Can Cena's gimmick keep him over?

But who has Cena had to work with? I'm not saying he's the best in the ring but compare him to Randy Orton, the other 'golden boy', who's had the likes of Benoit and Triple H to carry him on TV and on the road. The Rock wasn't the best in the ring either when he first ascended to main-event status but he had Austin and Foley to work with.

I wish he would wrestle like when he first debuted.... His finisher is just a glorified bodyslam from a fireman's carry, too.

And about the finisher being a glorified bodyslam, what was the People's Elbow? A glorified elbow drop. What was the Immortal Leg Drop? A glorified leg drop. What is the Stunner? A glorified neck breaker. Yet those are the most over finishers of all time. Things don't always have to be realistic, or made to suit the IWC, so get over it.

The Rock Bottom was Rocky's REAL finishing move. Plus a sharp elbow drop into your chest REALLY hurts. The Stunner (when done right) looked quite painful. The leg drop is a 300+ pound man crushing down on your neck.

The FU is a fucking firemans carry.

In his one and only match against Benoit it was proven that not only can John Cena be involved in a good match but it showed that he understands the ring enough to put on good matches on his own.

Now, why he hasn't used those skills since then I don't know.

He does need a new finisher.

Why not start doing Brock's F5?

The Rock Bottom is basically a slam too. I agree that he should sorta change it a bit (I like it when he goes down with the opponent, slamming him down, but he rarely does that anymore) but the move is over as fuck.

What would you call the Angle Slam???

I've been saying for years the Angle Slam is the weakest finisher. The FU WAS the DVD when he first started using it. Then Vince banned that, piledrivers, and tombstones. Cena had to keep it cause it was his shot a Lesner's F5.

Although I disagree with the majority of you,I do think the throwback should be his finisher.

Cena is only like 26-27. He's not Batista or anything with age or build hampering him. I've like the gimmick since he first used it on Halloween 02. That's his real personality.

Weren't piledrivers banned back in like, '00 or '01, before Cena was even working for the company?

Yeah, they've been banned for a while for everyone not named Mark Calloway. When people don't know what they're talking about, they just tend to make things up.

you lost your credibility in your arguement when you uttered that stupid ass phrase "acting black".

Which is really why a lot of Smarks hate him becoming popular, but no one will ever say it. Buncha culturephobes.

Which is why virtually every wrestler uses an elbow drop as a transition move? Then again, it must be much more painful because Rock has a run-up on the elbow, right? ;)

Anyway...it's sad that Teddy Long is the only person who's made the F-U look legitimatly painful since Cena started using it.

But, if you use a move for long enough and finish people off with it, people will buy it as a finisher. That's the only reason Hogan's Legdrop worked. Hogan's Legdrop wasn't sold like death any other way, apart from the fact it beat everyone. Ditto for the People's Elbow. The opponent jolted slightly, then got beat. Neither of those were any better than the F-U. The Rock Bottom is as bastardised Uranage. Angle's Angle Slam, recently, isn't exactly deadly looking (it used to be, when he got more spin).

So, the F-U sucks, but it's not the first finisher to do so.

Team Angle Pusher's sig reminds me that with O'Haire gone, Cena should start using his secondary, post-OVW finisher, which was a sort of reverse FU. O'Haire would flip the guy on his back in a fireman's carry and then release his opponent's head first as he slammed them toward the mat. Cena releases the feet first. Same setup, but it looked more devastating, because the opponent's head and shoulders would bear the brunt of the impact, not their feet.

Cena could unveil it at Wrestlemania and call it the FU-2, or the FU...And Your Mother, since JBL ragged on Cena's mom on last night's Smackdown.

Every week with these "Cena sucks, he should change X, Y and Z about his gimmick/move set/promos/etc".

We all get that most smarks dont like him, thats cool, but why would he change something if its working?

I could see if the people weren't behind him, but when he's one of the most over guys in the company I really dont get why there would be a need to change anything.

^ I said it, but after I thought it would be better if I delete that sentence.

I said something like "What if acting black is not cool at all 2 years from now?"
