I need to find some "before" pictures for me. I was a fat fuck from age 7 to almost 19 and I always wanted to lose weight, which I finally did 2 years ago via losing my appetite to depression and dropping from 176-125 pounds in 4 months or so in 2003. Now some say I'm too skinny.

I trained to wrestle for a couple months on 2 separate occasions- once while fat, and once after losing weight, expecting to do better. It's harder when you're skinny. Steel cables/ropes hitting non-fat-covered ribs= teh pain.

I want to add some muscle and maybe go try wrestling again (but I just want muscle period) but gyms cost money, unfortunately.

This isn't about me, though. I'm just saying that I have an idea of what you went through, and I respect your hard work and commitment. Bravo.

P.S. I thought this thread was about the poster with the balding guy in his avatar and the dysfunctional lady at home, The New Me.

Yeah I want to get down to about 215. Unfortuantely my shoulders are like so broad that if i lose anymore than that I will look lanky.

I've been lifting weights and jogging and I've lost about 10 pounds. But I mean Cola is a real killer. He's right. I haven't had one in about a month. It's hard to get away from the caffeine though. It's like a fucking drug addiction.

Confirm something for me: Diet coke is ok, right? I know since it's loaded with caffeine it's a diaretic (not a problem since I drink plenty of water), but in terms of the sugar that makes you fat, it's not there, right? Because I went from someone who despised Diet Coke and always drank regular to using C2 as my "gateway" to realising Diet Coke is not so bad and now I always drink it instead of regular with the assumption that it's not bad for me. Correct?

I don't know about long term health, but diet soda's fine for keeping weight off. I always drank a ton of soda, at least 6 cans a day (in addition to sugary tea and kool-aid) and whenever I go without caffeine to this day, I get tired and have headaches.

Ever since I started losing weight 2 years ago (doesn't seem like that long) I've increased my average level of soda consumption, sometimes drinking a whole 12 pack in a day. Diet Cherry Coke and Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper are very good, and all diet sodas that I know of contain 0 calories and no sugar. Drink up and be merry.

Yeah, diet sodas are fine in terms of weight loss. You won't GAIN anything by drinking them, as essentially you're just drinking flavored / colored water. All of the sweet n' low in them are probably going to kill you (and me, since I drink a lot of the shit) in the long run, though.

Question about sodas in general - does the carbonation fuck you up? Waaaaay back during my days of playing high school hoops, my coach used to have this thing about carbonated sodas. Said they screwed up your cardio-pulmonary system, messed with your stamina. The bastard used to make us run wind sprints if he ever caught us drinking them. Is there any medical truth to that? Does the carbonation do something to your system?

Since you graduated, do you think you're done with rugby, or are you going to hit the weights and broaden up your shoulders and stuff?

Rugby actually just started for this season, so its a whole new season baybee :headbang:

Switching from regular to diet soda will instantly make you drop about 10 pounds, guaranteed.

I can attest to that, as I recently made the switch from regular to diet to cut calories. Overconsumption is not really an issue, as I only drink a 20 oz in the morning and then water for the rest of the day, but the problem comes from finding the one-in-a-million diet sodas that actually taste decent.

So far I like Diet Dr Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew

Hell that's what I love about rugby. You don't have to go to the school to still play. Haha. It's just a gigantic fun club. It's like a fraternity with no bullshit.

7's season is starting up soon. I can't wait to get out there and get at it. I didn't get to play b/c of classes this year. But I'm going to get out and play some silly booger and do some 7's.
