The One And Only Grandia III Thread!

Recommended Posts

This is for everything concerning the Grandia III series.

Grandia III's story revolves around a 16 year-old boy named Yuuki. Because of his love with the legends of the King of Pilots, Yuuki is building his own airplane in secret from everyone including his own mother. His plan is to leave his tranquil little island hometown and fly to the mainland.

While getting the final parts for his plane, Yuuki meets a 16 year-old priestess named Alfeena while she travels looking for her missing brother. Optimistic and earnest, Alfeena is the high priestess in charge of hearing and relaying the words of the Holy Beast, which is believed to be the guardian deity of the world.

After Yuuki and Alfeena meet, Grandia III takes to the skies with a sword-wielding Yuuki as Alfeena's protector in the search to find her brother, Emerius. Emerius held the rank of high priest, but it went to his sister since he went missing three years ago. It seems that Emerius has had a change of heart and is now a cold and unfeeling man that weilds a giant guillotine-like sword called "Godkiller." Emerius now feels that the world of men should be ruled by men instead of dieties. He's trying to be that ruler, but it's possibly not because he wants to.

Grandia III is currently set for a summer release in Japan. RPGamer will have continuing coverage as soon as more details surface.

So from what I read we've got a game that will probably take place in the air lots (ie: Skies of Arcadia) and also apparently Emerius might end up being not really the "bad guy" but the anti-hero whom we still have to end up killing. Interesting starting plot details.

Game supposedly is going to be released sometime this year in Japan, and no words on whether it'll make it to our shores. Although, considering the success of Grandia and Grandia II, I think its safe to say its coming over.

Sounds like it'll have a feel more akin to the first Grandia with the kids in the small town going off to explore and the like. I'm calling Grandia 3 to be up there with SO3 in the best battle system ever category.

Did anyone play Grandia Xtreme? It was really bland, but the battle system was awesome, came together much nicer than in the original Grandia. Didn't play Grandia II.

I love that this is the "One & Only" Grandia III thread. As if there was a strong possibility of other Grandia III threads poppping up.

What *was* Grandia Extreme, incidentally?

Grandia Xtreme came out after Grandia II, It was basically a dungeon-crawl with a pretty lean story. The battle system was really great, though. The amount of customization was pretty crazy.

The game wasn't bad. Until after you make it to the main land. It crashes from there into a realm of badness that you just can't return from.

Grandia Xtreme was better than Grandia III. Which considering how bad GX was, says a lot about III.

I was sorta expecting you to show up to say something. ^_^;; Sadly, I actually remember that.

And to keep this on topic, I don't think I ever got past the temple because the game just kept making me wanna cry. I never played a video game I wanted to chuck out the window before, but this one did.

^_^;; Good to be back... Actually.

And to continually keep this on topic, yes, yes this really did suck that badly. Avoid this game at all costs.

*just knows some mod is coming to close this anytime soon*

What? I thought mods closed things.

Oh wait... This place still has no mod, doesn't it? Figures as much.

Ahem, keeping on topic, I think the only thing I liked about Grandia III was probably the battles, they were fun and pretty good overall. Quite fast and quick. About the only thing that was good out of the game. Cause even the music wasn't that good.

So still same old concerning this folder. That's good to know. Means I'll still love chatting it up here.

...and to continually be on topic, did anyone wanna kill the lead girl's VA? I mean she was brutal on the ears. Then again all the VAs weren't that good, but her's took the cake.

It's true. We've got frickin' anarchy 'round here. I post gay porn in bad threads when I want them to end, Choken One has come back like three times since you left, and there's this real creep-o from bumfuckingnowhere, Nova Scotia who looks like Baba Booey, has reached orgasm while thrusting on weightlifting equipment, and wants to "plant his seed" in Leena, who has also come back multiple times since you left.

oh so now everyone posts here, you're supposed to be discussing the game.

If you only played up to the temple, you didn't get to hear the worst town music in history, which was coming up. Xtreme was good, if you can accept that the story is purposefully given a back seat to the gameplay.

Nah, I was just trying to keep it on task as long as possible, SO. Just cause I figured a mod would come around.

Actually, I got past the temple, so yes, I know it was bad. I quit just after the temple after the second "God". Ok, so that was a lot longer than I said I played for but I didn't want to admit I gave the game some hope that it would redeem itself.

So utter anarchy eh? Wow, that's ... basically the same as it was the last time I was here.

Even if the mods weren't asleep, considering how numerous threads in the past were allowed to go far off into another galaxy of a subjects without any mod intervention when they actually were paying attention, it's rather silly to think this one would get shut down for deviating by an inch or so.

Now comes the part where I humor SO3 by making an on topic post

...

I played the original Grandia for about a week, sometime earlier this decade. That's the extent of my Grandiaing.
