X-Net Icon

Says on the poll there were 5,000 plus votes and I got 1 percent.

So, apparantly, I got 50 votes?

Bullshit did I get that many.

That'd mean Toxx got 250 votes. Again, bullshit. Something smells distinctly fishy.

We actually just grabbed a noob from Xnet. Hopefully he'll enjoy his stay - it takes time to build a rep with a new group, of course.

*hits Tom with a wet fish*

N00b to you mebbe, but I be a legend in X-Net... okay okay, so I run the legendary fed in X-Net (as in the only 4 time FotM, XFW).

So rather than just going through the pleasantaries, I figured I'd jump straight in, and say that I look forward to jobbing to all of you in the near future...

I mean jobbing you all out in the near future! Yes! That's what I meant!

*ends the bad humour*

Nah, seriously, X-Net's a cool place, it just takes some time to get stuff rolling over there to be honest, it took us about 3 or 4 months before we even began making a dent, so when you guys got numebr 1 show, that was pretty damned good going.

But like I said to Tom the other night, compared to most feds, this place is at a slight disadvantage regarding the monthly ratings, as you could get number 1 show each week, and yet still not come first overall due to the lack of regular RP's, which is bad if you look at it in the sense of "We can't hit number 1 overall most of the time". But good if you look at it in the light of "This is a unique idea, and if we can show them it works well, we'll put ourselves on the map regardless".

Which is kinda why I'd been checking the place out for a while, been umm'ing and ahh'ing about whether to join another fed or not, but I really hate RP'ing now (I dun mind writing a skit on the XFW shows here and there... but full on RP'ing just bores me now), which is what drew me here, I like the idea behind the fed, and the fact that it's possible to go far just by having fun writing matches.

and to everyone entered into Icon who got through (I've not been keeping an extra close eye on it, as even tho' Rach (co-owner of the fed with me, and my g/f) is judging it, I'm pretty much not enjoying the whole "vote as many times" thing and such... too many holes, not enough patches if ya catch my drift.) Annnyway... back to what I was saying... good luck to all in it, as long as you all put your best foot forward, you can't go wrong. 'tho I expect one of three people to win it...

1 - Tamu ('cause a) he frickin' owns anyway (Yeah, yeah, he's in my fed and all, but he does rock, heh) and b) he has a huge following)

2 - Ethan Andrews ('cause again, he pretty much rocks, considering I wanted to hate his RP, but had to applaude it at the end)

3 - Burn (I detest this guy... but he has such a huge following that I expect him to win... plus some people are voting for him solely because Rachel dislikes him, hardly making it a fair contest).

It is, essentially, a huge popularity contest... but it's not in the sense of "who's most popular in X-Net", it's more "Who's got the most friends with free time in X-Net?" 'cause you can just vote, and vote, and vote.

Also of note... I found out that the voting can be done once every hour... so feel free to use that to your advantage in the next rounds ;).

Okay, I've rabbited on for long enough, I'm looking forward to hanging around, and with any luck I'll pick up a win in my first match... and if you'd like to look out the window and up, there's a pig going past that tree ;).

Well, voting's open. I don't care who else you vote for, but please use one of your ten votes for me. Whether or not I 'deserve' to win, if I get a long way it'll raise our profile just a little bit more.

God only knows how, but Toxx is through to the next round, a 'player's choice' round. Now let's see you take that SWF flavor and show them what our fed does best. I want to see something that's up there with Chicken McNuggets for the Soul, Revenge is a Dish Best Served in Vermont, Operation POOFNAR... you know how to do. If you put up a rough draft RP in the next couple of days, the rest of us will give you feedback to make it number one.

Those were all comedy promos, right? Hmm. Well, I think I can *probably* manage something...

Give me a little while here.

Thank God for that. I'm on holiday next week so it's not like I could have promo'd anyway.

Well there ya go then... ya chose the right week to get yourself removed from the tournament ;).

Seriously it's a shame to see ya go, I liked your stuff, even if I felt it could have been improved, I feel you should have lasted a hell of a lot longer, but thems the breaks I guess.

Heck, it was shocking all round, Tamu was the lowest of those who stayed in, and he's looked upon as a favourite (I think Sharpie's badly made comments hurt him just like they hurt you this round).

How the hell can Jake Matthews of all people be leading the pack? That just doesn't ring at all right to me...

I dunno... I like the guy OOC, but I dun see him as "The best in there".

In turn... seriously, how can someone read Tamu's RP and claim it gets worse towards the middle? That RP frickin' owned.

Then we have Ethan... seriously, I've said he could go far in this tournament, but not with that crap, Ethan said all of what? ten words or something? The RP wasn't even about Icon, and in general, it went nowhere and did nothing. Yet it was apparently "amazing" and crap.

I mean jeez... it's pretty blatant here, if the judges think you're a laid back kind of guy, they'll hit you with harsh comments, if they think you'll bitch and whine about the comments, they'll feed you nice ones and make you sound better than you are.

I agree with previous comments made... Brad literally has no clue what the hell he wants out of an RP'er, one RP does something and he says it was crap, another RP does something similar, and it owns... someone does a comedy RP where it puts their own guy down, but does so in a hilarious fashion, it gets chastisized, someone else does an alleged comedy RP, and it's amazing, despite the fact that it has nothing to do with anything, and wouldn't be fit for a skit show in France, let alone in a country with something worth watching in it.

It's official, whoever wins this tournament, even if it's Tamu, can only "brag" about the free web hosting they're getting, because trying to brag about winning this shambles of a tournament would be like me "bragging" about winning the Worldwide Membership match... where only XFW'ers bothered to RP. (And only two of them at that... seems a shame Jammah wasted that RP, he should have entered Icon and showed them true RP'ing ;). But they'd have picked out all of his flaws, and buttered up the whiners instead).

Heh.

Personally, I didn't find Ethan all that funny. It's like "OMFG CHRISTOPHER WALKEN~!" Hell, I didn't even think he was that funny in that whole rp.

Tamu's was good, definitely the best of the lot. I'd argue that last week's was much better, but at least Tamu is using his own character as the star rather than crutching it two dozen celebrities. Jake and Ethan seem to be getting mega-pushes, and frankly it is really irritating me. I wasn't impressed with Ethan's gimmick in the first place, and he has yet to really deliver anything other than the aforementioned 'I smoulder with generic anger' bit. Jake Matthews has, in my opinion, blown for the last two weeks, yet I'm sure he's going to get the same comments as before.

But hey, speaking to the choir, right?

And this is why I didn't bother entering this abortion of a competition.

Actually, had my vacation not hit in the first round after the tryouts I might have, but I'm starting to be glad I didn't.

I entered... and didn't even get through to the voting round. Why? Because I was one of the few XFW'ers that they could say "no" to and not have me kick up a fuss (There's a lot of hatred towards us being a 4 time FotM over there, but hey, if you're good enough to take it, then it's tough for the rest I say.) So they gave me the boot, and apparently let Burn through. Good to know there's no favorites *rolls eyes*

I'm gonna retract my earlier statements of Tamu winning it... as Brad and Sharpie seem desperate to try and make this "not" a popularity contest, by slating the most popular guy (i.e. Tamu, as everyone loves him OOC), and trying to get either Jake to win (barely popular) and Ethan (Because he hates X-Net ya know... so as such, they think it'd be an "upset" for him to win in an X-Net competition).

Of course by trying to stop it being a popularity contest, they are, in fact, making it into a popularity contest. As the judges definitely aren't using good judgement here.
