Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 (edited) This was like a BIG show, y'know? Six or seven matches, lots of GOOD promos, another BIG return...I think it's the best show (edit: the best HD, I mean) of the year. More expert analiysis later, but I gotta say NGA has BROUGHT this goods as champ thus far. Nice work, mon ami. More to come. NYU 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 I'm particularly unhappy about something on the show, but I'm going to keep that opinion to myself. Of course, unless someone asks me about it. Otherwise, good show, at least from what I've seen so far. Like Hoff said, I'm really feeling the Axel title reign at this point.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 I'd like to hear it, especially if it concerns me.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 An interesting note (well, a note, anyway): Chris Stevens wasn't supposed to show up tonight, but as I was writing the intro I thought "what am I gonna do with Scott Hall..." and then I had the idea. So if it felt weird or out of place, there you go, though I thought it came off okay.
Guest cosbywasmurdered Report post Posted April 15, 2005 steam of concious feedback. w00t scott hall. awesome interview from SG. didn't really get the Jasmine thing backstage, but I'm hocked up on cold meds. Oooh! It's PRL and That guy...you know Poppa Smurf or somethin! woot. This should be g0od. *hour later* awesome first paragraph PRL! A bit long. The caps mean youre MAD right? I wouldnt want to fuck wit you. This interviewz detailed! I think its longer than any of the matches i've ever writen. oh man Brickston is kicking popick's ass. that's really goin to elvate whoever writes for him. oh a match too! We should rename Helddown teh Lightning Zone...get it? cuz prl has light...ah whateva. i'll do more feedbac later.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Hoff was right, a lot of stuff this week. Awesome job. Didn't understand the opening segment, but still liked it. The randomness of Hall just popping up just put it over the top. Good SG promo setting up his match later that night. The Birmingham Bad Boyz are probably what the Heavenly Rockers should of been, just with a rock star gimmick. Still, any addition to the tag team ranks is welcomed. I thought PR's stuff was better this week. Skimmed the match. The usual solid effort by PR. Like I told Patty, I thought he did an awesome job with THR & Holly's promo. Excellent work. The "HOLLY, I WANT TO BE THE FATHER OF YOUR ABORTION!" line was hilarious. I'll be honest, I absolutely LOVED Alf's promo. Him going off on Shaq for sitting out games due to a stomach virus was great. Maybe that's because I'm a Spurs fan and know it'll probably be them vs. the Heat in the Finals. The Frankies-HR match was better than it had any right being. I spent most of the week touching up the Axel-Brannigan segment later that night, so I didn't pay as much attention as I would of to the tag match. But I'm pretty happy with it. Speaking of the Axel-Brannigan promo, I wasn't too thrilled with it. On one hand, I didn't want it to drag on forever; on the other, I didn't want it to be too short like I thought the first version was. As much fun as it's been going from tags to a high-profile feud, my promos are rather bland. By no means was the segment bad, it's just not as good as the other guys who can cut great promos here (Hoff, NYU, Zack, Patty, etc). Then again, like many of us, maybe I'm my own harshest critic. Us smarks bash WWE for their recent line of shitty shirts, and the best our marketing department can come up with is a plain shirt with an "H"? Spend sometime making a mock DVD cover. In all seriousness, I always enjoyed Hoff's use of graphics to hawk whatever's being sold. Good promo and match as well. The soap opera that is "Ned's my daddy" continued with another, I thought, very good skit w/Ned & Alix. I've had a blast working with Patty (who has become, what I guess you would call a writing partner) on those things. The opening before going to The Superstar's piece reminded me of PTI, where they come back from the last break with Tony midway through a joke, then Wilbon laughs. Yeah. Well, anyway, I liked that skit. Almost did one for last year's Angleslam with cameras on the set of Oliver Stone's epic "AS." A bio-pic on the namesake of the OAOAST, Anglesault. Would've sucked compared to SS work... As much as I loved Alf's promo, I loved the Dude-Rodez segment even more. "Saturday Night Beaver" was classic. The Docs-HH segment was weird alright, but it had its charm. Jingus swallowing an 7" Zack action figure, Ima never having had sex with Sean Waltman, etc. But the question on all our minds -- do the Hitmen now have a valet? Nice return win for Knight. Skimmed the rest. Looked good. Easily one of the best HD in a long time. I'll feedback the rest tomorrow. But let me finish my saying Adam did an excellent job with the post-match activities of Axel-Black.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 steam of concious feedback. Stream of BARELY conscious feedback. As far as the shirt goes, I wanted something basic, sort of like the Austin 3:16 shirt. I mean, obviously the "H" logo doesn't have the same significance, but it's something you wouldn't be embarassed to wear in public, y'know?
Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 As far as the shirt goes, I wanted something basic, sort of like the Austin 3:16 shirt. I mean, obviously the "H" logo doesn't have the same significance, but it's something you wouldn't be embarassed to wear in public, y'know? I know. I once had a WWF shirt with Warrior (with his arms up to chest, looking to the heavens), Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts, the Rockers and somebody else when I was younger. It was the same shirt HBK wore for his Lumber Jack match against Jim Duggan on Raw back in 1993, which is available on a couple of CV.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 I like drunk people. They're funny. So Scott Hall in the opening segment was also funny. Chris Stevens getting cheered? Will he turn face? Would freshen up his character, for sure. Good SG promo, saying what he had to say. Heh. Birmingham Boyz was cute. I wonder what chavs are called in America. Decent PRL promo/match. I'd suggest making the big moves mean a bit more, add some description. Prototype hits SJP with a DVD, powerbomb, belly to belly suplex, and it's pretty much just written out like I have there. John Brickston could be an interesting character with some more background. In the world of the OAOAST, announcers get humiliated and abused as a matter of course. Poor Terry Taylor seems to be making a challenge for the "Most Humiliated" Award. I kinda liked the Taylor made man too. Is that wrong? Anyways, fun promo. The fan comments were great. I don't know anything about American sports, so a lot of Alf's promo was over my head. Good to see him sticking around, though. Good Frankies-HR match, cool spots and an even better post-match brawl. Looking forward to seeing a feud develop here. Using Cornette in the Axel-Tony confrontation was a nice touch. I also like Tony's new "Brannigan's Law" catchphrase. The LA match should be great. I don't think anything was bland here, Tony. Not as crazy as a Patty promo, sure, but serious and effective. And I have to go do real life stuff. More later. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Long show, too long to get feedbacking with about 3 hours sleep. I will just say that Hoff's new t-shirt looks like a Harvard t-shirt. Hey, maybe they'll sue us. I hear they're pretty smart, so I'm sure they'd know how.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Hoff hurt Scott Hall...j00 bastard! I liked Some Guy's interview. Rather then just hating CWM he still feels the old C-Dub is there and would like to find him. Its a good slow build and I enjoy it thus far. Ha! KC's new tag team are a couple of Clepto Brits. Caboose should be able to relate to them pretty easily. ZING~ I got bored with the PRL segment 2 paragraphs in and also got sick of the numerous Rock rip-offs. Scrolling past that... MALE FAN TERRY TAYLOR TOUCHES KIDS! TERRY (a single tear forming in the corner of his eyes) waiting on the greatest rock n wrestling band of all time the... Poor Terry. All the Rooster jokes were great and I like how The Heavenly Rockers are becoming so full of themselves that their true colors are once again shining through. Alfdogg once again brings the good and ya gotta love how he keeps schilling the nachos. We need some Alfdogg brand nachos like the old WWF Wrestler Ice Cream Bars. Except the chips can be in the shape of all your favorite OAOAST Superstars! more feedback later.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Using Cornette in the Axel-Tony confrontation was a nice touch. I also like Tony's new "Brannigan's Law" catchphrase. Gotta thank you for that one, Eski. I saw you mention it last week, so I google'd "Brannigan's Law" and found its origin, which was used during commentary -- "I don't pretend to understand Brannigan's Law, I just know Tony's enforcing it," or however it was written in the match. Finished reading the rest of the show. CWM-SG: There's an aura whenever some of the odies are in the same ring together, be it any combination of Zack, CWM, Caboose, SG or Alf. Maybe it's because it takes you back to a time of innocence. A time where the OAOAST was nothing more than a thread in General Chat that eventually moved to Fantasy Booking, where it owned the place, eventually leading to VM and our move back here. Anyway, fun match. Good to see Brock will live on. I kinda get the feeling I said that last week. Rick Martel! Always liked the guy. How many ex-wrestlers are OAOAST agents? I know of Martel, Terry Taylor & Terry Funk. Onto the Zack-Black confrontation. Thought it was good. I don't recall the two ever wrestling one-on-one before, so it's one I'm looking forward to. Oh yeah. The Dude vs. Rodez at LA. I don't want to sound bias, but I'm pulling for the Dude. Excellent main event. Eski, lucky bastard. You got the ME slot. That oughta keep Brannigan from doing jobs in tag matches for quite sometime. To be honest, I was a bit concerned about Dan winning. Even though it was clear this was about Brannigan & Axel, in the back of my mind I thought Black winning might send the impression the feud's the other way around, that's why I suggested the Black T beating at the end. But everything came off great at the end. Eski & Adam did an excellent job writing the match, especially the beat down at the end, which I thought was very well-written.