Some Guy 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2005 Eddy, HBK, and Rey are all more charismatic than Batista as well as Cena, JBL, Angle, HHH, and Booker T. And that Ric Flair guy has a little charisma too. Eddy & Rey have a lot of charisma, but a lot of their appeal is also based on their in-ring ability. I don't think their charisma alone is better than Batista's, certainly not Rey anyways. Eddy maybe. Eddy is incredibly charimatic. He's made that stupid "Latino Heat" gimmick work based soley on his charisma, his ring work doen't get people to pop for his promos. I'll give you the fact that a lot of Rey's charisma is based on his reing work but he gets better reactions during his matches and was until very recently (because he's not at all beign pushed) getting better pops than Batista. HHH has the ability, but he's been on top for so long that fans are just bored of him. He if really tried, I think he could be up there, but he isn't at the moment. HHH has more charisma than Batista. Because he isn't showing it as of late doesn't mean it isn't there. Ric Flair & HBK are in the same boat. They used to have charisma flowing out of their every pour, but they are just too old now and don't have the appeal that they used to. Flair especially is more of a ranting old lunatic than he is the charismatic ladies man of old. Shawn has started down that path too, although Flair is still a ways off in the distance. If they put Flair in the ring for a promo that didn't consist soley of him saying "You're the best, Champ!" he'd be tearing down the house. Once again not shoeing doesn't mean it he doesn't have it. Watch the Raw match from Monday and tell me that Shawn doesn't still have charisma. The crowd was going crazy for him during a squash match. Booker isn't even close. Booker T has a ton of charisma, he wouldn't still be over after being buried for 4 years if he didn't. I'm actually surprised you didn't mention Jericho. I should have mentioned both he and RVD, as Canadian Chick pointed out. It was just an oversight on my part. Cena's stuff is great for the small minority of young marks that will actually buy merchandise, but for the general fanbase, he's gotten too stale to be considered a top ten guy. Cena is was over based solely on the fact that he has tremendous charisma and mic skills. Would the "general fanbase" be you or the people who go to SD! shows and give him the biggest pop of the night? At this point, Batista and Angle are the only ones that can really make it seem like what they're doing matters, and that seem clever enough that you'll tune in to see them. JBL and Eddie's stuff can be funny, but it seems more like midcard joke stuff than Batista's instant badass type of charisma. I don't see Batista as having "instant badass" charisma. I see a guy who got over to a rather small degree because people thought he might be a threat to HHH and looked cool in a suit. Wait until after WM when he's won the title and the fans realize that he sucks and shit on him, they are already starting to realize that he's not what they wanted him to be, the pops are waning every week. What has he ever really done to even be considered a bad ass? I think his goofy WBF posing on the ramp before his matches make him look more like a queer than a bad ass. On Raw this week when he was doing his pose and lookign at HHH it look more like he wanted to fuck HHH than beat him up. He was posing while gazing longingly into HHH's eyes with a smirk on his face. And he certainly doesn't wrestle like a bad ass. Bad asses kick people's ass. Batista throws a few weak looking punches, a spinebuster (which everybody in the fucking company uses), and a sitout powerbomb, that he can't even do right. Ausin had bad ass charisma, Goldberg had bad ass charisma, Scott Steiner had bad ass charisma. I still can't figure out why people like this guy and delude themselves into thinking he is the second coming. The only reasoning I've heard is that he did a couple of cool vignettes and looks good in a suit. No one has been able to come up with anything else.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Here's a proper charisma listing in the WWE as of right now: 1. Kurt Angle 2. Batista 3. Chris Jericho 4. Shawn Michaels 5. Undertaker 6. JBL 7. Ric Flair 8. Eric Bischoff 9. Triple H 10. Eddie Guerrero HHH has more charisma than Batista, don't kid yourself. WTF? Since when did Batista having charisma even become an arguement? I thought it was that he looked good in a suit. But being able to smirk real well...does not constitute charisma. You rated him above Jericho, Michaels, JBL (who's gotten over pretty much on his charisma) WTF? For one Batista's had what? 1 month on his own, where he doesn't just stand in the background. So I doubt that's sufficient time to say he has great charisma. And 2, the 1 month that he has had on his own, his promos haven't been that great. He was good at the little subtle smirks, and jabs at HHH...but that definitely doesn't make him #2 in the WWE with charisma. If you read what I said, I acknowledged that HBK, HHH, and Jericho all have more natural charisma than Batista. However, based on what they've done the last few months, Batista's shown more charisma than anyone except Angle. Jericho's had some embarrassing interviews that make me want to change the channel, and it's HHH's own fault that he doesn't anything original with his character in two years. I'll admit that while Cena annoys me to the point that I stopped watching Smackdown regularly, when I've checked in lately, he looks like he's gotten better. But no matter how long JBL holds the title, I still don't see him as a main eventer because of his character. To be honest, I felt the same way about Eddie when he had the belt, and that's why I don't rate them higher. To clarify, I judge charisma much more on how much someone entertains me than hwo much the crowd pops.
