing to younger fans that would be more willing to fork the bigger ticket price. However they might have secured a few new older fans they may not gotten with Sabbath/Priest last year.

These past two years have had the best lineup's for OzzFest...well...ever. Every band has their own cult following, and the bands on the mainstage have either been huge for a while (Ozzy, Maiden), are about to break it big (Shadows, KSE), or have a growing cult fanbase (BLS). So explain to me why they should feature inferior bands that would probably charge more money to be on the tour than the current bands, when the bands you think younger fans want to see are out?

I'm not sure exactly how it is over there, but at the Verizon Wireless in Selma, the orchestra pit in front is just like general admission. There aren't any seats or anything like that.

Orchestra pit tix are about $100, seating is about $75-80, and lawn are about $50-55.

I couldn't agree more with what you say Corey, especially about Manson. I went to a concert of his a few months back and it had to be the lamest show I'd been too. I mean, the dude puts on a good stage show, but the crowd was tame as hell. Nobody was moshing/moving/throwing the horns or anything like that.

I really like the lineup this year. This years and last years are probably two of the best they've had in a while.

Concerning Anthrax, check out the third band down on the main stage:

http://www.ozzfest.com/bands.html

Question marks. With all of the speculation, it's got to be them. It better be, because Anthrax, Maiden and Sabbath are my three favorite bands of all-time. It just seems to me they weren't included in this press release so Anthrax could take their time announcing a reunion, which would coincide with the countdown they have on anthrax.com. Just a thought.

Anyway, best Ozzfest bill I've ever seen. I've always hated Ozzfest, but that all changed last year with Priest, Sabbath and Slayer. But while I showed up very late last year so I only caught these three and two other bands, this year there's a lot more incentive. The Haunted, In Flames and Soilwork may be shit now, but I like their old material. Shadows Fall is good. But really, if they can secure the Sabbath/Maiden/Anthrax main stage, that is just godly.

Ozzfest 2005 - Iron Maiden - Set to Cancel Last 7 Dates of Ozzfest 2005 - European Scheduling Conflicts

» posted on 03-16-2005 @ 1:09 PM by [ siN ]

According to Iron Maiden's official site, the band will only be performing from July 15th through August 20th as part of OZZFEST 2005. If the listing of dates is indeed correct, the bands last show will be in San Bernadino, California at the Hyundai Pavilion due to scheduling conflicts in Europe - namely their August 31st appearance in Dublin, Ireland.

It appears that the last 7 dates of the tour, which stem from New Mexico to Florida, IRON MAIDEN will not be performing:

August 23 - Albuquerque, NM @ Journal Pavilion

August 25 - Dallas, TX @ Smirnoff Music Center

August 27 - Woodlands, TX @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

August 28 - Selma, TX @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater

August 31 - Nashville, TN @ Starwood Amphitheatre

September 2 - Charlotte, NC @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

September 4 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Sound Advice Amphitheatre

That really sucks, cause I wanted to see these guys too. Just thought I'd give a few of you the heads up before you plunked down 50-100 dollars for tix to see these guys.

Who do you guys think would get the final main stage slot? I would think it would be System of a Down, seeing as they have a new album coming out and the last time they were on they got a HUGE crowd reaction. Unless they have their own headlining tour, I wouldn't be surprised to see them on there.

Children of Bodom on second stage would kick ass too.

You think so, Laz? I've never heard of Bury Your Dead, but am more than familiar with FSU. I still sometimes check out the beatdown boards, just for the shits and giggles.

death_by_burrito: Yeah, there's another thread in the folder mentioning it, but good idea to post it in here if people only check out this thread.

I'd go again just for Maiden, but the rest of the line-up is good too. Of course, the ticket prices by themselves aren't as bad as knowing that in addition to it, if you want to buy food or souvenirs it's gonna hurt a hell of a lot. Plus, the SOBs at the PGP will pat you down so you aren't sneaking anything in.

They showed up at Horrorfest '04 when the Misfits headlined the first night, and the other bands on the bill (in the order they played) were Day to Dismember (emocore, sucked), Zombie Apocalypse (pure zombie-loving insanity), The Ducky Boys (go, Boston punk, go), Bury Your Dead (better than Hatebreed, and amazing live), and The Deadites (fun little comedic horror/wrestling-based techno group, but totally on the wrong bill). The FSU was there for Zombie Apocalypse (which was their warm up) and Bury Your Dead, where they nearly knocked my girlfriend out had this kid Bill not pushed her out of the way (I was shoved into somebody else so my attention was distracted).

We (me, my buddies Jason and Petone, and a few kids that were near us, including Bill) were going to go pick a fight with them, but then realized that not only would we be brutally murdered, but worse yet, we'd be thrown out before The Misfits.

So yeah. Fuck the FSU.

Laz, I have had issues with FSU for years and years ... I was at a Slapshot show back in the early 90s and watched them beat the piss out of a guy in like an 8-on-1 beatdown. It wasn't even funny how bad they were slaughtering the guy, to the point that even the security weren't willing to jump in, and instead just let the cops take care of it.

And I've heard that they're worse now than they've ever been. There were stories of them jumping someone at the shirt stand at the Sheer Terror show in NYC just because of some petty beef (looking at a girl wrong, or some shit).

I definitely think that you made the right choice by not picking a brawl with them.

And if anyone wants to see a bad message board, enjoy this: http://www.bostonbeatdown.com/forum/viewfo...a9ef5b56916b544

Okay, any idea when the last main stage band is going to be announced? I know they had Priest last year, but Priest's current tour dates have no scheduled dates in the US, there are no dates mentioned past May, and it would seem very odd for them not to tour in the U.S. with a new album out.

I'd definitely go if they were there, ticket prices be damned.