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Actually that match was all Adam's work, and he did a great job so all props to him. I know what you mean, Tony, Black winning did perhaps put an odd slant on the Axel-Brannigan feud, but I think it worked ok. Of course, having a pin over the champ in the main event, I would say that Oh, and Zack's segment for our feud was awesome. Really threw in all the history and the background as to why these two men should be at each others throats. I really enjoyed this, obviously as its my character, but the writing was excellent too. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Awwwww no Angel Wings with Heart-Shaped Box playing Remember the Taco Bell dog? The Taco Bell dog died on the production set. A van backed up and ran over it. True Story. So if you ever see them bring back the dog you'll now know its not the original. Oh that lovable Carl Winslow. There are some fights even he can't break up. I guess the Frankensteiners and HR will have to settle their differences another day. Enjoyable match and post-match brawl. Lets just hope that Frankie gets a flea dip soon. I'll just scroll past the next segment. Looks like there's alot of screaming though SINCE EVERYTHING IS CAPS LOCKED AND SOMEBODY CAN'T FIGURE OUT ANOTHER WAY TO CONVEY TALKING IN A LOUD VOICE I really enjoyed the segment between Axel and Brannigan. Somebody set it before but I'll say it again, Brannigan's Law = money. Again though, Axel really isn't Dark and I think keeping with that theme hurts him a tad. He has become more UnderBiker or Nash during his first face run as Diesel in terms of attitude. Just something to think about. That is the laziest T-Shirt ever and at the same time Hoff will make a fortune. Bastard. Simple yet effective promo leading into the match with Gunner. he be clubberin', Tony Hoff be clubberin'!!!! Dey's a woman in da men's room. Gettin him wit da PLUNDER! Ok, excuse me but I got excited there for a moment. Hoff adding the Anklelock is obviously a tribute to Kurt Angle. I like it as it adds another dimension to his character. Short match that did its job in the Hoff/Crystal feud. ok, Red Sox pregame show is starting and then the game starts so I'm off like Patty's dress on prom night. More feedback later! Adam 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 *cries* I can never get Axel exactly how I want him to be. I think he'll pretty much always be a mixed character, because it seems that the more I try to refine him, the more mixed he becomes. I dunno. Anyway, I'll start off the way I usually start off by saying it was a great show. I remember a stretch of HeldDowns that were very promo heavy (for good reason though), so it was nice to see so many matches on the card. Scott Hall was random. Chris Stevens was even more random, considering I didn't think he'd be back so soon. I thought Scott Hall could say more than 'Hey Yo', but it was nice to think that he was so drunk his vocabulary had been reduced to two words. Nice segment. I wasn't around for the heyday of Some Guy, so Im glad there was a promo here so I could get to know the character a bit more. The wacky tag team~!~!~! I was looking forward to this. The Birmingham Bad Boys. Holy Mother Country Batman! Ali G should be their manager. Innit. I liked that Jasmine was the one in the office with them, being an Irish girl and all. *scrolls past next segment* I REALLY want a promo war between the Heavenly Rockers and GPX. Nice scathing Alf promo. I wasn't entirely sure if he was a face or a heel. Now Im sure he's a tweener. Chaotic tag match. Hopefully this will lead to a No-DQ match at LA. More to come. Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Hoff adding the Anklelock is obviously a tribute to Kurt Angle. Nail, head. I like it as it adds another dimension to his character. Yay! That was the intended effect. Anyway I have to do laundry tonight, so I'm sitting around, and hopefully this will lead to feedback...stay tuned.
