Hogan vs. Austin for WM 21

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Bob Fitzgerald for sending in the following:

On the Nationally-Syndicated STEVE & DC RADIO SHOW this morning, Hulk Hogan said the following:

* They tried to put together a Hulk Hogan/Steve Austin match for Wrestlemania, but they couldn't come to terms.

* Regarding the chances of him clashing with Muhammed Hassan at WM21, Hogan said that he was sick of "this guy calling the President a coward, and calling our troops a bunch of chickens... This war is serious, and this guy (Hassan) is crossing the line" - then adding: "WrestleMania is a long show to sit through...I just might have to come down there to the ring and beat somebody up" - he NEVER mentioned being too hurt to wrestle.

Translation: Hogan wanted to win, but Vince didn't agree.

Last I heard Hassan was going to get involved with Austin and Piper, so chances are this is Hogan working his own angle, and bears no relation to current plans.

Hogan should hit Vince up with a retirement match between him and Randy Savage. That's what'll put this year's Wrestlemania over the top of any past ones.

Hmmm, this sounds more like Hogan trying to weasel his way onto WM and back into the company than anything WWE was thinking about doing.

He's the Orange Cockroach. He will not go away.

Savage is all talk when it came to fighting Hogan. So I never see this happening.

I have a feeling Hassan will get interview time and be interrupted by Hogan at Wrestlemania

I believe Hogan gets involved with the Piper's pit after Hassan interupts it.

leading to a beer bath of sorts.

Wait he's talking down towards the whole Hassan thing, but didn't a very similar angle in the early 90s provide him with a lot of extra cash?

I'm pretty sure he was talking in 100% character.

Impossible!

He didn't say "brother" or "dude" once.

-=Mike

...Nor did he mention body-slamming the 6 metric ton Andre the Giant through the mat and into the Earth molten's core in front of 256,980 fans at WrestleMania III...

I'm calling that to. Hussan interrupts Piper's pit, Hogan interrupts Hussan.

An 'impromptu' tag or four way dance follows.

I think this has more to do with Austin not wanting to work with Hogan, than it does Hogan wanting to go over. I doubt Hogan would have such a problem putting over Austin, he had no problem putting over guys during his last two runs in the fed. Besides, didn't Austin turn down a match with Hogan for X8? Which is why Rock got the program...

Hogan and Austin are friendly now. It's likely either men wanted to lay down and likely feel that a confrontation against Hassan during the pit would get over more and benifit both better.

Once they didn't get along but they buried that issue.

Hogan would want to go over. He doesn't want to lose anymore. The major problem stopping him coming back is that Hogan wants to be the Hogan from the 80's who beats everyone with the legdrop, while Vince sees Hogan's role as one of putting guys over. Hogan had no problem putting some guys over during his last two runs, but the same problems arose of him wanting to beat guys that Vince didn't want him beating, which is why he left, at least the first time.

True, Austin turned down a match with Hogan at WM X8, but that was down to Austin's dislike of Hogan's politicking, and they've since worked things out. I'm sure the two are cordial enough with each other, but that doesn't mean that either man is willing to lose to the other, and I guarantee that the only reason Hogan is claiming the match fell apart this time is because Hogan wanted to win and Austin and/or Vince disagreed.

Hogan appearing at WM 21 is highly unlikely given that it's had zero build up. As for Piper's Pit with Austin, the only guy who is set to interrupt that, and who should be the only one, is Muhammed Hassan, Putting anyone else in there, especially Hogan, takes away from whatever angle is planned for it.

Hunter's Torn Quad, Hogan will be at WrestleMania. They have been promoting the HOF class of 2005 as being at WrestleMania.

I'm talking about in terms of doing anything of note. The most he'll probably do is wave a little, maybe pose, but that's likely it. If they want to tease something, then whatever they do shouldn't be big, and it should be used to build to an announcement that Hogan will be on Raw.

That would be the normal HOF inductee you are talking about. This is egomaniac Hulk Hogan we're talking about here who has his induction televised on saturday night. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hogan interact with people like JBL holding his title and whatnot.

I'll say one thing about Hogan vs. Austin:

That match sure would've sucked ass.

No doubt.

But, like Hogan vs. Rock at WM X8, the heat would have probably been thermonuclear.