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Feedback, out of order of course! I'm off like Patty's dress on prom night. I’m no whore! PRL if you want to convey someone shouting without giving your caps lock a workout, just do this: PRL (shouting angrily) blah blah blah blah! Blah blah blah blah! without the bold of course. You don’t even have to put the “angrily” part in. The Birmingham Bad Boyz are actually the third tag team KC’s created. We’ve had lots of teams fall by the wayside now that I think about it: Crunk Machine, South Central Militia, The In Crowd Remix, The Tether brothers, Glory by Anarchy, etc. Anyway, these new guys seem like they would be a good feud for GPX. If GPX was actually still around. Eski and Zack did such a good job co-writing the six man match, that their singles match could possibly be the LA match of the night. Sticking with Eski, The HH/Docs thing was cute. Disturbingly cute. Like a serial killer dressed as a Carebear. The comedy potential in a Dude/Rodez feud makes me moist. I actually meant to say that last week. More later. Maybe.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Patty, Glory By Anarchy are in HI-YAH until I can be bothered to use them. I wouldn't be surprised if these ones joined them too.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Patty, Glory By Anarchy are in HI-YAH until I can be bothered to use them. Same goes for the S.C.M. That's why HI-YAH was originally created, as a way for guys to take a leave with a decent excuse as to their whereabouts. If it weren't for Hell's Hitmen, the S.C.M. would of been back by now. There was a story in place for their return, but Eski most likely forgot about it. It's probably a good thing too, because the Hitmen deserved to be on AM somehow. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the S.C.M. storyline is still used at some point. There's a good chance all the major tag teams will have a feud going on by summertime. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Uh-oh...looks like Ned out-smarted Alix. If this isn't a lesson on why you don't sniff glue then I don't know what is. Also, Maya stealing Jingus' mask was sweet. I already told Supes of what I thought on his segment via AIM. Still, he should leave some feedback. Don't be a Damaramu Here's my segment. I'm such a silly bastard. The contract signing was ridiculous. In a funny way though. Where we see comedy though the WWE would have ran this same angle and portrayed it as real life drama. short and sweet continuation of the Crystal/Hoff happenings nice to see Jumbo get his own music. Poor Jumbo didn't get much offense in at all. Oh well, he's nobody major anyways and I guess he's our JTTS. Another short segment that does its job appropriately. more feedback to come
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 HEY GUYS WHAT'D YOU THINK OF MY SEGMENT PLZ FEEDBACK ME PLZ I NEED FEEDBACK. Even with feedback, Damaramu managed to quickly blow his load. KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 I hope I got across what I wanted to with the change in PK's style; I never realize how short some of my matches are until I see them in the shows. Speaking of matches, a lot of em' this week. A bit of an odd start with Chris Stephens beating up Scott Hall, but it shows that Chris isn't staying away much longer. Good SG promo with the whole "I'm stronger than you think I am" angle. Interesting debut of the Birmingham Bad Boyz. That must be kind of tough to write the accents out like that, but it's good stuff. Great full-of-themselves promo from the Rockers. The fans' randomly screaming things at them was great. HOLLY, I WANT TO BE THE FATHER OF YOUR ABORTION! Their match was a nice wild affair with a good brawl at the end. Bah, I suck at feedback. I'll just sum up in saying that LA has been built up very nicely in the short time everyone has had. Should be a pretty good follow-up to AM.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Cole My god! He's just suplexed Some Guy right into the Steel Steps! I haven't seen that since Mankind Vs Shawn Micheals at IYH: Mindgames 96! I actually thought of using that move in the Texas Death Match. There was going to be a whole thing with the steel steps afterwards but it just never really fit into the match so I never used it. I always loved when Foley would give up his body for that bump. Its one of the very few times the steps actually look like they hurt when involved. SG gets to one kneww Only CWM could give us that...the action was good but I'll be honest with you here my friend, the commentary was kind of corny at times. It shows me why ya don't like doing it since you seem a little lost. I'll just tell ya my method (if my commentary is no good as well then by no means use my method lol); try to hear in your head what they would say...actually hear their voices and everything. Its weird to describe but I tune everything out and knowing how they are in real life I try to hear in my head how they would react. Now with Caboose this was a little more difficult until I just decided to have him treat the faces as he treats me everytime we talk. Use the Commentary Force. Peter and Brock have a nice little encounter. Brock comes off as real angry when he doesn't allow Rick to do the speaking for him. Malibu and Black confrontation was INTENSE~. Intense Zone reminds me of Dids always talking in the threads but never sending anything in for the three weeks I was there. That and Popick once telling me that Malibu had me put on Intense Zone cause he didn't like me First time I got to read KC's follow up to the Funeral Service thing I wrote. It made me tingle a tad. It truly was awesome and I seriously could have never wrote something better to achieve its purpose. more feedback coming.
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I hate doing the commentary, especially if you are feeling the match and typing away. Stopping to add commentary sometime kills my momentum. If I wait until the match is done then I can't figure out where to place it, so it's kind of a crap shoot. I wasn't around for the heyday of Some Guy, so Im glad there was a promo here so I could get to know the character a bit more. If you want more, and reall, who could blame you check out School's Out 2003, my 2/3 falls match with AS is pretty much the only good match I ever wrote. I hated the HiaC, which I also wrote. Shit, now that I think of it, I think I've only written like 4 matches. Some legend I am.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Some legend I am. was that suppose to be a pun?
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 No, I was mocking myself. Maybe I'll turn heel and call myself "Some Legendary Guy and my gimmick would be that I quit without notice and don't so a whole lot when I'm here. Actually this time around I'm doing as much if not more than I did the last time. So, maybe I'm being a little hard on myself, but probably not.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Better finish up my feedbacking since the show will be up in 3hrs or so. Stevens with the mysterious videotape! Could it be the same one with that music video showing how Piper always wanted a real shot against Hogan?! Probably not. More Ventura commentary. I really think he should be a main stay if Caboose becomes active again. Then just ditch Coach...make him do road reports like Lee Marshall use to. Let me state now how I hate the cutting off of somethings and then a "NO!" being placed there to signify a reversal. I just don't like it...doesn't read well. I've also never heard the term "standing body scissors". I'm guessing this means a waistlock? A regular body scissors is when the person wraps their legs around the waist of somebody while both people are on the mat together. It looks like the legs are tightening down like a pair of scissors. I just don't get the standing thing. Could just be me though. THE RUNNING ENZIGURI! He hasn’t got a name for that yet, but I’m sure he’ll think of one eventually! Contrary to what another writer who shall remain nameless would have you think, every move doesn't need its own specific name. The match was ok. I liked last week's better. Easy booking style to set up a tag match for the show before the PPV.
